Just wondering if anyone's heard of Lybrel and what do you
think. It's new, so I don't know if anyone would have been
able to use it yet. Any info welcome!

I've just been prescribed Clairrette, which I think is the new name for Dianette (co-cyprindiol).
I was on Marvelon for the previous 4 months, but I kept breaking out and now my doctor prescribed this. I'm sure it will be more effective, but I was wondering about how permanent the effects will be. My doctor said there's a possibility that it will not come back. If it comes back I can either repeat the treatment or get another pill. Now I'm tempted. Should I start taking it or keep taking Marvelon for another couple of months and see? If Dianette doesn't work I will have to come back to it -or another pill- anyway and have to start all over again. I was hoping for a more long-term solution than temporary acne clearance (I can't take Dianette forever unfortunately...)
Any advice please??
By the way, I asked him for Yasmin and he laughed. He wondered why this "crazy pill" as he called it is so popular. He said it is not recommended anymore by the health organisation (he actually showed me the website) and said it's probably due to good marketing that started in France or something... So... no Yasmin for me! LOL

I am on tri-sprintec which i beleive is the generic version of ortho tri-cyclin lo...
But when about to start my period I break out more heavily...and isn't BCP supposed to stop that? I also have extreme cramping and stuff...I'm starting to think the pills have no effect on me lol

I was watching a programme on TV the other day about people who wanted to have a sex-change and how the treatment (in men at least) involved a year of eostrogen supplementation. If the dose was high enough they would even grow boobs! lol Other desirable effects included loss of excess body hair and much smoother skin. I was wondering why this treatment is only given to transexual men. It obviously has an overwhelming effect on androgens somehow resulting in a very clear skin. Is it so difficult and expensive to get a prescription for eostrogen from an endocrinologist? I'm actually thinking of getting supplements myself maybe in the form of a cream. There are numerous creams sold online for breast enlargement for example when you apply the cream topically. Of course this doesn't mean't you'll get a big difference on the size of your breasts (something you possibly wouldn't want if you were a man!) but maybe you could get an improvement in the state of your acne?
Any thoughts on this?

Hi all,
I am just curious about something. If your hormones are unbalanced and you start taking BC. Do you think that the BC will balance out your hormones and then you can quit taking the BC at some point without worrying that your hormones will go out of whack? I just don't want to take BC forever. Why the hell do hormones become unbalanced in the first place?
See for me, I rapidly lost a lot of weight... about 10kg in one month. (I am 180cm and dropped from 69kg to 59kg). After this rapid weight loss, my skin went to hell. I became oily had severe acne and so on. I have heard that estrogen is linked to fat and therefore perhaps my hormones became unbalanced due to the weight loss. However, I have increased my weight, yet my hormones are still unbalanced. Will my hormones be unbalanced forever? Has anyone ever successfully re-balanced their hormones and gotten off of all the medications?
Thanks for answering my questions?

This is probably a VERY stupid question and i'm sorry if i'm wasting your time asking

but... okay, i'll be all out of my samples for birth control pretty soon and i'm going to pick up my perscription one of these days.... but do they have a sort of "time limit" until when you can pick up your next perscription? What I mean is, do you have to wait a certain amount of days before you pick up the next one or can you pick it up anytime you want? I'm just asking because I know i'll be visiting my mom over the months.. and I may need to pick up my perscription earlier than usual..

Sorry if this didn't make sense

Since i'm on the pill, does that mean i'll have to get a pap smear done? I hear that a lot of the time, doctors make you get one done no matter what within at least 6 months of starting the pill (though the nurse practioner who perscribed me the pill I'm on now didn't mention it at all). I know last year, I was on the pill for a month (for acne reasons) and though I told the doctor I was a virgin.. he was still going to make me get a pap test done....
I have a huge fear of getting a pap test done for some reason.... I just don't like the idea of a strange instrument in my hoo-ha

Plus.. I hear it hurts when a virgin.

does anyone know if not takin it at the same time everyday matters for flare ups? by not taking it at the same time, i'm talking about taking it at 9am one day, 6pm the next. also, if taking it a day earlier so your period finishes earlier would mess with hormones?

