on accutane right now. I feel tempted to do this to reduce the light scarring on my cheek. also, on acutane, ppl have commented on my face being reddish/sunburnt. so should i use this method??? can it probably heal the redness? Ooh no stay away from this if you're on Accutane and until 6 months after you're done. Your skin is too fragile right now to do any scar treatments. |

QUOTE I had acne, cysts etc for 6-12 months i used nothing except minomycin and the sun to get rid of it. 7 months later after my breakout i thought my face was healed and i look at my face side on in a car window with the sun shining on my face. I mean i really looked 5 mins or so and i noticed pits and bumps and scarring. I was devastated. 8 years on and i look in the car window with the sun on my face and my face is completely smooth and indent free. Will--how did you manage to get smooth indent free skin? Tell us how! I have read your article about acne scar. that you mentioned using lemon and vinegar. Is it lemon or lime? lemon has yellow skin lime has green skin. Would you tell me it was lemon or lime? thank you very much Khiem Nguyen |

Would love to do this. Already tried the vinegar, I'll tell you how it works. My scars are not so deep, except maybe 2 pitmarks (but not all that deep, just moderately deep).

I disagree with this being being an exfoliation technique. You see why.
Well I'll tell you why. How the hell can a person exfoliate enough skin cells in 2 days to see such a dramatic improvement or be completely healed? They can't (well, I don't think so) I think what this does is swell up/sting/damage your skin for it to clear the red marks and produce collagen in the process. Just like the chemical peeling, where they use acids to damage the skin for new collagen to build. |

Just like the chemical peeling, where they use acids to damage the skin for new collagen to build. Exfoliate=peel off in thin fragments. Which is what ACV and chemical peels do. Both ACV and chemical peels such as glycolic acid are AHAs. I tried drinking lemon with water, it did nothing but mess up my teeth. ACV worked great for redmarks though but did little for scars. |

How long did you use it?
And you didn't even see a minor improvement in your scars?? Oh and did you try to take the cloth, put ACV on it and leave it there until the cloth became dry? |

I used it for about four months. I still use it occasionally. I actually used it last night and this morning. It works slightly better than Dan's AHA IMO. The most improvement I have seen is maybe about 5%-10%. But it works GREAT for redmarks. What I did was mix ACV in a water bottle with a 1:4 ratio. Mix it before use, then I used a q-tip and dabbed it on my scars. I only used it as spot treatment. |

I use full blast ACV. The point is to make it red and irritated (I think).
The thing that's weird is, on my shoulders (I had a few blackheads that I popped which lead to like a a few scars) the scar tissue becomes red. On my face, the color doesn't change. Also, someone said a 75% improvement happens when they pick (scrape) their scars. I picked one on my shoulder, it became very red and it seemed to be less then it was before (I did it yesterday). I then put some aloe vera after I did it. Do you know anyone else who tried picking or have you? Anyways, this is just what I think. Like some people think evolution has happened (I don't) and some people think that their religion is the answer (I don't). While I'm writing this message, I have like 5 different cotton cloths on me (2 on shoulders, 1 on arm, 2 on face). |

By the way, how do you define a shallow scar?
Is a shallow scar one that is only noticeable when you look just 1 or 2 feet away from the mirror and can see it? One more thing right, what about getting a knife and poking the scar tissue, then adding some aloe vera/lemon/acv. Collagen production would begin there, right? |

Hi, I've read some topics about these methods and even saw pictures of people whom it helped.
I was wondering if I can start drinking lemon water safely after being off Accutane for 4 months only? |

I'm currently reading/skimming through this whole thread. I'm on page 38 o.o
I have a question though, sorry if its been asked before, but is there a 100% acidity ACV? I just got my bottle of ACV in the mail and it says "full strength 5% acidity". I order this cuz it raw/organize w/ mother, I kinda assumed it would also be 100% if theres such a thing. Does 5% mean that it's already been distilled? or should I still do 1:3 when I use it? I'm planning on starting tonight... edit: well...i just got done reading this whole thing. Seems most the original people posted all the way up til like page 60ish, which is pretty much this whole post almost, then things just died down with new people posting everyone in a while =/ and towards the end, 2 people said the scar fix was temporary. What a let down... Still, if this works for red marks, thatd be great, and I just received my ACV.... This post has been edited by jepherz: Oct 19 2009, 11:54 PM |

Hmm I'm new to this website, but I've been looking for natural scar treatments online over the past 3 months, and this looks like it might work. I'm only 17, and my acne is starting to go away but ive noticed rolling scars on my right cheek, red marks on both cheeks, and some ice pick scars as well. Problem is, I'm too young to try laser surgery because I'm not through puberty yet and my acne is not fully under control. I might as well give it a shot though
Okay. I just tried applying the Apple Cider Vinegar to my face. I diluted it a little (maybe 3 parts ACV 1 part water) because my skin isn't very sensitive. Although it didn't sting that much, all of my scars became more obvious - Is this supposed to happen? This post has been edited by NINfreak: Oct 20 2009, 01:37 AM |

Okay after my first week of using ACV on my face, i am beginning to show positive results. After the first couple days, I broke out but it quickly cleared up and I haven't broken out since. The smell is terrible but it is worth it
