Hello everyone, I've decided to make my own log, and therefore I'm copying all my updates from the caveman regimen thread.
May 24.
"I'm starting this as of today - will keep you posted. I'm 16, which means that if my acne is hormonal, this probably will not help. I've only had acne for about 7-8 months really and I must say that I feel bad for everyone who has suffered for years, I simply can't imagine the battle. My few pimples turned into bad acne steadily, but starting when I ruined my face with a wash serie which completely dried out my skin. A wash serie I kept using even though I got a rash on my neck and I could feel unbearable irritation when scrubbing my face. One thing has led to the other, and I now know that I've done so many very(!) bad things to my face, since learning so much on this site. Nobody in my family had acne, but ofcourse they've had the odd pimple. Therefore I'm really hoping this will put an end to my embarrasment. I've survived worse stuff than walking around with an oily face or a flaky face, so I don't think its going to be much of a problem. (Let's just say I don't pop my pimples and I've been on the DKR ~ very red, and heavy use of moisturizer+jojoba oil. Not to bring down the DKR though, it really is efficient.
Anyways, here I go."
May 29.
"Today is day 5 I believe, and it's been very up and down I think. Some of the things I've observed are:
- I have had no new zits in the places they'd normally be these last couple of days. (Chin and some of cheeks - basically around my mouth)
- My face looks freakin incredible in the morning and then less exciting as hours go by.
- I still have not experienced dead skin buildup (that I know of) nor flakes (except for eyebrows).
- Face feels less greasy every day I believe.
- I seem to get quite a lot of clogged stuff such as small pustules, whiteheads and small red bumps on my nose, cheeks and forehead. It sucks pretty bad, but I'm giving this a few months the least no matter what. Is this normal?
- The "rashes" are appearing, which was expected.
I think that's about it so far, I haven't told anyone that I'm doing this and I don't think I'm even going to tell my family. That is unless I see some good results ofcourse. But how does this sound to you wapak? I noticed in your gallery that you already had flakes by now, and I'm afraid it will take a little longer for me to heal.
Other than that - I love not having a regimen!
May 31.
"Yes baby! Finally some flakes.. Now I'm excited, yet can't wait for school .... This is day 7 for me I think, and I think that things are going to work out for me with this regimen.
I have a question though. I've read through many of the pages in the orgininal threads of this regimen and I've read several times that the dead skin was the worst part of this. But if this dead skin mask isnt flakes, and people say you can't really see it.. Whats so horrible about it then?"
June 1.
"Day 8.. Whiteheads in massive amounts.. Mostly where I never breakout, but theres a little bit everywhere. Alot of flaking on my eyebrows this morning, not really anywhere else. Kinda sad.. I'm not very happy about this, since pretty much anyone here having the flakes as their problem by now, but my acne has worsened. By whiteheads I mean tons of very small pustules. (Not much into what all the terms exactly means.) I have a suspision that's its from something I eat, but how could I know?"
June 6.
"Day 13 and still going strong. However it is soooo much up and down. One moment I'm very excited and happy about this regimen and the next I'm depressed about all these small pustules. I definitely see the dead skin around my nose now, and it SEEMS like all the small pustules on my cheeks are starting to dry out and move on to my chin. However I can't say anything for sure really. I'm a little flaky every morning but it's not that much really. Next friday which will be day 19 I am most likely going to rinse the face with water and gently remove the dead skin. Unless my face looks decent, but thats unlikely. The reason is that we're having this prom kind of party. We don't have proms in Denmark, but its like a party where the guys dress up in smokings ect., we eat, have a partner with pictures taken and so on. And I don't really feel like going with dead skin on my face. I know people have used washclothes, electric razors, towels and just their bare hands to remove the dead skin, but I have no idea what method I'll choose. I'd like to do it with just my hands, but isn't that difficult?"
June 14.
"I haven't updated in a while, but it was probably for the best. Today is day 21, and I believe I have quite a lot changes to mention. First off, I think around day 16 or so, I was playing floorball and I sweated ALOT, which resulted in the dead skin mask becoming very visible, so I ended up gently gliding a towel down my face to get most of it off. It worked but I'm not sure if it was a good thing to do. At day 19 I had to attend to this promtheme kind of party at my school, and I just kind of had to see if I could improve the condition of my face. So I rinsed my face in the shower, but when I came out, the deadskin was very mild in the places it had been visible day 16. Because of that, I was a little disapointed. However that was not the worst part of it, because after the shower my face looked like crap litteraly. All of my redmarks were very visible and my face was just incredibly red in general. I regretted having washed it, but decided to take a nap for a few hours and woke up with a much more decent looking face. So I went to the party and all, and I really enjoyed it. But dumb as I were, I joined this drinking game and ended up having beer all over my face. When I came home I would've normally washed the wax or whatever its called out of my hair and then washed my face, but I decided I wasn't going to do any of them. 2 days later I still havent washed, and I'm still waiting for any reaction. I honestly can't say if my face looks better or worse, so I'll wait with that. All I can say is that my face is quite oily today, which I think is a little weird. I plan to not wash my face for the next couple of weeks aswell. Longer if thats what it takes."

I have had acne since 11. I am 32. I run a business, am a mother and a wife and STILL feel stuck in the same old world of acne. I am SO sick of it. I try for months, sometimes years not to let it get me down but it always catches up to me. I have been convincing and hoping for over 15 years now that I would grow out of it. I am going to important work meetings and worried about which way I will sit because of whatever new bump is on my face. I won't go to a birthday party with my son tomorrow because I just can't take being out with all of our friends right now and meeting new people and what not. I don't usually avoid things because of my acne but I'm just really extra sick of it right now.
So, things I have tried... it's been so long i hardly remember all of them and am sure i am forgetting but I have tried:
-accutane, differen gel, benzomycin, birth control pills etc.. etc.. some worked, none worked well, all had other side effects that i eventually couldn't take.
-dan's regimen (BP did weird things overtime to my skin and left me with wrinkles which are now almost gone)
-glocilic cleanser followed by tea tree oil and witch hazel, aveno mosterizer. this was most recent, last 6 months...and coupled with my period and 2 12-hour flights with my toddler has left me looking horrible.
-so, so, so many more dead ends that i can't remember.. it has been over 20 years!
So, I am starting a new holistic regimen. Said I will give it a month but I am a little confused about a few things.
I got fish oil vitamins and vitamin e. I understand I should also buy vitamin c, a, zinc, and b complex. Can I get one vitamin for all of this or do i need to take ALL of these?
I already ate fairly healthy but plenty of dairy. I almost don't know how to eat without dairy products. Love them. BUT I'm trying to just gradually start cutting them out. I stopped my morning coffee that always has milk or cream and switched to green tea. I will try to cut down on yogurt, butter, and cheese. But I'm going to have to eat cheese once in a while as a treat. is that ok? I mean I looove cheese more than anything.
Is honey any better than sugar? Or just as bad?
This is what i'm going to try:
Morning
Wash with water only
apply bare minnerals skin-rever upper
bare minerals make-up, very light
night
wash with cytaphil (original formula) (NEED BETTER SUGGESTION_something EXTREMELY GENTLE but that still cleans)
tone with dr. hauschka clarifying toner
apply burt's bees tea tree oil blemish stick to any big spots
everyday
vitamin e
fish oil capsules
lots of water
3 cups of green tea
limit dairy and meats (still have some)
WHAT ELSE?
SO all you natural success stories.... what do you think?
I will try to get courage to post pictures soon.

