Due to the recent influx of Paleo diet threads and general questions being asked on users logs, I thought it would be handy to have a thread dedicated to the paleo diet.
Use this thread to post questions, answers, give others tips and advice or maybe post up a few tasty recipes.
Have fun

I'm new here, hoping to benefit from your advice and maybe even to help someone else! First I will tell you about my history: I am 24 years old and have suffered with acne for about 10 years. I had what you would classify as severe acne from about 16 to 19 at which point after trying lots of different topical treatments I decided to give in and try minocycline. Mino worked great for about a year, but then I got a couple of blue spots on my leg and had to discontinue it (In retrospect considering all of the health problems mino might cause I'm glad that I didn't stay on it longer!). After Mino I went on doxycycline and ortho tri cyclen for about 2.5 years. My acne was mostly mild/moderate...definitely noticeable at times but not terrible. Then I decided to go off doxy and my skin was terrible! Not quite as bad as in high school but bad enough that there were some days I didn't want to leave the house, and my face was just painful to touch because of all of the cystic acne. Last summer I tried four aramis laser and v-beam treatments (like smoothbeam) with very little success. My skin seemed slightly less oily (but still oily) but I was still breaking out pretty badly. For the last 6 weeks I've been trying to make changes in my diet and seem to have had some success. Here is what I've been doing/what I intend to do:
For the last 6 weeks I've completely cut out dairy from cows limited nuts (unfortunately they do seem to trigger skin issues), red meat (no more than one or two servings a week), white flour and or processed products and very unfortunately baked goods/high sugar foods.
Also I've been including lots of fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats like chicken and turkey, salmon, goat cheese on occasion (not sure if this hurts me or not), green tea (esp. matcha), omega 3 enriched eggs, olive oil, soy (this doesn't appear to aggravate my skin), and whole grain/whole wheat breads (I'm thinking of limiting my wheat--would love suggestions on what types of breads are best to eat--I dont think I can give up my carbs!). I've recently started eating sunbutter (peanut butter substitute made out of sunflower seeds which is really delicious!), too soon to tell if it will irritate my skin, also I'm trying dark chocolate.
So over the last several weeks my skin seemed to slowly and steadily improve until I had only a few small pimples. Last week I had a medium sized breakout (2 or 3 cysts on my chin and a couple of medium sized on my cheeks, other scattered small ones) which was discouraging, but I know that it is hormonal and it was only really noticeable for about 2-3 days which is not bad for me at all! At the moment my skin looks pretty good, only small stuff except for one under the skin on my upper cheek. Hard to tell about that since sometimes those just go away and sometimes they errupt!
Now I'm just beginning to incorporate supplements. I'd really like to hear feedback about this. So far I'm taking vitex (an herb for women which regulates hormones), 15 mg zinc 2X's per day, a 1000 mg flax seed oil supplement (for omega 3), not exactly sure how much omega 3 that translates to, and a 10,000IU vitamin A 400IU vitamin D. I would be interested in feedback about the vitamin A. I just started taking it two days ago and it seemed to make a difference (but could just be coincidence) In any case I'm planning on switching to a 5,000IU vit A in a week and only using the 10,000IU for the hormonal flare ups.
Next week I also plan to add: a b-complex vitamin, Vitamin C and MSM(natural sulfur)...any experiences with the MSM?...that will be it for supplements I think, it's already a lot!
Finally, my current topical routine is pretty simple: I use cetaphil cleanser day and night with clinique moisture in control moisturizer in the morning and a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide at night (but lately I've been limiting the bp to active areas since bp tends to dry my skin). This is the best topical regimen I've found in terms of standard stuff, but I've decided to go ahead and try natural products with no bp (scary! I never go without it!) to see if my skin could look a little nicer (it tends to get kind of red and flaky with the current products). I'll update on that when I start using the new stuff. Also for makeup (which I use every day, partly because of red scarring) I use the bare escentuals mineral makeup...It's absolutely the BEST i've found in terms of coverage. Ideally I'd like to be able to leave the house without makeup at some point

Ok I think that's it. I would love opinions and advice!

