Yo - yes, I did go to bed last night feeling as if I stunk of vinegar. I think it could still work well if applied and then rinse off after 30 minutes.
Great link Yo - thanks.

QUOTE will205, so over 8 years your acne scars improved/disappeared ?
QUOTE Will--how did you manage to get smooth indent free skin? Tell us how! I got a little carried away let me explain. I still had redness on my face when i was 19 and obviously this accentuated my shallow pits. Yes the redness went and i reckon my scars filled in to a degree over time. Not completely though. Since i was 17 i have been eating vegetables every night. I don't smoke and i don't drink alcohol much. I rarely eat junk food to. My only vices are the sun and i probably should put a moisturizer on but i never have. My mum looks 5-10 years younger than she does so genes play a part to. Yes i still have a scar on my left cheek but soon i will begin my quest to try and get rid of it.

oursfan, you are really a nice person, ive seen many posts by you and its really cool that you posted pictures of your improvement... i have seen them, you look better, but still i would like to know your opinion since you see yourself everyday and not through photos like we do, so my question is, what percentage of improvement do you saw after the subcision?
thanks by the way, im going to try that lemon and vinegar thing, i wonder if drinking orange juice would be the same or if drinking lemonade (with sugar)??? |

thanks That's nice of you to say. Thanks! I think I see about 30-40% improvement thus far.

I read many years ago that vinegar was good for many things. The book recommended rinsing your face and hair with cider vinegar. I think it keeps the skin at the correct ph level and after a while, the skin should normalise (rather than being excessively oily or dry). I guess it also has the exfoliating effect you guys discussed. I also read in a doctor's CO2 instruction sheet that patients should rinse with a weak vinegar/water solution. The book also recommended a spoon of cider vinegar after each meal. (I can't remember for what - this was around 30 years ago and I don't have the book anymore!) I'm sure it cannot harm, so give it a try - it's simple and cheap. The lemon juice in water should definitely help. Lemon juice is full of vit C which is essential for collagen production.

Freedom: The other treatments I've tried:
- CO2 laser: Helped a bit but not as much as subcision in my opinion. Looked really good at first but then a few years later the scars seem to have come back. - Exfol Serum/Copper Peptides: I've only done this in areas that are no longer prone to breaking out where I have small shallow icepicks (my forehead and chin). It seems to have helped some. I also used the dermaroller in these areas to help the peptides penetrate the skin better. - DermaSponge: I don't think this helped all that much because I had to scrub very hard which made the area really red (a bit of downtime). I don't think it was worth it. They do make a really nice moisturizer though! - N-Lite: Had this done two weeks and four weeks after the subcision. Have not seen any results from it yet. Per my Dr. it could take up to 90 days to see any results from it. I have heard mixed reviews on N-Lite for acne scarring.

oursfan,
thank you. Do you feel that the dermaroller can be used to treat scars-or just to help topicals penetrate more deeply? How long have you been using this and have you seen any results? |

Hi Freedom: You're welcome.
I think the dermaroller is just to help topicals penetrate more deeply. I have used it once a week for about two months and I have seen minor results. I think that I'd need to use it everyday for several months to see more improvement. It does irritate the skin to do it so that's why I only do it once a week. The "needles" are extremely small, but you can definitely feel them penetrating.

thanks again.
When you say that it irritates the skin do you mean that it hurts or do you mean that your skin is irritated (inflammed) for days after using it? |

Sure.
It hurts a little bit (not much). The skin becomes red, inflamed for a little while after but not days -- More like a few hours actually.

Can you use those little yellow bottles in the shape of lemons when adding it to water for a toxic? Can you use any vinegar?
Thanks |

Jamie - any vinegar is supposed to work. I have been using malt vinegar (the stuff you put on chips!) but I also bought some cider vinegar today and want to try that.
It's probably best to use fresh lemons, as the stuff you get in those little bottles have probably got additives in them.

I suggest you use the vinegar once and wait a couple of days, if you are OK with that, continue using it. I am using it neat (and my skin should be sensitive considering all the peels and other stuff I do) - but I suggest you dilute your vinegar - 3 part water to 1 part vinegar and just dab on to your skin. It actually makes skin feel very toned and soft immediately.
I know people who have been doing glycolic peels 6 months after accutane, so the vinegar should be fine.