So I just started this (I am on day 3), but it is a nice quick fix. Using this toner for the day helps reduce the redness/size/inflammation, as far as long term progress I will have to see.
Morning:
wash with warm water only
Apply toner of acv/water combo, aloe vera juice and lemon juice all over face. For large or really red ones I hold a soaked cotton ball to.
Sunflower oil as moisturizer (really helps, doesn't leave me as greasy as jojoba)
Night:
Cetaphyl to remove makeup
Hibiclens
acv/water, aloe vera, lemon juice toner
So far it has been working. It isn't a miracle by any means, but I have noticed small changes which is all I can ask for right now. Also, I like to mix it up and put it into the freezer and make ice out of and apply it like that. It could be my imagination but I think it works better when it is really cold/freezing.
Again, redness goes down a bit, reduction in size. Will be starting Pantothenic Acid (B5), Flax Seed oil gel tablets and B complex as soon as I get them but probably won't be for a while. HOPEFULLY I will get clear!

Bio
My name is Alyssa, I'm 14 years old and I've had mild acne since I was about 11. Right now redmarks are my biggest problem - but definitely some acne. Dry skin on the forehead area. My biggest area for acne is along the face and cheeks, occasionally on the forehead. I've tried a bunch of stuff ranging from Stridex to Proactive to Potatoes and natural stuff. lol. None of it has worked. BP irritated and dried out my skin, plus making it very sensitive. I considered my unhealthy diet and thought I'd try this out! Plus, as some of you probably know, being a teenager isn't the easiest job in the world, not to mention a female teenager

There'll probably be some boy drama, friend issues [and hopefully, resolutions], family drama, and other stupid crap. But see, that kinda ties in, you know, stress =P
Diet
My diet, well, it's pretty shitty. It consists of junk food and TONS of soda. I've tried to set out a plan for myself but that didn't go over so well. I'm a real procrastinator and never go through with things full set, but I'm REALLY set on it this time. I hoped that by making this thread, it'd be more 'official' because it's out there and I can't just delete it like a blog. I'm cutting out anything that comes in wrappers, eating more fruit and veggies, you know, the whole shabang. I know this will be really rough starting out, and I'm fully prepared for it.
I've had a workout plan going lately, and it consists of cardio and a variety of toning exercises over the course of six weeks. I've completed four [I think] weeks now, and I'm prepared to carry this out even longer, and possibly make it a life routine.
One thing I
definitely need is more water, so I'm doing that, too...
Any questions? Feel free to ask

Hello all, today i'm starting a log with Vitamin A and D.
So... let's begin!
Week 1
Day 1:
Vitamin toll:Vitamin A:
Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Supplements arrived around 10am. Today i'm taking all in one go at 1400hrs. I'm currently using a Tea Tree and Peppermint facial wash and no moisturiser, as I have oily skin - I'll keep you posted how this changes.
End of day 1, now I may just be imagining this - but my skin does seem slightly less oily already.
Day 2:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 30,000 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 30,000 IU @ 1630Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 2100Hrs
Total = 120,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,425 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 3,425 IU @ 1630Hrs
- 4,850 IU @ 2100Hrs
Total = 10,700 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Taken half of vitamins at 10am with glass of milk. Skin seems slightly drier, but not sure, it's usually quite dry in mornings anyway.
Took rest of vitamins at 16:30. No more changes so far.
Just [1700Hrs] had a bath, the usual routine, which is: Bit of Sanex Dermo Protector in the bath, wash face gently with the bath water, followed by rest of body. After that wash hair with Head & Shoulders for men. Finally, wash chest, shoulders and face with Superdrug Tea Tree & Peppermint. Leave it on for about 2minutes before washing off with clean warm (not hot, not cold) water from shower head. Oh and then pat (not rub!) dry with towel.
Noticed that my face is still quite dry now [1900Hrs] (2hours later), still feeling that 'tight' feeling, usually it would be more oily and tightness completely gone by now.
Been having a breakout anyway, so i've gone to a higher initial dose - don't really care if I have an initial breakout now; since i'm having one anyway! Had another 60,000 IU A; and 4,850 IU D with some full cream milk and a ham and cheese roll. Putting it to 120,000 IU A and 10,700 IU D for today. Going to continue on this dose tomorrow.
Also get paid tomorrow, so going to buy some Zinc, Magnesium and Calcium tablets + B-complex.
Day 3:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Woke up pretty late today, so took all the vitamins in one go at 1400hrs with glass of milk and a sandwich. Still breaking out, especially on my chest and back, lots of little whiteheads. I guess it's working then - the increased skin renewal bringing everything to the top at the same time >.<. Pity it has to look so bad!
My face isn't too bad - but that hasn't been my focus for a while now. Just a few little whiteheads there today, few more than usual but again I guess that's down to the increased renewal. Skin isn't 'dry' but it's definitely not so oily - it's just a little glossy, rather than visibly greasy.
Had bath at 1800hrs, just using Tea Tree & Peppermint wash on my nose now. Dries me out too much if I use it like I was. Nose was sooo soft after bath today, I had to really resist touching it xD! I'm curious to whether the breakout on my chest and back is P.Folliculitis or not, H&S didn't seem to make any difference to spots there when I used it for a few weeks a while ago. Some nodules on back though so I doubt it's PF, just the initial breakout I guess.
As I said above, just using TT+P on my nose. It's getting hard to balance the moisture of my face now. T-zone is usually a little bit oily now - but no where near what it was. However cheeks are getting pretty dry, a little oily still, but the oily-flakey way! Btw - cheaper than sebutape - push your mobile phone to your cheek and then look at screen for dots!
Day 4:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 IU @ 1300Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 1730Hrs
Total = 180,000 IU
Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Woke up, face isn't very visibly oily, but it never really is in the mornings. Tis my birthday today! So i'm pretty happy - that's got to help