i'll keep this short.
typical story of getting it at 13, accutane at 15, came back.
all of my sister have it from my father's gene.
i have sensitive skin so BP washes and spot treating with SA would give me chemical burns.
I DO NOT USE PRESCRIPTIONS CREAMS OR PRESCRIBED PILLS FROM DERMATOLOGIST.THIS LOG IS ABOUT DIET CHANGE AND HOLISTIC APPROACHES.
Sept 08 compared to Jan 07http://i36.tinypic.com/k70ok.pngCurrently I am washing with
Papaya Likas Whitening Soap for my red marks and alba green tea and aloe lotion + kiss my face peaches and cream alpha hydroxy 8%.
I do my acne light for 15 minutes everyday.
UPDATE:September-October I have been basically clear except rare single pimples by my mouth. Otherwise NO breakouts on my cheeks or chin!
I even stopped taking my vitamins for a week and still clear. Hmmm
NOVEMBER 2007 - NOVEMBER 2008(P.s.- 2008 photos I have no active acne. The spots are all hyperpigmentation)

Hi, I'm a long time lurker, first time contributer. I feel like as far as a holistic approach goes, I've read everything there is to read. I'm posting this because I have a very strong feeling that this will work to permanently heal acne in EVERYONE, and hopefully a couple scars. I'd like to go longer than 3 weeks, but I am 5'11" and 166lbs, so 3 weeks may be pushing it we'll just have to see.
I think most of you will just want to know that this does work, but if you want to know WHY it will work to heal acne and scarring, I wouldn't mind discussing this.
If you aren't educated on fasting, please don't tell me how dangerous and harmful it is.
Today is day one.
BTW, I'm easing into this by drinking some juices that I had around. It wasn't part of the plan, but I feel sort of ill from drinking last night, which once again made my skin look better. I think this maybe is because the body is flooded with a new type of toxin; one that can be eliminated more easily thru urine, so it sort of gives skin a rest while it takes care of the priority.
Also, yesterday was thanksgiving. I know that you are supposed to prepare for a fast by eating soley fruit and vegetables for a few days prior, but I just feel that it is time, and will suffer the consequences of an more extreme shift to detox.
I forgot to mention: I'm 19 and have been dealing with acne for 4 years or so. I've done one round of antibiotics, but stopped dealing with "medical authorites" when I heard about the effectiveness of alternative techniques. I had pretty bad acne(cystic), and a few scars(rolling, boxcar, icepick). My acne got sooooooooo much better when I stopped eating sugar, grains, and milk, whic and started drinking more water, and taking chlorophyll garlic and acidophyllis and eating more fruits/veggies which is recomended for a anti-inflamatory diet, an alkaline diet, a paleolithic diet, etc. Currently I have maybe 4 pustuoles and some scarring, which is somewhat improved from doing TCA peel.
Actually, my acne was pretty much nonexistant whenever I would eat only vegetables, but who can live like taht? thats why I want to try and heal myself so that I can process things like grains and dairy.

To cut a long story short I've not been on this site for a while because I've been, by and large pretty clear. Recently though, I've developed a few cysts, especially on my cheek, which has not happend for a long, long time.
This apocolyptic event has forced me to re-evaluate my regimen and my general lifestyle and diet.
I'd previously had moderate to severe cystic acne about four years ago, however I managed to clear myself by using BP and completely cutting out of my diet the usual suspects like dairy, carbs, caffenine, sugar and alcohol.
Since then my diet has gone completely downhill and my drink consumption is now dangerously learing towards that of a low level alcoholic.
However, despite this diet of nonsense I've managed to stay relatively clear, up until now...
So from last Saturday my new regimen is as such:
I'm completely cutting out: dairy, alcohol, caffeine, refined carbs, red meats and sugar in general.
I'm going to try and eat mostly fruit and veg, brown bread and rice, fish and soups etc. Basically food that is natural and un-refined.
Supplements wise, I'm taking two large Solgar multivitamins a day. I'm also adding Solgar Vitamin C powder to water. I'll be taking roughly 1000% of my recomended vit C intake a day to help with my pretty bad scarring. I'll also be taking a few table spoons of coconut oil a day to help cleanse my liver.
I'll mostly be drinking grape juice and sparkling water mixed with lemons, vitamin c and apple cider vinegar. This should help break up some of that shit in my liver, plus I heard some good stuff about both lemon juice and acv. I'll try and consume roughly two litres of this concoction a day.
As for my skin, I'll be moisturising through the day and at night I'll be applying coconut oil and occasionly using epsom salts to dry spots out. I'm unsure as to whether or not keep using my BP, any thoughts?
I'll also be throwing in some lactic acid peels to help with my scarring, but I sometimes suspect that they might be playing a part in some of my breakouts... who knows?
I'll be experimenting with enemas as well... right now I've just started using them, to some...interesting results. I'm going to be doing a coffee enema every night for the next two weeks (I've done two already) I might mix it up with a garlic enema or an ACV enema depending on how I feel. I'm hoping the enemas can help with my scars healing as well as my current acne situation.
Currently I've got two cysts on my left cheek and one whitehead on my lower right jawline. I know its hardly severe but I'm really interested to see if this regimen can help with my current prediciment.
Does anyone have any thoughts on my regimen? I'm going to try and be careful not to overload my skin with too much different stuff nor overload my liver with too many enemas or supplements, any room for improvements?
Anyway, I've attached two older pics from last summer when I was out in Spain, hence my sweaty self. This gives an indication of my scarring. I'll try and upload some more recent pics soon.

