I'm sure this has been brought up before but I really think there should be a forum for skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, seborrhea and just general dry skin problems. There's one for oily skin but not dry skin, unless I'm missing something. There's also one for rosacea and I see a lot of dermatitis/eczema posts in the rosacea forums and although a few of the symptoms are the same, they are not the same thing. Maybe just make a general "Dermatitis" forum where all of these are included? They are all common skin problems, especially for people who have used tons of products and damaged their skin in which the ending result is usually some form of dermatitis. I think a lot of people here have experienced that and I think its own forum would help gather a lot of the knowledge and personal experiences people have had. I would certainly like to hear what worked/didn't work for people for these skin conditions but it's not as easy if the posts are spread throughout 5 different forums. I also think people would be more likely to post about their experiences if it has its own forum.. These skin conditions are some of the hardest ones to deal with, they deserve some more attention.

Wasn't sure where to post this but I feel like it'll get the most attention here.
I was just wondering what time of the year do people see their skin improve? I feel that mid-late Spring is the best for me where it's starting to get humid but not too humid. I usually clear up around this time and also for some reason my marks heal better and my skin tone looks better. Probably because my skin dries out and gets damaged in the winter so I consider Spring/Summer as "healing time".. Anyway, I am very happy that the warmer weather is finally coming. When it comes to skin, yay for Global Warming! (j/k)

Hey all.
I'm on a pretty casual water only regimen right now, doing well for the most part and I occasionally exfoliate and also moisturize with Jojoba oil(atleast til it gets warmer out) but I feel like it wouldn't hurt to add in a gentle cleanse every now and then. My skin is sensitive but I hear good things about goat's milk soap and wouldn't mind trying it. Any recommendations on a good brand of Goat's milk soap? Preferably very gentle with very few ingredients other than the goat's milk. Thanks.

Just wanted to share my recent success with Vitamin D. By no means do I consider this a complete cure for my breakouts but it has certainly helped. I'm taking 1,000 IU a day and occasionally get a few minutes of sun exposure a day walking to class, although it's been bad out lately. I also started to drink cow's milk again which is vitamin D fortified and organic. Generally I've never gotten bad reactions from cow's milk, in fact, I drank it a ton in high school(not to mention a crappy brand) and I had perfect skin back then. I think it's funny when people generalize milk as always being bad for the skin, it's highly nutritious and healthy in moderate amounts.
I wish I found this out earlier in the winter. I think I've always had some kind of lack of vitamin D for the past few years due to not going outside a ton and my diet not really including it. So far I've seen reduced dryness/flaking, a better overall complexion and marks are healing faster after a short period of time. Once spring/summer rolls around I'll probably stop taking it and just start going out every day but for now it's still freezing and nasty out so I'll continue taking it.

Just wanted to get some input from people who have tried honey masks for dry skin/acne.. Did it help you and if so how did you go about doing it exactly? I have really bad dry skin and uneven skin tone..My acne isn't my main problem, it's mild and not bad but those other things are a big problem. Can honey help any of these things?
Also, I have really good honey, Manuka honey.. Is this good for using topically though? If not I also have some plain organic honey that I could use but I've read good things about Manuka. Any help would be appreciated. |