! Took both vitamins at 1300hrs, might take some more later; but i'm planning to stay under 200,000 IU for at least this first week. I'm real tired though, so i'm going back to bed! I'm allowed to be lazy today, lol!
Been real tired most of the day, i'm hoping it's just a small B-vitamin or mineral deficiency, as that'll be cured when I start taking those supplements next week

. Visibly my face has a few more pimples than normal, but they're only tiny ones and there isn't many. Usually i'd have 1-2 active ones on my face, now it's about 3, but as I said they're really tiny. Overall I think my face looks better due to the reduction in oil. Everywhere else is worse though, my neck is broken out pretty bad - and the tea tree doesn't seem to have much effect on tiny pimples - only the bigger ones. But it has to get worse before it gets better, huh!
Taken 60,000 IU retinol at 1730Hrs. Putting it up to 180,000 / 10,700 IU Retinol / Cholecalciferol. No symptoms have arrisen yet, lips are still moist etc.
Here is what has popped up on my chest, lots of tiny red dots! PF or Acne I wonder?
[attachment=13695:pforacne.jpg]
I've had a few of these before, but now since starting the Vitamin A & D lots more have popped up - I wonder if it is due to this, from the increased epidermal turnover. Or, I wonder if it's due to using Tea Tree + Peppermint wash on my chest - an anti-bacterial, thus letting the P.Folliculitis flourish? Of course it's early yet, so will have to see how it turns out!
Alcohol is quite an interesting drug! Got totally smaaaaaashed! Let's see how this goes. Got a date tomorrow for a belated bday drink ^^. I hope i'm pretty clear tomorrow since it's first time i'll be meeting this beautiful girl

. Gnite acne.org community xx.
^^^
Don't remember typing that, lol!
Day 5:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 IU @ 1600Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 2100Hrs
Total = 180,000 IU
Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Well, my skin looked pretty bad when I woke up; a few big whiteheads on my neck - punishment for partying, but it was worth it! After a relaxing bath and a few hours it's looking much better.
Skin was a bit more oily today than past few days - i'm guessing due to drinking so much, and the alcohols competing for the saturated fats! Face is still pretty clear, neck is proving troublesome as always and body continuing to be a nightmare

.
Found cure to skin remaining tight for so long, a tiny bit of moisturiser just on the line where skin changes from ehm... 'face skin' to 'around eyes skin'. If only all my skin was like the 'around eyes skin' so soft and even

. Does it even have pores?
Day 6:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 0800Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 1800Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 2300Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 2,850 IU @ 0800Hrs
- 2,850 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 850 IU @ 1800Hrs
- 850 IU @ 2300Hrs
Total = 10,250 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Having to to exfoliate every day now or I get visible dead flakey skin! No side effects yet.
Day 7:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 120,000 IU @ 1600Hrs
- 120,000 IU @ 2200Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 5,700 IU @ 1600Hrs
- 3,700 IU @ 2200Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Nothing special happening yet. Skin perhaps isn't so oily as expected, but it's not exceptionally dry either - and not experiencing any dry lips yet.
Day 8:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 IU @ 0400Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 0930Hrs
- 120,000 IU @ 2000Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 5,700 @ 0400Hrs
- 850 IU @ 0930Hrs
- 5,700 @ 2000Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Skin quite oily today - mind you I missed a bath - only had one yesterday morning, and just now this morning. Face quite itchy too - no signs of any irritation or anything, just itchy! Hard to resist touching it.
Expecting dry skin to come soon, as i'm up to 300,000 IU / day now for past 3 days inc. today. It's kinda hard getting the saturated fats intake without binging on rubbish, so suggestions for meals much appreciated! At the moment i'm going crazy on the full english breakfasts, and pizzas when i'm feeling peckish

. Such a devil! Surprising how little saturated fats is in a three-cheese pizza though, 82% of daily saturates RDA in a whole one. I was expecting over the RDA by a crazy amount! It was very nice though, so i'm not gonna complain. Bacon sarnies are very much on the menu as well - fried in lard haha. Funnily though with all this rubbish (tasty rubbish might I add) i'm not breaking out any more than usual

.
Day 9:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0420Hrs
- 120,000 @ 0930Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1700Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0420Hrs
- 3,700 @ 0930Hrs
- 5,700 @ 1700Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Been strangely hungry a lot more than usual the last two days. Skin so far is 'meh' no dryness yet. Definitely been oilier these past two days, and exfoliating with baking soda is a must (or exfoliating any how, but baking soda seems least irritating way).
Over exfoliated a bit I think this morning, felt a bit sensitive for a while (peppermint amplified the sensation). Went a bit red but a few hours later it was completely fine. I *think* the issue is that i'm using Baking Powder and not Soda (I put it in an unlabeled pot aggeeees ago and just started using it again recently, don't remember which it was), so it has some Tartaric acid in it as well as the Bi-carb. But it seems ok - saves me using ACV to neutralise! Though when i've used all which i've got i'll be using Bi-carb + ACV. Going to try the egg white and lemon mask in evenings too.
Started on the B-Complex and Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc today. I'm not gonna type out all those things included in them! So just click them for a link to the label.
Day 10:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0700Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1630Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1815Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0700Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1630Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1815Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Neck is breaking out *majorly*. Never had an issue with it before, really. Hopefully it'll clear up soon. Seems something i've started doing recently (most likely the vitamins but it could be something else i'm overlooking) is breaking me out in places I don't normally break out, and quite severely. I'll reserve judgement till when the A starts poisoning me! (dryness).
Mentally i'm really happy and full of energy lately, which is nice. I can tell when i'm full of energy even if i'm not mentally feeling it, from how I tap my foot all the time

! My short term memory seems improved too (I have to use it at work, so changes are noticable