Hello all,
I'm new to these forums but not to acne. I'm suffering from cystic acne which travels around my forehead leaving dark red marks in its wake. I've tried every man made topical acne remedy there is to no avail.
Now it's time for a natural alternative. Saturday I went out and bought some eye goggles (not covering nose and forehead) and a snorkel. Why? I'll tell you. I am going to try a sea salt soak regimen. I will be filling a large roasting pan with boiling spring water, adding a liberal amount of sea salt then adding more room temperature spring water to quickly bring it to a tolerable temperature. Then I'll be off snorkeling in the exotic salty seas of my roasting pan off the coast of my living room floor. The goggles will keep salt water out of my eyes and the snorkel will allow me to remain submerged indefinitely.
Saturday, Oct 18 was day one.
I don't measure the salt, just add it until the water tastes like the ocean or thereabouts.
I will soak once per day for 30 minutes to begin with.
After the facial soak, I will pat dry with a clean face towel and then rinse off any residual salt with cool/cold water to prevent overdrying and irritation. (learned from last vacation)
If I wash my face at all, it will be during my morning shower using a gentle aveeno cleanser.
My diet consists of generally healthy foods. I have completely eliminated all processed foods from my diet. I eat nothing out of a box, can, bag or any other package, even tinned veggies/fruit. Anything with an ingredients list is not on my shopping list. I do not own a microwave. I have completely eliminated intake of any refined sugar and will not touch anything with artificial sweetener in it. I have acne despite eating extremely well, hence the soaking regimen.
I will be exercising regularly five or six days per week. If I sweat I will rinse rinse in the shower using water only.
I'll keep you all posted.

I have been on Accutane...twice. The acne comes back.
I have been on Yasmin for over four years. I still have cystic acne.
I have used Differin, Clindamyacin, Benzoyl Peroxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, Microdermabrasion, Chemical peels, Proactiv, AcneFree, Witch Hazel, Minocyclin, Spironolactone,...you could say I have tried EVERYTHING.
Well, I am at end's meet, and am convinced that my acne is caused by internal, not external, factors. After spending a great deal of time researching the holistic approaches that so many of you have taken, I am starting my own little experiment. For the next month, my diet will look like this:
*NO Gluten (I am already gluten-free)
*NO Soy
*NO Corn (this includes high fructose corn syrup, etc.)
*NO Dairy (eggs are okay)
*NO Sugar (this includes honey, cane sugar, sweet-n-low, etc., only stevia allowed)
I will take:
DIM
Taurine
Fish oil
Multi-vitamin
Calcium/Mag/Vitamin D
L-Carnitine
I will drink one gallon of water per day, some servings with Apple Cider Vinegar, so that I consume about 5 teaspoons a day.
I will only eat hormone-free, organic meats; my fruit intake will be limited, and I will consume an ample amount of vegetables.
I will not drink any soda, but I will allow myself one cup of coffee per day.
I will exercise at least four times a week, sleep for at least 9 hours per night, keep my stress levels in check, and try to get some sun every now and then.
Does anyone have any suggestions or things they would add?
Wish me luck...I will keep you all posted.

