I've been taking Vitex for almost 2 weeks and I know at least 1 person has said they were cured from it. Has anybody else had any experiences with it? I've heard it can take 3-6 months to see clearing but I'm willing to stick it out!

I spent alot of today reading info on acne, I had a bit of a rest this evening and began to remember a time when I felt great, was looking great and my acne had cleared, I thought it was because I was antibiotics at the time (which I am now and they not yet helped). I then also remembered it was when I was trying to get pregnant and was not on any contraseptive. ( I have been on the same one for 13 years on and off) I was on Depo provera when I got acne the first time then stopped when tried to get pregnant again and my acne cleared, which I thought was due to the anit biotic I was on. But Iam on the sameone now and have been for 5 months and still no clearing to my skin, I feel it is actually worse. Anyway I decided to look up links for depo to see if it caused acne, I am so angry now. It not only caused acne but everything else that is wrong with me and I thought i was going mad. It causes depression, anxiety, severe headaches and more. If anyone has had this injection and think it may be linked then speak to your doctor. I had no acne as I was growing up then bang as an adult I have it severe. I will be at my doc again in the morning.

Okay so I am gonna ask a doc for Spiro to treat mysterious excess body hair growth. What I would also like it to fix is the clogged pores I have on my body. Mainly chest. I know it's sposed to help acne BUT I don't really have my facial acne in the common hormonal areas so that gets me thinking if it will help.
Ladies who have taken Spiro - did it help your body acne?

Hi all,
I am wondering if all of you could answer a few of questions
1) What kind of birth control do you use?
2) Have you noticed a decrease in oil production while using it?
3) If you noticed a decrease in oil production, when did you first notice it? After 3 months of using BC? After 5?
4) Are you using any other medication to decrease oil production? For example saw palmetto, or spiro.
Now I am curious if BC can reduce oil on its own or if I need to add something like saw palmetto. Thanks everyone for answering.

So I have been trying to figure out a reason for my acne, oil and cysts for awhile now. I have recently discovered the connection between cholesterol and hormonal imbalances. Cholesterol makes estrogen and progesterone. If we don't get enough cholesterol in our diet, our bodies take cholesterol from our endocrine system to use for brain function and repair.
Anyway, this website has very interesting and useful information
http://www.womentowomen.com/menopause/estr...etabolicpathwayIn all of my recent blood tests, my total cholesterol was very low despite me eating lots of fat. The doctor didn't think it was anything to worry about and he brushed it off. I on the other hand believe I have a malabsorption issue with fat.
So to make a long story short, I believe my low cholesterol is causing a hormonal imbalance in my body, which in turn is causing my acne, oily skin etc. I don't think I have enough progesterones being produced because I don't have enough cholesterol to produce the hormones.
How many of you have had a cholesterol test done? How many of you have low cholesterol?

I just finished my third month of yasmin and within the past month and a half I have been feeling really depressed with some anxiety. It is really starting to worry me if it could be the pill or if it has just somehow developed on its own. Has this happened to anyone? I'm thinking about switching to Yaz and seeing if that will help.

I got my hormones checked out and apparently I'm normal. No imbalances or anything.
My question is - would spiro help me stop breaking out even if I measure normal? Does it help with oil production in all cases? Gah.

My doctor has just given this one for me. I was on Dianette for 3 months and It worked very well to my acne on the second month but It's too bad that I can not get Dianette in US. so I have to switch and I hope TRI-Levlen might help for acne?
Share experience if you can!

I've just been prescribed Clairrette, which I think is the new name for Dianette (co-cyprindiol).
I was on Marvelon for the previous 4 months, but I kept breaking out and now my doctor prescribed this. I'm sure it will be more effective, but I was wondering about how permanent the effects will be. My doctor said there's a possibility that it will not come back. If it comes back I can either repeat the treatment or get another pill. Now I'm tempted. Should I start taking it or keep taking Marvelon for another couple of months and see? If Dianette doesn't work I will have to come back to it -or another pill- anyway and have to start all over again. I was hoping for a more long-term solution than temporary acne clearance (I can't take Dianette forever unfortunately...)
Any advice please??
By the way, I asked him for Yasmin and he laughed. He wondered why this "crazy pill" as he called it is so popular. He said it is not recommended anymore by the health organisation (he actually showed me the website) and said it's probably due to good marketing that started in France or something... So... no Yasmin for me! LOL

I am on tri-sprintec which i beleive is the generic version of ortho tri-cyclin lo...
But when about to start my period I break out more heavily...and isn't BCP supposed to stop that? I also have extreme cramping and stuff...I'm starting to think the pills have no effect on me lol

I was watching a programme on TV the other day about people who wanted to have a sex-change and how the treatment (in men at least) involved a year of eostrogen supplementation. If the dose was high enough they would even grow boobs! lol Other desirable effects included loss of excess body hair and much smoother skin. I was wondering why this treatment is only given to transexual men. It obviously has an overwhelming effect on androgens somehow resulting in a very clear skin. Is it so difficult and expensive to get a prescription for eostrogen from an endocrinologist? I'm actually thinking of getting supplements myself maybe in the form of a cream. There are numerous creams sold online for breast enlargement for example when you apply the cream topically. Of course this doesn't mean't you'll get a big difference on the size of your breasts (something you possibly wouldn't want if you were a man!) but maybe you could get an improvement in the state of your acne?
Any thoughts on this?