). All-in-all since starting this regimen the outcome is positive so far, imo. Even if the breakout on neck is annoying as hell - since can't really treat with anything since the neck skin is so sensitive - it'd just break out more! I guess just waiting it out is best.
Oh and before I forget, I started Dead Sea Salt today. In my bath that is. Not every one of course, but in my morning one today, and I plan to do it say... twice a week. Right now it's only 250G / bath, but i'm probably going to buy some in larger quantities (using Edom 250G packets atm) and put 500g to 1kg in - most likely nearer to the 500g, since our bath is quite small.
Day 11:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0700Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1100Hrs
- 120,000 @ 2000Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0700Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1100Hrs
- 4,700 @ 2000Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Work today - 7:30 -> 5pm - what a drag! Working in a hot shop, getting sweaty/oily and not being able to do anything about it, urgh! I most definitely enjoy my relaxing bath after work, oh yes

. After my bath today skin was flakey, that never usually happens - i'm usually only flaky after a bath in the mornings. Another thing i've noticed - my nose is getting flakey - the entrance to nostrils that is. Lips aren't getting flakey yet and skin is still pretty oily as per norm.
Going out tonight so alcohol gonna be fighting those vitamins for the fat to dissolve in

, so I expect a little set-back from that, but I refuse to let any thing stop me from having a fun saturday night so meh to it! Maybe y'all will get another drunken message haha.
On note of the Dead Sea Salt bathes; i'm really liking them. Placebo or otherwise, but I really do feel quite relaxed and just generally good after lazing about in the bath for 30mins with not a care in the world - whilst genuinely having faith in them - so no one have me think otherwise or they might stop working, lol!
Day 12:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0530Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1845Hrs
- 120,000 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0530Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1845Hrs
- 4,700 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Lips bit dried out today, not sure if it's alcohol or the vitamin A causing it. Nothing else notable has happened. Bit of a sore throat, don't know if it's due to a cold coming on or the vitamins - it's probably the latter, since high dose vitamin A reportedly makes you pretty much immune to colds for the duration.
Day 13:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 @ 0945Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1700Hrs
- 60,000 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 4,700 @ 0945Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1700Hrs
- 2,850 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Well, I woke up and went to pee. Flourescent pee, wahey! B-Vitamins are fun. Lips today were quite dry and flakey, lots of dead skin i been biting at all day. Cannibalism, rwaaagh! Face was pretty flakey too (but not dry), nothing a bit of bicarb in the morning didn't solve

. Sore throat turned out to be a cold for sure - I got runny nose today. Well, that sucks - Vitamin A is meant to make me immune!! Random-internet-blog-1001312342345 lied to me!!! Oh well... let's just hope it makes the duration really short... or something nice at least. I hate colds.
Oh and I should mention how my pimples are getting on, seeing how this is a blog about that, shouldn't I! Well... neck is clearing up on left side, right side still a little crazy but I think it's withdrawing (DIE DIE DIE! helped?). Face is pretty much nearly clear as normal, few whiteheads and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks plus a few red marks where I erm... 'nailed' tiny whiteheads too vigorously (no, i'll never give that up!). I've stopped biting my nails though. They're getting long (eek!).
Chest is so-so, I don't know if it's getting better or not. The tiny red spots have definitely reduced, but overall I think there's not much improvement, maybe i'll take a photo somewhen and let you all decide.
Back is muchos crazy, as always! Well, to be honest I think it's mostly red marks opposed to lots of actives. I've got a few little scars on my shoulders and back from when I had it at it's worst, I don't think any of what I get now leaves scars, but if they did I wouldn't really notice anyway! My dad still has some scars from when he had backne in his teens-early twenties. And he's 76 (next week)! I'm hoping the combination of the vitamins and the dead sea salt will send the backne fleeing for the hills, we shall see

. I don't care if it doesn't though, it's not like it affects my life much. Chest and neck are highest priority

.
Day 14:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 @ 1100Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1500Hrs
- 60,000 @ 1845Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 4,700 @ 1100Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1500Hrs
- 2,850 @ 1845Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Well, it's now the two week mark! Has flown by. Cold is manifesting itself a little more, nothing serious (it's only a cold!) but still annoying. Drinking lots of orange juice to try and scare it away, hopefully it'll work.
So my skin is kinda well... normal now. My face that is - it's evenly 'oiled' - no oily shiny tzone, yay. Lips getting drier it seems, not as bad (flake wise) as on monday though - but they were exposed to the elements that day with my job.
Nostrils a little flakey today, seems to build-up flakes of dead skin every few days. Note to self: exfoliate nostrils each day! The entrance to them that is, I don't fancy bicarb up my nose.
Inflammation on my neck is dying down, but I put this down to me not poking and prodding it. There's a new spot on left side, but otherwise that side is pretty much clear now. I'm going to keep up this willpower until it is totally gone! Besides, with no work midweek I can stay in and not worry about whiteheads. This convenience helps for my back too!
So... my back then. Well, I haven't looked at it much today really! Yesterday I went crazy and clawed at all the big white heads. Not smart! I could feel afterward as I was having a bath that i'd created a lot of inflammation from doing that... It was a mountain range! Fortunately this morning it felt smooth with just a few bumps. So i'm going to resist doing anything to it. The only real problem area seems to be the backs of the shoulders, the rest is minor in comparison. There is a cyst right smack bang in the middle of my back though, luckily it's dead-on in the middle, if it was to the sides a little i'm sure it'd hurt when I move my shoulder blades. I'm not touching it, it doesn't exist (repeats to self.. "it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist")! Really, I don't notice my back at all apart from when I have a bath, so i'm going to refrain from looking in the mirror when I do - then i'll get a nice surprise (or I better do) when I look in a month or something.
I'm gonna start posting in a new post, since i've run out of smilies for this one!! Say, a week/post, with links to them in this first one.