Why am I doing this, honestly, it's because I'm frustrated. I never had acne until turning 20 and am now almost 23, everday I wake up I want to rip my face off and go back to the days when my face was normal. I've tried all different regimens, things that are too harsh dry my face, take a simplistic approach and I have oil and dead skin everywhere. I've been to 3 derms and they all give different things that never really work. I feel like I have every symptom or diet problem that all these forums proclaim and it just makes me crazy to the point that I have no idea what is really good for my face anymore, so basically I'm quitting, since my face doesn't want to be clean and clear than I won't make it, I'm going to teach it a lesson by not washing it for a month starting actually two days ago the 10th. I know that whatever the outcome will be it will be interesting along the way and I'm trying to look at it as a scientific experiment, maybe leaving it alone will help healing weak acne prone skin? who knows, I don't. As of right now my skin isn't breaking out very badly, I never really have bad acne just bad skin texture and little bumps but if I wash too much than I break out. So my nose is oily and has alot of dead skin and my cheeks are oily and have little bumps I have some dry skin around my mouth too, so we'll see what happens when leaving it all alone for a while.

As recommended by my holistic naturopath, I have been on a gluten-free diet for about a month. (Gluten is a protein that causes inflammation, including inflammed acne and many other problems, in sensitive people.) Apparently, it takes 3-6 months to experience the full effects of a gluten-free diet, but I noticed changes within days. My skin cleared up! However, I experienced some flare-ups during pms/my period, but the Proactiv worked immediately, now that my skin is no longer inflammed because of gluten. My asthma was gone within days also. It's awesome!
I have eliminated wheat, rye, barley, and oats, except gluten-free oatmeal.
What I eat: veggies, fruits (not citrus), nuts, seeds, brown/bismati rice, pasta and bread without gluten, quinoa, lean meat/fish (a bit, may not eventually), almost no dairy, flaxeed meal, tofu/tempeh (new to my diet and in limited quantities), soy cheese and yogurt (limited, the yogurt is too sweet, so I may cut), eggs (cage free, veggie fed, good for Omega 3s), herbal teas, filtered water, almond milk, almond butter
(The naturopath recommended that I avoid soy, but I am considering going vegetarian in the future. I am trying to work in tofu and tempeh gradually and remove meat. I am not sure I can do it. I like meat. We shall see.)
Fun food: I have made gluten-free brownies (with added chocolate chips and walnuts), chocolate chip cookies, and pizza. Brownies and cookies are delish! The pizza is a bit spongey but good.
Supplements: Multivitamin, Vitamin D, Selenium (in Brazil nuts), Vitamin C, Turmeric capsule, Probiotic capsule, Green Foods Powder as drink in water, Immune System-balancing concoction, Fish Oil (liquid), Calcium with Magnesium and Vitamin D
Soy decreases inflammation--naturally. But, be careful, there are issues with estrogen.
Turmeric decreases inflammation--naturally.
Sunflower seeds reduce inflammation AND provide all kinds of nutrients. I want to try sunbutter soon.
Almond butter has far more calcium than peanbut butter, by the way.
If you are interested, go to The Food Philosopher website for info on inflammation and gluten-sensitivity and how to eat, cook, and bake gluten free.
In addition, Trader Joe's, Wegman's, Kings, Whole Foods, and many other stores have plenty of gluten-free products. Restaurants are quite accomodating also. All you have to do is ask and explain.

