I keep chenille powder puff with a bit of my MMU in a vintage compact in my purse for touch ups. Just swirl it in some powder like you would to apply, and then put it away.

Ok...so Ive had a battle with wanting to love EM but it was just too drying and itchy and Im pretty sure it made me break out. I cant stand the dry version but was thinking of trying it with moisturizer or wet. Does it give better coverage that way?

QUOTE(Saphire82 @ Aug 17 2007, 10:43 AM) Ok...so Ive had a battle with wanting to love EM but it was just too drying and itchy and Im pretty sure it made me break out. I cant stand the dry version but was thinking of trying it with moisturizer or wet. Does it give better coverage that way? A moisturizer under it really is good for many. If it made you itch, though, you might not want to continue unless you choose a different formulation, not the intensive. Another idea that might help is a primer if you can find one you like. Mixing the MMU with a moisturizer is a lovely idea shared by many of the posters above, so that sounds like a great way to make a tinted moisturizer that provides some coverage. I don't see it as providing a lot of coverage, though. I did note that I itched when I used one particular one of the BM brushes I had. I don't use that brush anymore and don't itch when I use the other BM brushes I have, nor the one beauty supply store brush that I bought. PS: We won't storm or rant at you for not being a member of the EMC.

I just mix up (in a separate container) a bit of water and foundation until its a consistency I like and then apply it to an individual red mark as needed.

QUOTE(alternativista @ Aug 17 2007, 06:56 AM) I keep chenille powder puff with a bit of my MMU in a vintage compact in my purse for touch ups. Just swirl it in some powder like you would to apply, and then put it away. I am soooo dying for them to come out with a pressed powder compact....I emailed EM & they say they should have them sometime this winter. Until then I haven't figured out a neat & clean way to carry some MMU in my purse for late in the day touch ups....I don't want a purse full of loose powder... Oh, as far as the wet vs. dry application, I find I can get just as good of coverage applying it dry. If I apply a whole face wet, it does not help soak up my oily shine as well, which is one of the pluses of MMU for me. If I use too much moisturizer or don't let it mostly dry before applying then I have the same shine problem. So if you're super oily I recommend dry application and incorporating a flat top brush with your kabuki for extra & even coverage. 3 layers of intensive + concealer applied dry covers as well as a heavy liquid foundation for me, back when I had dark purple "red" marks & nasty pustules too. It still looks way more natural than if I was layering liquid foundation (which I had to do...I have always had to layer for my desired coverage). For anyone who itches, it may be brush; the first brush I used with MMU was cheap & itched like crazy. Once you find a good brush, keep it clean. If I get lazy & don't wash mine every week then it will itch. I will not pretend either, my $45 Lancome brush is much softer/smoother than my $10 kabuki, and it is much less likely to itch me. So sometime you get what you pay for. Now what I want to know about is using the flocked sponge....do you just apply it the way you would apply powder from a compact? What are the benefits of applying it this way?

I bought the chenille puff because that's what the built in applicator in Urban Decay, and I think Philosophy, looked like to me. And I could find one small enough for my vintage compact.

In my experience, the Bare Escentual brushes were very harsh and made my face itch...it was like putting on my makeup w/ sand paper I use Aubrey Nicole's large kabuki brush ($10) and I love it ...it's synthetic and it's the softest brush I've ever used...it also gives me great coverage. I've also heard rave reviews about their Premium line of brushes, so you can check those out as well at the Aubrey Nicole website. Some people really like EM brushes, so you can look into those as well...I use the EM concealer brush and I think it works really well. Oh ladies, I have another tip for ya'll: Blush a little too bright? Try mixing in some of your foundation into it, then apply it. It "dilutes" the color, so you get more of a soft, diffused color that's more wearable.

Woohoo! Wynne is a Mod!!
I used EM for 6 months and quit for the summer since I wanted a really simple routine. I just donated 12 inches of hair today and got an extra 4 inches off in layers so instead of spending my time before school on my hair it'll probably all go towards perfecting my EM and maybe learning eyeliner Oh, does anybody think using Bio-Oil would be a good primer/moisturizer for EM?

Hi,
I use "Soft" bronzer, multi-tasking concealer, the EM premium kabuki and the EM concealer brush. I also have the "Finishing Dust" finishing powder but I don't use it (I just don't feel the need for another layer on my skin-I'm not oily after accutane). I also don't see this type of fonishing powder on their website anymore... I usually use 2-3 layers because I like the flawless look, and it's super quick (I never really found it more time consuming that liquid foundation). I think I may go for "Fair" neutral for winter and use it either alone or mixed with fairly light because something a tad lighter then fairly light might actually hide my melasma a bit more and blend in with my neck color (I have about 45% melasma on my face so it's hard to match foundation to my real skin color...matching my melasma makes my whole face darker than my neck. But then again, it is darker than my neck...

Hi I'm completely clear! I've been using this regimen for 1 month and 17days Morning: Wash face usually with just cool water or Clinque foaming wash for Oily Wait about 15mins. Clindamycin on spots only Aloe Vera Gel on dry spots Nighty-Nite: Wash make-up off with Clinque Wash away gel Wash face again with Clinque Foaming Wash for Oily Skin Wait 30 mins. Apply Pea-sized amount of Retina- Micro .04%, I just got bumped up to .1% last week 1 pill of Septra 2x a day. And that's it, the doctor told me not to do anything else, I exfoliate gently once a week although I think i'm not suppose to with Clinque Exfoliating Wash My skin is so smooth and clear, I do still have acne marks and some bumps that aren't active there just there from past acne, but over time retin-a will help along with microdermabrasion. Thanks to this Dan for making this formum and everyone who helped me out and responded to me when I really felt like there was no end to my struggle with acne. Here's my log on progress: http://www.acne.org/messageboard/forums.html...blogid=190 |

1. Thanks for the congrats!
2. THANKS for the tips! I'm going to be reading this thread every single day. 3. Feel free to PM me with questions about nursing school or things that pertain to nursing if you're interested in a nursing career. OR you can even make a topic in the Lounge once you've Veteran Member status and that will work great as more than one nursing student to be can benefit. And we do have several RNs who are on staff AND who are members here. I just thought of another tip: mix blush into moisturizer and we have a cream blush! I can't do that as cream blushes do not look good on my scarred orangepeel texture face. 'tash, I'm so surprised you don't like Best Friends blush! Wow. It is my absolute favoritest blush ever. Are you very pale with pink undertones? I'm olivey with yellow undertones, not a teeny bit of pink to me. I am pale, though, but I tan easily and fast when I used to tan. Shoot, that reminded me I have to have a basal cell carcinoma removed the end of this month. *sighs* Let that be a lesson to you: do not tan! Do not go to tanning beds! If I end up with a hideous scar I am taking a picture of it and I am posting it as a warning to those of you who tan.

Hello, I wear fairly light neutral in intensive formula. I love the soft bronzer because it does not give an orange cast that a lot of bronzers have. The tinted silk dust also works well for me as a final step, I have slightly oily skin.
If you like to use vaseline on your lips try mixing some with your favorite blush in an empty sample jar. Microwave it for 30 seconds then tap the container on your counter until the vaseline settles nicely. When it cools it will harden slightly and makes a great lip gloss. |