Hi guys im making this post to share something that has worked tremendously for me, coconut oil.
so ill give you guys a bit of a brief on my skins history. it started 3 years ago when i got my first few pimples. i paniced and as we all do we believe through the high budget advertising that creams such as benzoyl peroxide will stop the acne. However it did not stop it did not get worse as such however i used it so much that it damaged my skin extremely. After a few months of benzoyl peroxide i quit using it and for the next 2 years tryed every otc product to make my skin "normal" damaging it extremely in the process. the things i have used over the past 2 years include: mild cleanseers, harsh cleansers, natural cleansers,just water, no water at all+ no cleansers, lemons, sea salt, sunligght, urine, seman (yes i got that desperate)l , acv, baking soda etc etc.
I would like to point out at this stage that before i found the cocnut oil i did not suffer from acne i suffered from "DAMAGED SKIN" my skin was so stripped of its natural protection i basically got dandruff on my face (seborrheic dermaitis), which is large red patches with peeling skin. something extremely disgusting to look at. My skin also looked like shit, uneven skin tone, papery texture lots of large pores all the crap youd expect after years of phony treatments (except acv it helped but it did "heal" it masked the problem).
OK 7 days ago i went out to a night club with my skin looking like shit. a lot of people i know were there and i was receivng commenrts like "man are you burnt" "dude you look like u got a sunglasses burn mark" "what is that acne?" all kinds of crap, i looked like a red glowing wierdo and i couoldnt handle it. i called my mum to pick me up from the night club i just had to get out.
on the way home i broke down i cried in the car to my mum for the first time in 3 years. i mean it was the first time in 3 years i told anyone how i felt about my skin. i let it all out and thank god i did. i thought i could beat my skin addiction by myself and i was also embarrased to tell my parents and ask them to buy me products for it i would always go to the shop which would stress me out hence my rashes flame up etc etc downward spiral.
but i finally told her and my dad too which was good they understood and said we will fix this and get your life back on track. i forgot to mention that i have done a lot of internet based research on skin and how to make it heal etc etc. so i told them all the stuff i learnt about the acid mantle and using natural products noty the chemical laden crap that is so highly advertised. so on one of my internet sessions i came across coconut oil, first thing i saw was "coconut oil help heal the skins celll structure" sojmething like that so i researhced it more and decided to give it a go. i was now able to tell mum what to get for me and i didn have to worry about going to the shops (yes i was so conscious of my skin i could not go to the shops).
that was 7 days ago. now id like to talk about the coconut oil itself. Now i really not sure why it gives such great resukts but im pretty sure its because it contains like 90% medium fatty acids, which is also what sebum is made up of. As i stated before i gave the caveman regime a trial for 7 days and at the end my skin was a flaky mess but it did feel alot healthier and betterand this was i think because of the sebum.
so anyway ive been applying the coconut oil (make sure its OGRANIC VIRGIN UNREFINED - you can buy it at your local health store) to my face after i shower (its quite greasy but it absorbs realy well after a shower) and OMG my results are fucking incredible i cant believe it. Seriously my skin has neevvvvvvvverr looked this good in ages. NO PIMPLES NO RASHES EVEN SKIN TONE EVERYTHING! and thats only after a fucking weeek!!!
ILL try post again in a week and share if it gets better , but omg guys atm its looking so good i actually want to go out in public and show it off im tha happy.
I HOPE ive helped someone with the post i know its long as fuck but i had to get my story out there becuase fuck i honestly dont know where id be if i didnt find this miracle oil.
Please do some research on the oil if ur semi interested by my post , trust me youll be intrigued when u read the stuff out there!
thanks again!

Hey everybody,
I have, like many of you, tried almost every acne medication under the sun, except for Accutane, which i'm not entirely willing to go on.
I have read a lot of different things about the benefit of Green Tea so i decided to try it. MY first day was today and I had two cups of hot green tea, but I had a kinda interesting idea...
I found zinc lozenges in my house upstairs and I know that zinc is good for acne and the prevention of pimples so i ground up a lozenge which broke down even more once i put them in the tea. They are orange flavored and really didn't taste badly at all...
After i steeped the tea i rubbed the tea bag on my face which felt very soothing...
I hope to see less pimples and decreased redness... I'll let you all know how it goes!!

My face is CLEAR!
Still following the healthy diet and still getting the odd pre-menstrual out-break but holy crap! I no longer feel the need to trough on the make-up and in general I feel alot better about myself.
ALSO quit smoking which I believe has been a MAJOR factor in my skin clearing.
The topical Ibu-gel is great for actives, the olive oil is great for scarring but on the whole you need to STOP it from happening in the first place. My skin is bright, dark circles round my eyes are fading, its all good.
Seriously, if you smoke, try giving up. Do be ready for a few weeks of getting sick as a dog as your body rids itself of carbon monoxide though, that bit was nasty, but now, 8 weeks smoke free, its a doddle!

Would like to get an idea of people's experiences with MSM natural sulfur. How much do you guys take, do you notice any side effect? How effective do you believe that it is? Thanks!

Hi guys,
I am wondering 2 things: #1 if you guys have experience with milk thistle (which is an herb that is supposed to stengthen the liver), could you post and list any side effects and also if you think it helped your acne
#2 what do you guys think about taking milk thistle and DIM together? I was reading about calcium d-glucarate today and got onto this site explaining the 20 amino acids that your liver needs to to it's job of removing toxins and I started thinking my god, I can't take 20 supplements for my liver!! Milk thistle is supposed to help the liver do its job by helping it to regenerate itself and grow new cells...what do you guys think? ANy input appreciated!

So! On with my story. It's long, so if you get bored skip to text below the dotted line!
I am a 16 year old acne sufferer, I have had acne since i was 13, but back then my face was not anything to worry about. It basically consisted of a few whiteheads on my forehead. In 15 my acne advanced to the far sides of my cheeks, but still, it was mild to moderate acne.
Nevertheless, I ordered Dan's regimen, and applied it at night and washed it off after school. It helped, my acne became very mild, and although it did not completely subside, it did not go ballistic on me. I was confident that I would be 99% clear if I applied BP 2 times a day, but was too lazy to do it in the morning.
The regimen went on for a year and half, and all through that time my skin remained having mild acne. However, at the same time I began having body acne on my upper chest. I began applying BP on my lower neck and upper chest. While the acne disappeared on the immediate area under the BP, more pastules began forming around the application area. I reasoned that the BP was drying up the area around it as well. Also at this time, my skin was stepping upon moderate acne. In frustration, I gave up BP.
I tried some other treatments, including AHA+ and urine treatment, but none of this helped. I decided to go back to BP, and increase my usage to 2 times a day. It completely dried up my skin, despite the copious amounts of moisturizer i slapped on after. It was after my third day of application, when my face stung from dryness, that I decided that i had to give it up again.
I should note that all through the months of applying BP, I never liked it one bit. The paste felt uncomfortable while it dried, and the moisturizer made my face shiny and wet. All through the day, the BP would ball up when I touched my face. However, I sticked with it, glad that it kept me from having to worry about acne.
During the past two weeks, my acne has worsened drastically. I don't have nodules or cysts, but simply a lot of zits and red marks spread evenly throughout my face. I am determined to cure it naturally.
I have read a lot of posts on here that advocate for better health. I'm sure my sudden breakout is caused by hormones, since my diet or living habits have not changed. However, I am also certain that it can be cured without the use of topicals.
I have been on the "do nothing" regimen for two days already, and although it has not helped me acne-wise, my skin feels smoother and more moisturized. Body acne has begun to fade. All in all, my face feels more comfortable. I am determined that, even if I have to live with my current state of acne, I will not resort to those chemical-infested topicals.
Better health has always been one of the things I have been wanting to achieve. Not only for my skin, but for me. I reason that acne does start from within, and putting creams on your face will do nothing to cure the cause. Even if the health thing fails to cure my skin, I should still be happy the results.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically, I aim to:
1. Drink two glasses of ACV-water a day (two tablespoons each)
2. Not wash my face at all. Not even in the shower. I will blotch off the oil if it is super oily.
3. Not touch my face at all.
4. Stop eating fast food (I have been eating Mcdonalds non-stop for the last 2 months)
5. Drink a litre of water a day outside the ACV water.
6. Cut down on sugar intake
7. Exercise?... meh, its snowy, maybe later.
Since I am unable to get the ACV right now.. (holidays.. and huge snow storm), I will start the ACV on January 1, 2009. It's like a new year's resolution! Wish me luck!