My grandma went to pick up my Yaz prescription today... in which I gave her 50 bucks, because a few weeks ago, I was told that was the price.
Well today, the price ended up being 60 dollars!!

I was pissed because I thought they messed up the price or something and ripped me off... but then I went on the walgreens site, and they up'd both Yaz and Yasmin from 50 bucks to $56.99!

I don't know how i'm going to afford this shit.. but Yaz has been a miracle for my moods so far... so it's very important that I stay on it.
Does anyone know if birth control costs different at other pharmacies? I wonder if the Walmart pharmacy sells Yaz/Yasmin for cheaper??

i have been taking yasmin since march and it has done wonders for my skin. i took the placebos the first 2 months and my period started on wedsenday both times. i skipped the placebos the last two times because i had swimming activities planned (and it's lovely not to have a period btw lol)..but my mom doesnt think i should skip anymore unless i aboslutely have to. i agree..cause who knows what it will do in the long run. well my placebos start today..and i am going to an amusement park tomorrow and i dont want my period. my question is..do you think it will continue to just come on the wedsenday after my placebos start?

This is probably a ridiculous question but... what are placebo pills in birth control packets made of?

Is it just sugar or something?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had anything good to say about microgynon 30???!! I have been taking dianette for about the last 5 years but last time i went to the doctors he said it was probably a good idea to stop it now because of the risks which is fine by me, i just need to find something that is as good! i had a break after stopping dianette to see if i had grown out of it!! as if!! so now i'm taking microgynon 30 recomended by the dr. it doesn't seem as though many people have had success with this one though, what do you think? I've only been taking it for a week so i know i have to wait for results. any views would be appreciated thanks!

I just dont think accutane is what i need but when i brought it up with my dermatologist she completely dismissed me. She did bloods FBC, liver, cholesterol etc but no hormone levels - although i asked it wasn't written on there (it should say FSH, LH yes?)
I am due back to her next week and I really want her to take me seriously. My GP referred me to the dermatologist simply because no antib's were working, and i cannot take the BC pill of any type (migraine)
My periods are regular but heavy, i am very hairy (all over), find it hard to lose weight although i did last year lost over 2stones i am still overweight and largely my cystic acne (and other types) is around not just period, but ovulation
I just wondered if anyone had any advice that i can take to her

hi just wondering if anyone has any experiences of changing from dianette to yasmin? i've been on dianette for around 2 years and it has cleared my acne up but i need to change because dianette can be unsafe for long term use. has changing from dianette to yasmin made anyones acne become worse? i also had other side effects with diannete, my breasts grew by a couple of cup sizes and im hoping they wont grow again on yasmin, anyone any experiences of this? would be grateful for anyones feedback, worried that i could end up worse off than before thanks

Hello all! I have been on spiro for about one week, and am also on my second month or Ortho-tri-cyclin. Since starting the spiro I am soooo BLOATED. I've read on here that spiro is a diuretic, so I am completely confused. My stomach is really puffy and bloated right up to my rib cage....I can barely fit in any of my jeans.
However, I also started a new pack of BCP the same week I started the spiro. I didn;t have this much bloating my first month on BCP...so is it the spiro or not??
Any help, suggestions, and/or experience with thsi problem would be greatly appreciated

Also, i know it is noty a dietary issue, since my diet has not changed and there has been no great weight increase.
Help!!

Would you please help me with three questions?
1. How much spiro are you on?
2. Which bc pill do you take (if any).
3. What is your weight and age?
4. Were you able to stop taking antibiotics once the spiro kicked in?
Thank you!

