How long should one wait to take lymecycline again after completing a course of roaccutane? Thanks
27 May 2009
Hi everyone, I am 22 years old and I’ve had acne the last 7 years, on my face and abit on my back. I am from the UK.

In 2002 I was put on gels such as differin and duac gel for several months, then in 2003 I was referred to a dermatologist who put me on Lymecycline along with these gels.

Then my acne was not too bad for a about but then in 2004 it got worse again and the dermatologist put me on Roaccutane for about 5 months, my acne then cleared up.

However I abit of acne in 2007 and my doctor gave me duac which cleared it up, then recently I started getting loads of outbreaks again and my doctor said he could either give me Lymecycline with duac gel and some Salicylic Acid or I could go back to the dermatologist and go on Roaccutane however the waiting list was quite long so I decided to go with the doctor.

I have just finished taking Lymecycline last month. I have not had a breakout since. I am still using duac gel and Salicylic Acid, however I recently started using them on every other day.

I just wanted your guys advice on what the best way is to cut down on these and eventually stop. I am scared that if I stop using these it will come back again, I am 22 years old now I don’t want to keep using these things forever.

My skin is also looking quite dull I have been using some moisturizers however which is the best one to use in this situation? Also is it true that duac gel and salcyic acid make to susceptible to sunburn, I never really thought about it until recently however I am quite fair skinned but I have never had sun burn or anything and I have used duac gel when I was in India few years ago in the summer and it was really sunny and hot.

Thanks for your help

It is okay to use duac daily gel over 60 days, it says that you should throw it away after 60 days but I haven’t even used half of it yet and it’s so expensive. Does it sill work after 60 days, anyone else used it?