Quick breakdown here, I have had acne for about 12 years now, started when I was 18 and had my first child. Unfortunately, I have spent thousands of dollars trying to get rid of it, but to no avail. I do not drink soda or alcohol, I do not smoke, I very rarely eat foods that are fried or unhealthy, I do not wear make-up and I excercise regularly. I just had my 30th birthday the beginning of the year and decided I was going to do whatever it took to take care of this and feel good about myself, at this point I had developed really bad hyperpigmentation on my chin, cheeks and forehead as well as cystic acne, I was really depressed!! My husband is super, says I am beautiful and all of the different things I try are uneccesary, how sweet, right? But we all know that no matter what our spouses say, we see what we see, and feel what we feel.
I have tried EVERYTHING! Not to say anything about Dan's regimen, but it didn't work for me, or anything else for that matter, oral medication made me so sick to my stomach, I couldn't function.
My face is almost clear. I have NO hyperpigmentation either! Unfortunately, it is not just ONE thing that did it for me.
For my Hyperpigmentation, I started using Obagi on April 17th. After 1 month, there was a visible difference, you can't even tell that I had it now. If you do not have hyperpigmentation, you probably don't need this because it is a little pricey. It works great for the aging factor and age spots and hyperpigmentation though.
For my overall health and acne, I started taking vitamins and changed my diet even more.
Vitamins: NO Particular Brand
24000 IU of Vitamin A
Calcium with D
Super B Complex
Minerals
But it wasn't until I quit dairy that my face really changed.
Diet:
I had to stop dairy COMPLETELY! Absolutely nothing with dairy, if it says it contains milk, I can't eat it. I have had to transition to soy and non-dairy products. Fish and Chicken very little red meat. I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. I LOVE food and cheese and I LOVE to cook and make new recipes, so this has been REALLY difficult for me, but I am doing it one day at a time. It seems like a steep price to pay for great skin, but I would rather be able to show my face anytime.
I would say that if your skin is similar to mine, give this a try. It is low cost compared to all of the things you have probably tried up to this point. If you have any questions, ask me, I will be more than happy to help in any way I can. I will try to get some pictures posted in the next week or so.

but am I neglecting any nutrients?
here's my diet:
Breakfast
-Scrambled eggs (2 yolks, 6 whites) (Xtra virgin olive oil OR smart balance butter) (no salt)
-2-3 glasses of water
-1 glass of 2% reduced fat milk (no growth hormones added)
Rest of the day until dinner
-Chicken/Beef
-Water
-Salad (Lettuce, spinach, tomato, avocado, pickles, celery, carrots)
-I eat as much as I can of foods above
-Sometimes 1 granola bar (broken in portions during the day)
Dinner
-Leftovers of above
-1 glass of milk
-1 baby's handful of any organic cereal
Supplements
-Fish oil pills
I'm clearing up. The only time I get acne (a little) is when I eat the granola bar all at once, or two.
So do you think I'm neglecting a vitamin or something? besides vitamin C

I want to get back to eating more healthfully but all the different info regarding diet has me feeling a little overwhelmed & unsure. Rather than doing a complete overhaul of my eating habits, I want to start gradually with a few things at first & build on that... Maybe focus on making sure I drink enough water & cut out sugar as much as possible???

I'm considering giving this a try since as I've gotten older (42 now) my skin has become more and more sensitive. I can't use BP or SA since it's too harsh. I also can't seem to find a moisturizer that doesn't block pores and thought maybe I'd give OCM a try since it'd moisturize and clean.
BUT most posts I find on here and Makeupalley are people who have just started or have used it for a few weeks. The only longterm user posts I see are scary, a number of them report having Cysts and Boils! Anyone out there who's used this method long term w/positive outcomes?

Just a log of what I USED to do.
Wash face with CETAPHIL
Toner? I don't think I used one
Apply Vitamin A&D
Aloe straight from plant
Acidophilus (sp?) Probiotics
I could have sworn it was the Cetaphil. The Vit A&D. The Aloe, definitely. I was just taking the probiotics for recurrent yeast infections during and after my first pregnancy. Now, I think they were the key to my acne success. And guess what? I threw the friggin thing in the TRASH!!!! Ughhh!
It didn't cost that mush though, so I'll be purchasing more. Wish me luck!

HI! I am 34, have cystic acne localized on my chin/jawline. I've had the same spot for over two years. I developed it in the latter stages of my last pregnancy (twins), and haven't seen an improvement despite doc prescribed oral and topical antibiotics and retin-A. So, the other day I just decided to take matters into my own hands!
I did the research and it I have just about every symptom associated with low estrogen levels. I'm not suprised, this last pregnancy just about ruined me, physically and mentally. I am half the woman I used to be. I lost a lot of weight (good) and lost my mind in the process (bad).
So, my kids get a lot of staph and yeast infections and I have topical anti-fungal creams and anti-biotic creams. 4 days ago I stopped the doc's stuff and started applying the anti-fungal 2X daily. I also started exercising (real exercise, not just chasing 5 kids at the park), forcing myself to drink water and take vitamins and supplements...B, C, evening primrose oil, wild yam root, multis and calcium. I have seen a nice improvement already! the cysts have shrunk some and the redness is all but gone, itching gone!! I have just started my cycle, so I'm battling against that, but I really think this could be a good thing.
I'll keep y'all posted on how the new routine works. I am praying it does wonders!!!

