I've completed 5 months of accutane, the first month on 40mg and the rest on 80mg. My acne hasn't gotten any better and my hair has really started to thin. I've been trying to decide wether or not to stick the course out and finish the last month at an upped dose of 120mg or just call it quits and try to get my hair back to normal. It's a hard decision for me because there's the thought of just one more month and maybe my skin will clear up, but there's also the thought that with another month at an even higher dose i could be losing all my hair and still have terrible acne. If anyone has had this experience or can offer advice i would love it. thanks

What does your derm suggest? If it were me, I'd stick it out for one more month. If your hair is going to grow back after you stop taking it, it won't matter if you take it for one more month. But at least that way you will have given it 100% and won't have to wonder if you might have stopped too soon.

There's no postive gaurntee that your hair will grow back or go back to normal...Accutane can cause TE which can take up to 8months-18months to get back semi normal or Alopecia which is autoimmune hairloss....
120mgs is way too much, you don't need that much and if Accutane isn't working for you, which it didn't for me either, maybe you should find out what is causing you acne, food? hormonal? etc...... Besides if you read your Accutane info it continues too work up to 2 months after your course is over. |

Personally I would do the last month. My first course I lost a bunch of hair due to thinning. It took about a year but it all grew back and now my hair is longer and thicker than ever. I am about to take amnesteem again-this time I will take biotin supplements and use emu oil (and other natural oils) to curb hair loss.

From what I read, biotin doesnt help tane related hair loss.
And.. emu oil.. How do they get oil from.. emus.. ?? *puts on disgusted vegetarian face* rofl.. Musta took brains 2 come up with methods of oil extraction from emus. Hmmm.. Maybe they are like salmon and have really oily flesh? |