Hi all,
I am just curious about something. If your hormones are unbalanced and you start taking BC. Do you think that the BC will balance out your hormones and then you can quit taking the BC at some point without worrying that your hormones will go out of whack? I just don't want to take BC forever. Why the hell do hormones become unbalanced in the first place?
See for me, I rapidly lost a lot of weight... about 10kg in one month. (I am 180cm and dropped from 69kg to 59kg). After this rapid weight loss, my skin went to hell. I became oily had severe acne and so on. I have heard that estrogen is linked to fat and therefore perhaps my hormones became unbalanced due to the weight loss. However, I have increased my weight, yet my hormones are still unbalanced. Will my hormones be unbalanced forever? Has anyone ever successfully re-balanced their hormones and gotten off of all the medications?
Thanks for answering my questions?

This is probably a VERY stupid question and i'm sorry if i'm wasting your time asking

but... okay, i'll be all out of my samples for birth control pretty soon and i'm going to pick up my perscription one of these days.... but do they have a sort of "time limit" until when you can pick up your next perscription? What I mean is, do you have to wait a certain amount of days before you pick up the next one or can you pick it up anytime you want? I'm just asking because I know i'll be visiting my mom over the months.. and I may need to pick up my perscription earlier than usual..

Sorry if this didn't make sense

Since i'm on the pill, does that mean i'll have to get a pap smear done? I hear that a lot of the time, doctors make you get one done no matter what within at least 6 months of starting the pill (though the nurse practioner who perscribed me the pill I'm on now didn't mention it at all). I know last year, I was on the pill for a month (for acne reasons) and though I told the doctor I was a virgin.. he was still going to make me get a pap test done....
I have a huge fear of getting a pap test done for some reason.... I just don't like the idea of a strange instrument in my hoo-ha

Plus.. I hear it hurts when a virgin.

does anyone know if not takin it at the same time everyday matters for flare ups? by not taking it at the same time, i'm talking about taking it at 9am one day, 6pm the next. also, if taking it a day earlier so your period finishes earlier would mess with hormones?

My grandma went to pick up my Yaz prescription today... in which I gave her 50 bucks, because a few weeks ago, I was told that was the price.
Well today, the price ended up being 60 dollars!!

I was pissed because I thought they messed up the price or something and ripped me off... but then I went on the walgreens site, and they up'd both Yaz and Yasmin from 50 bucks to $56.99!

I don't know how i'm going to afford this shit.. but Yaz has been a miracle for my moods so far... so it's very important that I stay on it.
Does anyone know if birth control costs different at other pharmacies? I wonder if the Walmart pharmacy sells Yaz/Yasmin for cheaper??

i have been taking yasmin since march and it has done wonders for my skin. i took the placebos the first 2 months and my period started on wedsenday both times. i skipped the placebos the last two times because i had swimming activities planned (and it's lovely not to have a period btw lol)..but my mom doesnt think i should skip anymore unless i aboslutely have to. i agree..cause who knows what it will do in the long run. well my placebos start today..and i am going to an amusement park tomorrow and i dont want my period. my question is..do you think it will continue to just come on the wedsenday after my placebos start?

Is it just sugar or something?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had anything good to say about microgynon 30???!! I have been taking dianette for about the last 5 years but last time i went to the doctors he said it was probably a good idea to stop it now because of the risks which is fine by me, i just need to find something that is as good! i had a break after stopping dianette to see if i had grown out of it!! as if!! so now i'm taking microgynon 30 recomended by the dr. it doesn't seem as though many people have had success with this one though, what do you think? I've only been taking it for a week so i know i have to wait for results. any views would be appreciated thanks!

I just dont think accutane is what i need but when i brought it up with my dermatologist she completely dismissed me. She did bloods FBC, liver, cholesterol etc but no hormone levels - although i asked it wasn't written on there (it should say FSH, LH yes?)
I am due back to her next week and I really want her to take me seriously. My GP referred me to the dermatologist simply because no antib's were working, and i cannot take the BC pill of any type (migraine)
My periods are regular but heavy, i am very hairy (all over), find it hard to lose weight although i did last year lost over 2stones i am still overweight and largely my cystic acne (and other types) is around not just period, but ovulation
I just wondered if anyone had any advice that i can take to her

hi just wondering if anyone has any experiences of changing from dianette to yasmin? i've been on dianette for around 2 years and it has cleared my acne up but i need to change because dianette can be unsafe for long term use. has changing from dianette to yasmin made anyones acne become worse? i also had other side effects with diannete, my breasts grew by a couple of cup sizes and im hoping they wont grow again on yasmin, anyone any experiences of this? would be grateful for anyones feedback, worried that i could end up worse off than before thanks