I started doing no dairy and saw a small improvement (mostly in my mood). Then I finally gave up gluten and I stopped getting zits after having them regularly for 12 years. My depression is pretty much gone as well. I eat vegetables, beans, rice, eggs, tons of avocado, salad, nuts, rice noodles, berries. I feel great and have a really good appetite. I haven't gained or lost any weight. My mom has been off gluten too. She still gets zits at 52. This morning she ate a bagel and her face and knees turned bright red. She thinks it could have orange juice. Don't know what this means yet but I'll let you know if we narrow it down.

To all you guys and girls who have cleared acne through diet...
I went to see the derm this week who insisted on perscribing me a course of antibiotics for my acne. When i expressed my concerns he said well its either that or roaccuntane....No please not again! I asked him what he thought about acne and diet and he said it was all rubbish, not related at all! I sooo wanna prove him wrong so i'm gonna make massive changes to my diet.
Fors starters i'll be cutting out all processed foods, sugar, wheat, most gluten, dairy & red meat and just basically eating a diet of whole foods.
But this is gonna be no good if i'm still eating something which i think is healthy i.e nuts but is actually causing my skin to break out, so...
Whats the best way of finding out what foods you have intolerences/allergys to? Is it a case of trail and error or are there any tests you can recomend i have done?

I read many valuable posts in this forum. I want to ask something. I want to create my own diet regimen. I want a simple way to do that. I want to ask what i need to eat, exactly. I know that there are many bad things in various products, but the people like me can't be sure if some particular product fits correctly to him/her.
Sorry for my english..
Breakfast:
Eggs (boiled etc)
Some vegetables or fruits (for example, cucumber, cabbage, lettuce)
Coconut Oil
Dinner:
Meat (chiken, turkey, pork, beef)
Fish (excepting salmon)
Vegetables or fruits
Taking acidad food: lemon juice. Drink least 5 cups of water daily.
Not to eat: avoid sugar, dairy, potatoes, avoid leaven, mushrooms.
What about bread and grains?
I also take Omega-H3 a nutrient health supplement daily.
I want you concretize food which i can eat.
It's hard to live all the time with those bastards.

Hi there. I’m a long-time lurker on these boards and have finally decided to go public with my latest efforts to try and fix my skin, because if it’s out in the open maybe I’ll stick to my new regimen!
I’m 29 and have suffered from acne since I was 12 or 13. I have tried antibiotics (many times over the last 13 years), benzoyl peroxide, Diane-35 and normal OCs, Roaccutane, Isotrexin and Zineryt. Most of these have worked for a short time, then the little b&%$*^d spots come back!
I believe that my acne is caused by a hormonal imbalance, and I’m quite convinced that my diet plays a huge part in that.
I know that dairy contributes to my acne. Years ago I read one of those articles on the acne-dairy link, and I decided to try and see if dairy affected my skin. I gave up my daily 200ml serving of calcium-enriched milk and my pot of yoghurt, and within a week the horrible, painful deep cysts on/under my jawline had disappeared. My diet has been 95% dairy-free for almost 7 years, and the really bad cysts have been kept at bay. If I eat cheese I get tiny pustules within 12 hours.
So, that’s the painful cysts gone, but the rest of my face is a bit of a mess at the moment. I have a HUGE sweet tooth, and if I overindulge I definitely break out. Most of the spots you can see in the pics (see link below) are the result of bingeing on (homemade) cookies and banana bread. Note the bread was low in added sugar but high in very ripe bananas ie fructose. I have put on a bit of weight since returning to study, so my latest effort at cleansing my skin is really about getting my whole body back on track.
I generally eat a fairly healthy diet however am always sabotaging it with some sort of junk food (because I’m a regular gym-goer I think I can get away with it!). I am going to use this blog to document what I have been eating, and to hopefully stick to a healthy, unprocessed diet for once in my life!
All questions/constructive comments welcome!

Greetings...
Fortunately I don't break out anymore. I still do have red marks and my skin just doesn't look nice. Here is my regimen to try and make my skin look like a babies

:
I swim everyday for 3 hours. After I swim I take a shower, and that is the only two times where my face makes contact with any water. No chemicals, No moisturizers, nothing.. I was never into those peels, cleansers, w/e; I never believed they would really help.
I am also going to steam my face 3x a week for 10 minutes, I really don't know if this helps, but it feels cool, so I'll add it.
Once a week though, I will exfoliate my face/body using Olive oil and Salt.
Sense I exercise A LOT, I sweat A LOT; I believe this should help keep my pores clean by a long shot. (Sweat pushing the dirt out) (I don't know if this is true, but It sounds right).
All my exercise is done before swimming btw, no more sweating after shower!
I am REALLY focused on diet/nutrition
My Diet
10+ cups of warm water a day
NO SUGARS
Low carbs (under 20 grams a day)
High Protein
Moderate fat (good fat, not trans fat) (If you didn't know Omega-3 is very anti-inflam...)
My supplements
- 50,000 iu of beta C (This converts into Vitamin A when ever the body needs it, so perfect imo!)
- 400 iu of Vitamin E (duh)
- 5 Grams of Vitamin C (Yes very high intake, I know what i'm doing; Collagen Synthesis + Potent anti oxidant)
- 2 grams of green tea extract (They say 1 cup of green tea contains 150mg of that extract stuff, I am taking 2 grams of the pure extract)
- 3 grams of grape seed extract (powerful anti oxidant)
- Flax seed oil
- All Vitamin b complex (high doses)
- 10k mcg of Biotin
- 1 gram Insotin (sp?)
What ya people think?