Hi guys,
well I began searching for a holistic cure for my moderate/severe acne about 1 year ago. I've ended up with a hybrid of natural and conventional medicine and am pretty happy with the results so far. I want to preface this post by saying that I've only been clear for about 2 months while being totally antibiotic free. Before that, I was on antibiotics for about 3 months while trying to sort things out. So in total I've been clear for about 4 months. I think it's fairly safe to say that the antibiotics should be totally out of my system since I wasn't taking them for long, but this is more of a progress report than a success story. I won't claim success until it's been another month or two. The reason for writing this now is that I think i need to take a break from thinking about my skin so much.
Here are the basics of what has led to my success....i don't really want to argue with anyone...I'm not claiming that this will work for anyone else (but hey, it might be worth a try!)
1. Diet: The first thing I chose to eliminate was exactly the right thing: DAIRY. I think that dairy bothers me in two ways: i have a mild allergic reaction to it (it makes me very congested) and it messes with my hormones which i don't think is an allergic reaction. I've noticed a marked decrease in oil production since cutting out dairy. this suggests to me that most acne sufferers could benefit from reducing dairy intake (although maybe some people are fine with dairy in moderation).
otherwise, my diet is generally healthy. I eat lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains and lean meats. I also eat some not so healthy things simply because I enjoy them! I like tea and coffee, red wine, dark chocolate, a cookie or piece of pie from time to time (even those made with dairy, for some reason when the dairy is cooked it doesn't seem to set off my allergic reaction...it might still mess with my hormones which is why i don't have a ton of this stuff). So in other words, I do not follow a strict diet. I eat generally healthy avoid dairy as much as is reasonably possible and that's about it.
I can say for pretty much certain that cutting out dairy both decreased my oil production and got rid of most of my cystic acne. Eliminating dairy alone, however, did not get rid of all of my breakouts. It took me from moderate/severe (or some might say severe) to moderate.
At the moment I am also taking a few supplements: a b-50 complex, lysine with zinc and vit. C, and a 1000 mg flaxseed oil (I also eat some ground flax). I don't really think that these supplements make a huge difference in my skin, but they do make me feel more energetic. I want to really stress that I do not believe in taking a ton of supplements. You should really try to get your nutrients from food. Isolated vitamins/compounds are just not as good and can even be harmful. I have made a few big mistakes by trying exotic supplements that a handful of people said cured them.
For the last week or so I've been drinking lemon water (warm water with 1/4 lemon's juice and a tspn honey) when I wake up in the morning and sometimes at night. I was clear before I began doing this, but it does seem to have helped my body acne and my monthly breakout was barely of concern this month...
2. Lifestyle: I really can't say how much these factors impact my skin, but i'm sure that it's additive (eg don't sleep well one night, no big deal...consistently not getting enough sleep, going to see an effect). I exercise (mostly cardio, maybe 4 or 5 times per week) and I practice yoga 1-2 times per week. I think exercise is very important for me as a way to relieve stress.
I try to sleep well (I'm usually in bed by 11)
3. Topical routine: One of my mistakes after cutting out dairy was thinking that I didn't need topicals. topicals didn't make me clear, no Dairy + topicals made me clear so therefore no dairy made me clear and i don't need topicals....wrong! I was using BP at the beginning (and had been for about 10 years). BP worked, but it made my skin red, flaky and dry. I've since found topicals that I like much better (but may or may not be ideal for everyone...) Here is my current routine:
Morning: wash face with homemade cleanser using facial brush (eg baby hair brush)
apply azelex cream (azelaic acid, by prescription)
use bare mineral powder foundation (spf 15)
*the azelex is a great exfoliator and moisturizer. If you have really oily skin you might want to try the gel form. I like the fact that azelex has no nasty ingredients, just azelaic acid and literally I think 3 or 4 other harmless ingredients.
homemade cleanser recipe:
1/2 c. vegetable glycerin
2 tbpsns. pure castille soap
3 tbpsns. raw organic honey
mix it up, bottle it and keep it...none of these ingredient go bad (at least not for a long time)
Night:
wash face with homemade cleanser using facial brush
apply clenia emollient cream (sulfur based lotion)
*clenia is great for killing acne bacteria. It does have some ingredients I don't like (eg parabens) and i would love to find another lotion with the same active sulfur ingredients but no bad stuff...let me know if you guys have suggestions
I also use masks (these are not essential, i just enjoy them and i think they leave my skin nice and soft):
I like the honey and egg yolk mask (1 egg yolk and 2 tbspns honey). I try to do this a few times a week.
Moisturize as necessary with clinique (because it's what i've got leftover)...I rarely have to moisturize since I've been using the azelex, but now that it's winter I need to once in a while.
I think this about covers it...it's really not a tough routine, but it seems to work! It might be worthwhile to check out the holistic section of this site if you're looking for other ideas...i personally would suggest cutting out one "bad" food at a time to see if it helps or not...if it doesn't make a difference add it back it. I think that you should see a difference in a week or two after eliminating a food. It's also a good idea to keep a log to track your progress. Good luck everyone!
I've attempted to upload pictures, but it keeps failing because the "file is larger than the available space"...hmm well i guess you'll just have to take my word for it...
I might check back sporadically, but part of the point of this post is so that i can stop thinking so much about my skin. So, if i don't answer questions very quickly, then i apologize in advance. I wish you all good luck, and i will try to come back in another month or so to update on my progress.

