I'm right now in the middle this thread but have not found nothing about anybody passing blood test for insulin. Does it enough to figure out if I have insulin resistance (age: 24).

i just started taking taurine lets see what happens.
im interested as i read it helps the liver deal with endotoxicity, or breaking down any toxins from bacteria or otherwise, that are leaking into the bloodstream. Its has also been suggested that these toxins could be the cause of some inflammatory diseases.
------------
tried accutane- took two pills and hair started to fall out, had a severely painfully swollen lymph node and was convinced that it was not what my body wanted. And so the journey continues. Regimen The dipping method for cleansing(submerse face for 100 seconds in warm water) day and night. this is my absolute favorite increase bloodflow and nutrients to skin. Diacneal is a superior retinoid- ive experimented with them all!!!requires no prescription, get in on ebay!! ALoe vera lily of the desert brand, this actually helps. Diet: sugar 30 gms or less per day, low glycemic carbs. supplements-Get all required minerals and trace minerals and cure vitamin deficiencies fish oil , Antioxidants-CoQ10, L-carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Resveratrol, NAC(boosts glutathione levels) Dont shave with a blade. Anti stress meditations- learning to induce a complete sense of security/relaxation at will, yes it takes practice. Discover stressfull beliefs and question their validity, beliefs can affect your physiology and health, whther it is true or not, if you believe it you will react to it just the same so make sure your beliefs are justified. Also analyze the meaning of events and whther or not that event indicates what you think it indicates. Under the immense pressure of acne, I will shine like a diamond. Its never ok to let acne, or anyone, or circumstance affect how you feel about yourself, other wise you are a slave to your external conditions and can never rise up above them. |

If I can't find it, would substituting it with redbull be a good idea? |

I have found them in both Vitamin Shoppe and GNC stores. |

I'm taking 3 grams a day but that may be too much for long term, supposedly the body stores around 70 grams total, i feel it is unlikely anyone is completly depleted, yet i dont know how much the body can synthesize in a day nor requires in a day, to really know how much is too much and for how long. if it is made from other amino acids perhaps you could reason that you would not make anymore then the intake of the dependant amino acids are available for it to be made from. my guess is 1000 mg a day is probably fine or even going to be pissed out, 3 grams may be too much for long term use.

Thanks. Luckily I found a body builders site that sells 100% pure Taurine in power form. I will probably order it tomorrow. Perhaps I should seek for capsules? When I took B5 power it did absolutely nothing...

Taurine didn't do anything for me. I was taking 3000 mg a day. I don't know if it's the fact that I cut out all sugars (including natural) or that I'm taking taurine, but my skin definitely is less inflammatory. This post has been edited by strato: Sep 2 2009, 01:14 AM |

Time for an update - It's still working a treat for me. I did stop it for a while, to see if my problem had been cured, but the acne came back. I have a healthier lifestyle now, so i only need to take 1g of taurine a day (which is safer i guess) to maintain, and occasionally have to increase it if i eat lots of rubbish or had a late night drinking. Every now and again some rubbish is fine, but just not to excess.
All i'm doing is watching my diet, and fitness. So i exercise (currently lifting weights 3 times a week) and try to eat whole foods 90% of the time. Getting plenty of water, and sleep always help. I'm taking a few additional sups, cod liver oil, vitamin B tablet, calcium & zinc tablets and a spoon of flax seed oil. I'm eating plenty of chicken, eggs, cheese, beef, fish, all vegetables, spices, coconut oil, oils, oats and i'm limiting rice, potatoes, nuts/seeds, fruits (mostly just banana, and some berries max once a day), 85% cocoa chocolate, raw fruit & nut bars, while mostly avoiding sugar (which includes milk, bread, pop, alcohol, sweets, processed foods/ready made meals/takeaways). I drink mostly water, and have a couple of coffee's a day max, and usually 1 healthy tea. I do allow the occasional treat and can stick with this pretty well, i save the treats for when i go out. This works pretty well overall. I'm not cured, i doubt i ever will be - but i'm a million miles away from when i started, and this is still working, years later!!! Why they unsticked this i'll never know!

Status: Clear after 30 years. Over 3 years in March '09! Good Things for Acne Story: Severe Acne since I was 10. 10+ years of Dermatologists, Antibiotics, topicals and ACCUTANE did nothing. Discovered oranges triggered the worst of my cystic acne = about 70% improvement. B-complex with zinc and C, saw palmetto and aspirin mask = more improvement, a lot less oily. Diet changes = Clear. Regimen: Anti-inflammatory, nutrient dense, blood sugar stabilizing diet and supplements (for hormones, inflammation, aging, health). Mild cleanser. Occasional BHA usage. Jojoba or Moisturizer w/ niacinimide for hyperpigmentation. For more info see my personal Log/Notes Diet effects acne in so many ways: hormone balance, inflammation, Insulin levels, digestion, allergies and intolerances, liver function, adrenal function, SHBG levels, sebum quality, cell function and turnover, nutrient deficiencies, body fat, etc. All inter-related, some with a causal effect on the others Also affected by environment and lifestyle habits like stress management, sleep and exercise. Lots more info. List of clinical studies demonstrating diet and acne connection. List of members who've cleared their skin via diet and healthy lifestyle. Basic advice: Eat, sleep, supplement and exercise like you are a diabetic. And eat real food! When you eat stuff, Stuff Happens! |

Are you already in the success compilation thread started by ndRomeo? If not, please add a summary. There's a link in my signature. Yeah, i'm in there - but it was one of my earlier posts, before the acne struck back. I got to something like 80% clear, much improved and thought it was totally going to clear, but it never did. Turned out i, like most people tried various cures for things and improved a heck of a lot, but never got totally clear - and then realised that it wasn't leaky gut, candida, high gi, carbs, lack of omega 3, lacking vitamins, or any of the other theories on the forum, it simply turned out to be just a combination of poor health, bad food, bad habits & lifestyle and a build up of toxins/pollutants. Now, I could eat an almost zero sugar diet and be totally clear with no supplements, like the paleo's, but it's a fairly hard and expensive lifestyle for the majority of us to follow, and i'm not convinced it's safe long-term, the build up of dixons and pcb's is going to be pretty bad, grass fed organic or not, thanks to the polluted world we live in. So i just found a happy balance, i try to eat healthy in proportion without overeating (equal fat/carbs/protein where possible), but am not worried about the odd pizza or burger or pint of cider - as long as i keep doing what i'm doing 90% of the time all is good! I just drop in now and then to bring taurine back to the top of the forum and report it's still working and i haven't died or anything, as it seems to me a lot of people who find success never come back and tell the new members how they found a cure and show some support!