Criticism would be greatly appreciated and I will keep updates everyday! I know I don't break out anymore, but my skin is also far from perfect.
Thankss

hi guys ive decided to create this log and try this method because its been a bit over 3 years of suffering from pretty bad skin and its basically had extreme negative effects on myself my mind and my confidence etc. basically i have little acne but i suffer from insane dermatitis where i have thinned my skin due to the use of lots of harsh otc products and red marks / rough skin texture / scars the lot. i dont have a current regime at all as i believe the key to being happy with ur skin is to basically forget about it and not stress about it, however just using water seems not to help my skin to be honest, the water just seems to dry it out and cause dermatitis hence i stress and hence it gets worse and u get my point it basically spirals into a vicious cycle. So basically in the next month i plan to not wash my face / not think about it, but not worry too much if i get a bit of water on it by accident, im just trying not to stress about it at all and let it heal on its own. I plan to excercise and let sweat dry on my skin as ive only experienced good results in doing so. I will also try n let rain water hit my skin as its ph is 5.5 or something i believe and this will only help my skin and its natural!
Becuase i really believe i need to do this to finally be free of my skin and not think about it i decided to shave my head so that my hair would not get annoying and get oily and make me stress about it touching my skin etc etc. (to put the sacrifice into perspective i had baby dreadlocks and when i cut them it felt like breaking up with a girlfriend!! wierd i know but u really do get attached to dreaded hair lol)
um thats about it, im not sure how often ill post because obviously im trying to forget about it, but i will still try n post updates so to help others if they want to know if this method works and what happens etc.
so i will give u guys an update on where im at atm. My skin looks good in dimmed light however just atrocious (spelling) in bright light (this is something i dont want to be afraid of anymore as u cant go through life being afraid of god dam light!). My oil production is reallly quite good atm as ive not really used any otc products in months however the dermatitis is still strong as ever.
so yeah im just gonna live my life n try n forget about my skin!!
peace out!

I would like to start a new regimen treating my acne condition by healing my whole body.
I will concentrate on diet, exercise emotional, spiritual aspects of healing my whole body.
I am 27 year old female. I have had acne since i was 11. At 12 the Dr put my on antibotics, the only one that worked was Bactrim. I was on that till 19, than accutane. I went on my second round of accutane at 21. Than back on Bactrim till 25.
Topicals has never worked. I have tried them all. I have fair yellow complexion and my acne is mild/severe.
Diet= mainly vegetarian, some fish and eggs once in awhile. No wheat, no dairy, no sugar, no caffeine
Exercise=daily practice of 1 hour 30 min ashtanga yoga, minus moon days, lady's holiday i will do kundalini yoga
Emotional= daily practice of meditation 30 min to better ground myself, destress, and no react emotionaly but fully think things through, i will also not focus on negative thoughts including acne. therefor, i will only update this monthly. i will also not watch any news, suspense movies, or depressing shows
Spiritual= yoga+mediation, mantras
Will keep ya updated.

Hi everyone!I have gotten so fed up with my chin and jaw acne. I am trying a new approach, and will tweak it as needed in the coming weeks/months. Right now, most of the stuff I'm trying are relatively new. This is my log that I hope will eventually help others in my situation.
My background:Female, ~110 lb and 5'3". No other major health problems besides acne.
*Edit: Ok, I forgot that I have cholinergic urticaria (heat induced hives) after taking a shower--see a few posts down* I have had moderate acne since I hit puberty. I am now 28. I would get cystic acne all over my face, but starting about 6 months ago my acne has shifted to my chin and jaw. It's still cystic acne, but just condensed around my chin. All of my acne leaves horrible dark marks that last for months.
At a "good" time of the month, I have 0-2 cystic pimples. At THAT time of the month, I have had up to 8 cystic pimples.
Skin Type:Oily, large pores, acne causes hyperpigmentation, moderate cystic acne
My previous routine: ProActiv's 3 step system, tea tree oil on spots. Tried to stay away from sugar, dairy, nuts, gluten, but not extremely strict about it. No supplements. This was working somewhat, but wasn't getting rid of or preventing my monthly flareups!
My current routine: AM and PM: Wash face w/ ProActiv cleanser, apply Merle Norman's AHA lotion (This has done a lot to clear my forehead/cheek acne! amazing!), spot treat with tea tree oil. I have had this AM/PM routine for about 1 month. Every now and then I'll do an aspirin mask. At night only, I will remove makeup with coconut oil (I LOVE how this works!!

)
Makeup: spot concealer with Revlon Color Stay, ProActiv all over face powder, light touch of Revlon ColorStay foundation on forehead and cheeks, sometimes everyday minerals foundation.
*Edit: Now I am just using Everyday Minerals, and I LOVE it! Daily Supplements: Probiotic L. bacillus supplement, 1/4 cup Rejuvelac drink, 1 tbsp Coconut oil supplement, 1 clove raw garlic, Pau D'Arco tea, Vitamin C whole food supplement, Magnesium Citrate supplement
*Edit: Since starting the elimination diet (see a few posts down), I have only been taking probiotics, raw garlic and coconut oil*Diet: The only oil I am cooking with is coconut oil. No dairy, wheat, processed sugar, bad fats, nuts. Plenty of water, lemon, garlic. Celtic sea salt, no other spices. Oysters, liver, low temperature cooking.
*Edit: Now I am doing an elimination diet. No oysters, liver, shellfish, citrus, etc. See a few posts down* Sometimes I will have EVOO. No bad fats/oils.
Sleep: I get at least 9 hours of sleep each night. Yes, I'm lucky that I have a job that starts late.

Ive read many of the diet logs here and picked up some great advice. Ive put together a lil' system of what I feel the best bits are to try (Ill be guinea pig, feel free to join me lol)
I am totally disgusted by the monopoly that is OTC meds and topicals. I truly believe they are counter productive to both our skin health AND our pockets. I am also no longer using the topical anti-biotic, it stings too much for me to care for the effects, so natural is the way Im headed.
I am avoiding packaged foods in an attempt to limit my additive/preservative consumption already, however I have discovered that even fresh meat, veg and fruit that has been packaged/bagged has levels of anti-oxidising agents added, so my meat is now fresh from the butcher then frozen at home. Veg from the farmers markets and seasonal fruits (no citrus as it really does affect me)
Im not a fan of dairy so Im ditching that completely, always gives me gut rot anyway!
My current skincare:
Skin Wisdom by Bharti Vyas cleanser, toner, day and night moisturiser.
Olive oil on red marks and scars
Ibuprofen gel on actives
Exfoliate 2 x weekly with Skin Wisdom jojoba exfoliant
Current meds: (I dont rattle when I walk....yet lol)
1000mg Evening Primrose Oil
15mg chelated Zinc and Copper
Vitamin B Complex
1000mg Vitamin C (the dissolvable kind... raspberry... mmmmmmmmmm)
Fexofenadine (anti-histhamine for my many allergies... could it be a factor? Iunno)
Current skin condition:
Very dry and irritated all over
Numerous red marks and scars
3 actives (no head... what are they called?)
MANY MANY healing ones
So... here goes, a new healthy me!