First let me give you some background information and briefly discuss the regimens I've been on.
My acne started when I was 19 years old when I first went on birth control pills. Eventhough I got off that pill soon after, it started my battle with mild acne. I used Proactiv for a few years until it stopped working. I took another BC pill called TriNessa when I was 25. This pill is the generic version of Ortho Tri Cyclen and is supposed to clear your skin so I thought it would be great for me. TriNessa cleared my mild acne really well. But when I came off of it, my skin exploded and I had the WORST breakout of my life. I started breaking out badly in Nov.06. I was getting three new pimples a day from November to February. Then I went on DKR and it helped a little but dried out my face and left me with a discolored complexion.
So I stopped and went on Clearogen in March. In my opinion, it didnt help my acne at all or maybe very little. I used Clearogen for about a month and a half. Clearogen was very drying to my skin and thats why I believe my skin became oily. It left me with oily skin and A LOT of acne marks. Not to mention it didnt stop me from breaking out.
I read somewhere in these forums that BP makes red marks last longer so I decided to stop using it completely and see what happens. I then came up with a new regimen:
AM:
Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash
MaMa Lotion (10% Mandelic Acid 10% Malic Acid) every other day
Neutrogena Moisture SPF 15
PM:
Purpose Cleansing Wash
Green Cream Level 6
This regimen made my skin peel so badly. It also gave me small chemical burns. I learned that MaMa lotion and Green Cream together is too much on my skin. So decided to give my skin a break from all the chemicals and I came up with a simple, gentle, more natural approach to deal with my acne
Morning:
-Wash with Alpha Hydrox Foaming Face wash and let my face air dry
-Apply a thick layer of Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel all over my face and rub it in in circular motions
-If going out, apply Alpha Hydrox Sheer Silk Moisturizer SPF 15
Night:
Same as morning except no moisturizer. Thats it.
I have been doing this regimen for about one month now and I am AMAZED at how fast my skin is healing, and the red marks seem to be fading quicker.
I have decided to start a log to keep track of which products work and which dont. I will be trying different regimens until I find one that completely stops me from breaking out. I'm battling persistent mild acne.
If you have any questions, please ask

Edited from original post.
Status: Clear after 30 years. 2 years in March!
Story: Severe Acne since I was 10. 10-15 years of Dermatologists, Antibiotics, topicals and ACCUTANE did nothing. Discovered oranges triggered the worst of my cystic acne = about 70% improvement. B-complex with zinc, saw palmetto, C and aspirin mask = more improvement, a lot less oily. Diet changes = Clear.
Regimen: Moderately low carb and anti-inflammatory diet and supplements (to reduce hormone imbalance, candida imbalance, inflammation, aging and general health). Gentle cleanser, ACV diluted w/ green tea toner. Occasional use of BHA. Moisturizer w/ niacinimide helps pigment problems.
Current Supplements (most for anti-aging, hirsutism and general health):
Good multi (NSI Synergy w/ 20mg optizinc, ester C, chromium, selenium, high on B vitamins, CoQ10, R-Lipoic Acid, etc), 2,000 mgs vitamin C (helps adrenals, anti-histamine, anti-oxident, collagen booster) , Green tea (anti-androgen, anti-oxident), Beta-Sitosterol (anti-androgen found in Saw Palmetto and Nettle) Omega-3 Fish oil (anti-inflammatory and hormone balancer?), Probiotics.
Diet:
Snack or eat every 3-4 hours. High on fruit, vegetables, greens, legumes, free range eggs, salmon, nuts.
Limit to varying degrees: sugar and simple carbs, fruit juices, even lemon juice, dairy. Bad fats.
Avoid completely: Oranges (severe cystic acne causing allergy?), sugary drinks.
Favorite recommendations:
Ghiradelli's bittersweet chocolate chips (low on suger, I have them with raw nuts for snack).
Unsweetened hot cocoa. Packed with antioxidents, better than coffee.
Salada flavored green tea w/anti-oxident things like grape skin.

hey guys,
I masturbate about once a day to sex videos and I always feel really great. the problem is I do have moderate acne that I would really like to disappear. so a couple things. if you've done it, you know that masturbating with a sex video feels a lot better than doing it solo. so is that more hormones, hence more acne? I'm going to try really hard to not masturbate and see if I get results. it will be difficult because I always look forward to it but I'll really try for the sake of research and my face. I'll let you know!

I noticed my face has cleared up a lot if I don't drink coke or any dark soda. I can have Sprite or & up, but that's it. This tip my friend told me.