I'm hoping that someone will tell me WHAT is going on!
I'm a 17 year old female and have had moderate acne for the past 8 or so years, and I get it on my face, chest, back, neck, and shoulders. I've tried a lot of medication to help, and most have done nothing. In the beginning of June, I got on a topical medicine called Clindamycin, and it was like an answer to my prayers! Although it really only helped my face acne, my skin was at least 95% better and I loved it! At the same derm. appointment that I got the Clindamycin, I decided to go on birth control to help regulate my hormones and thus hopefully help my skin. I started the birth control, called Trinessa, a form of Ortho Tri-Cyclin, this past Sunday, so I've been taking the pill for the past six days. But the third day into it, (actually, the fourth of July,) my face started breaking out. Bad. And it hasn't stopped. I've got at least five painful pressure zits on my chin and I'm breaking out everywhere on my face! It's terrible to have to worry about people seeing me again!
Have any of you experienced an increase in acne from taking any form of ortho tricyclin, espically Trinessa?
Is there a better birth control I can try taking that has worked well?
Any responses would be VERY apprechiated. Thank you!

Hi all
I was prescribed the contraceptive pill (one similar to Diane-35) for my acne. Anyway, i've taken the pill for almost a month and i've seen no improvement. My acne has actually worsened (I used to only get acne around my mouth and on my chin, but over the past couple of weeks i've had breakouts on my forehead and my cheeks! - I never used to get acne on my cheeks!)
I'm feeling very disenchanted. How long does the contraceptive pill take to clear up acne? Or doesn't it work for some people?
Thanks

Okay, so guess ,what I cleared my acne, and for good!!..how...? well if you have read my post about me thinking mine was harmonal...I was RIGHT!! and so me being the go getter that I am, and not wanting to wait on SPIRO from my doc, or take any bcp's I decided to talk with an holistic doctor, and she told me about PERUVIAN maca root, a herb that stabalizes harmones(for people with the irregulars, like me, ) so I am happy, and been on it for 2 weeks, also, I aked her about a natural androgen reducing herb/tea, and she told me about SPEARMINT tea, two cups a day, and it also controls mild hitarism in women..i.e, my acne, hair on my lip. has all subsided..not totally clear, however, I have only 1 tiny bump left on my chin, and some shallow scrring...I am very happy!!
I also might add, I cut out all dairy, wheat beef, fats, every/any thing that is horrible for skin,I eat only vegies and some fruits , drink plenty water , cut sweets and chocolates, and also I take ,all vitamins, b-complex,vitamin c. and e, fish oil and I did a cleanse (whole body), and now I am going to start drinking FLAYVAY, it is suppose to help rid the shallow acne scarring I have!!
SO, it is clear that once you find the underlining cause to your acne, you address that, and then you might have to change your diets, and also add vitamins...and then see clearer skin...I am proof...
good luck guys!!

I'd never heard of it until my doctor prescribed it and I actually couldn't find much information about it online. Has anyone broken out much while on it? I'm okay right now, although I did notice a pimple on my upper lip (which might just be a product of sweating in this awful heat). Its a pill made with a combination of DESOGESTREL/ETHINYL ESTRADIOL if anyone knows of some horrid thing associated with them. ;] Thanks.
(I usually only get pimples around my period, which is why I started it, but is also why I'm worried at the two blemishes I have currently).

I don't know where else to post this, but I'm a spiro and Yasmin user.... I stopped using Spiro for a while and I broke out, and went into a panic and started using topical cortizone cream... well the injections for me good, so I thought what the hell.... I'd used it all over my chin for a few weeks, four times a day, of course it did no good.... so I just stopped using it. Apparently, Ive now learnt you have to slowly ease of it... because if you don't you break out into an inflammation where ever you previously use it.... so now I have a massive inflammation all over my chin.... I'm such a freaking idiot.... I MUST NOT SELF PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS....let this be a cautionary tale to those that use medications like me!!! I look like a mess, far worse then acne....

Im such a freaking loony