There have been a few other binge eating topics out there and im making another to get it OUT there even more!. I am not ggoing to tell u how/what to do because the other topics let u know this
http://www.acne.org/messageboard/GUYS-BING...CA-t213370.htmlhttp://www.acne.org/messageboard/Binge-eat...l&p=2407882BOTH OF THOSE ARE VERY HELPFUL im only making a enw topic to let everyone know how much binge eating affects your acne!!!! i am only trying to help please try this. It couldnt hurt a bit! its healthy and it works! its unbeleivable on how well it works. I will try to get pictures soon of before and after and i have only been doing this for 2 weeks. 2 weeks and i am about 70% more clear than what i used to be.
The key points in binging: eat whatever you want! but split your meals up. Not necessarily starving yourself but do not eat for ex two large meals one in the morning and one at night!!! that is the worst possible thing you can do. Split ur meals up into about 5 small meals a day, eat slow, and enjoy because i guarantee if u try this and u know u are a binge eater! this will help so much
Please read and JUST GIVE IT A TRY!!

Hello all, today i'm starting a log with Vitamin A and D.
So... let's begin!
Week 1
Day 1:
Vitamin toll:Vitamin A:
Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Supplements arrived around 10am. Today i'm taking all in one go at 1400hrs. I'm currently using a Tea Tree and Peppermint facial wash and no moisturiser, as I have oily skin - I'll keep you posted how this changes.
End of day 1, now I may just be imagining this - but my skin does seem slightly less oily already.
Day 2:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 30,000 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 30,000 IU @ 1630Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 2100Hrs
Total = 120,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,425 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 3,425 IU @ 1630Hrs
- 4,850 IU @ 2100Hrs
Total = 10,700 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Taken half of vitamins at 10am with glass of milk. Skin seems slightly drier, but not sure, it's usually quite dry in mornings anyway.
Took rest of vitamins at 16:30. No more changes so far.
Just [1700Hrs] had a bath, the usual routine, which is: Bit of Sanex Dermo Protector in the bath, wash face gently with the bath water, followed by rest of body. After that wash hair with Head & Shoulders for men. Finally, wash chest, shoulders and face with Superdrug Tea Tree & Peppermint. Leave it on for about 2minutes before washing off with clean warm (not hot, not cold) water from shower head. Oh and then pat (not rub!) dry with towel.
Noticed that my face is still quite dry now [1900Hrs] (2hours later), still feeling that 'tight' feeling, usually it would be more oily and tightness completely gone by now.
Been having a breakout anyway, so i've gone to a higher initial dose - don't really care if I have an initial breakout now; since i'm having one anyway! Had another 60,000 IU A; and 4,850 IU D with some full cream milk and a ham and cheese roll. Putting it to 120,000 IU A and 10,700 IU D for today. Going to continue on this dose tomorrow.
Also get paid tomorrow, so going to buy some Zinc, Magnesium and Calcium tablets + B-complex.
Day 3:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Woke up pretty late today, so took all the vitamins in one go at 1400hrs with glass of milk and a sandwich. Still breaking out, especially on my chest and back, lots of little whiteheads. I guess it's working then - the increased skin renewal bringing everything to the top at the same time >.<. Pity it has to look so bad!
My face isn't too bad - but that hasn't been my focus for a while now. Just a few little whiteheads there today, few more than usual but again I guess that's down to the increased renewal. Skin isn't 'dry' but it's definitely not so oily - it's just a little glossy, rather than visibly greasy.
Had bath at 1800hrs, just using Tea Tree & Peppermint wash on my nose now. Dries me out too much if I use it like I was. Nose was sooo soft after bath today, I had to really resist touching it xD! I'm curious to whether the breakout on my chest and back is P.Folliculitis or not, H&S didn't seem to make any difference to spots there when I used it for a few weeks a while ago. Some nodules on back though so I doubt it's PF, just the initial breakout I guess.
As I said above, just using TT+P on my nose. It's getting hard to balance the moisture of my face now. T-zone is usually a little bit oily now - but no where near what it was. However cheeks are getting pretty dry, a little oily still, but the oily-flakey way! Btw - cheaper than sebutape - push your mobile phone to your cheek and then look at screen for dots!
Day 4:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 IU @ 1300Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 1730Hrs
Total = 180,000 IU
Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Woke up, face isn't very visibly oily, but it never really is in the mornings. Tis my birthday today! So i'm pretty happy - that's got to help

! Took both vitamins at 1300hrs, might take some more later; but i'm planning to stay under 200,000 IU for at least this first week. I'm real tired though, so i'm going back to bed! I'm allowed to be lazy today, lol!
Been real tired most of the day, i'm hoping it's just a small B-vitamin or mineral deficiency, as that'll be cured when I start taking those supplements next week

. Visibly my face has a few more pimples than normal, but they're only tiny ones and there isn't many. Usually i'd have 1-2 active ones on my face, now it's about 3, but as I said they're really tiny. Overall I think my face looks better due to the reduction in oil. Everywhere else is worse though, my neck is broken out pretty bad - and the tea tree doesn't seem to have much effect on tiny pimples - only the bigger ones. But it has to get worse before it gets better, huh!
Taken 60,000 IU retinol at 1730Hrs. Putting it up to 180,000 / 10,700 IU Retinol / Cholecalciferol. No symptoms have arrisen yet, lips are still moist etc.
Here is what has popped up on my chest, lots of tiny red dots! PF or Acne I wonder?
[attachment=13695:pforacne.jpg]
I've had a few of these before, but now since starting the Vitamin A & D lots more have popped up - I wonder if it is due to this, from the increased epidermal turnover. Or, I wonder if it's due to using Tea Tree + Peppermint wash on my chest - an anti-bacterial, thus letting the P.Folliculitis flourish? Of course it's early yet, so will have to see how it turns out!
Alcohol is quite an interesting drug! Got totally smaaaaaashed! Let's see how this goes. Got a date tomorrow for a belated bday drink ^^. I hope i'm pretty clear tomorrow since it's first time i'll be meeting this beautiful girl

. Gnite acne.org community xx.
^^^
Don't remember typing that, lol!
Day 5:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 IU @ 1600Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 2100Hrs
Total = 180,000 IU
Vitamin D: My day/progress/retardation:Well, my skin looked pretty bad when I woke up; a few big whiteheads on my neck - punishment for partying, but it was worth it! After a relaxing bath and a few hours it's looking much better.
Skin was a bit more oily today than past few days - i'm guessing due to drinking so much, and the alcohols competing for the saturated fats! Face is still pretty clear, neck is proving troublesome as always and body continuing to be a nightmare

.
Found cure to skin remaining tight for so long, a tiny bit of moisturiser just on the line where skin changes from ehm... 'face skin' to 'around eyes skin'. If only all my skin was like the 'around eyes skin' so soft and even

. Does it even have pores?
Day 6:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 0800Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 1800Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 2300Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 2,850 IU @ 0800Hrs
- 2,850 IU @ 1000Hrs
- 850 IU @ 1800Hrs
- 850 IU @ 2300Hrs
Total = 10,250 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Having to to exfoliate every day now or I get visible dead flakey skin! No side effects yet.
Day 7:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 120,000 IU @ 1600Hrs
- 120,000 IU @ 2200Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 IU @ 0600Hrs
- 5,700 IU @ 1600Hrs
- 3,700 IU @ 2200Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Nothing special happening yet. Skin perhaps isn't so oily as expected, but it's not exceptionally dry either - and not experiencing any dry lips yet.
Day 8:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 IU @ 0400Hrs
- 60,000 IU @ 0930Hrs
- 120,000 IU @ 2000Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 5,700 @ 0400Hrs
- 850 IU @ 0930Hrs
- 5,700 @ 2000Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
My day/progress/retardation:Skin quite oily today - mind you I missed a bath - only had one yesterday morning, and just now this morning. Face quite itchy too - no signs of any irritation or anything, just itchy! Hard to resist touching it.
Expecting dry skin to come soon, as i'm up to 300,000 IU / day now for past 3 days inc. today. It's kinda hard getting the saturated fats intake without binging on rubbish, so suggestions for meals much appreciated! At the moment i'm going crazy on the full english breakfasts, and pizzas when i'm feeling peckish

. Such a devil! Surprising how little saturated fats is in a three-cheese pizza though, 82% of daily saturates RDA in a whole one. I was expecting over the RDA by a crazy amount! It was very nice though, so i'm not gonna complain. Bacon sarnies are very much on the menu as well - fried in lard haha. Funnily though with all this rubbish (tasty rubbish might I add) i'm not breaking out any more than usual

.
Day 9:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0420Hrs
- 120,000 @ 0930Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1700Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0420Hrs
- 3,700 @ 0930Hrs
- 5,700 @ 1700Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Been strangely hungry a lot more than usual the last two days. Skin so far is 'meh' no dryness yet. Definitely been oilier these past two days, and exfoliating with baking soda is a must (or exfoliating any how, but baking soda seems least irritating way).
Over exfoliated a bit I think this morning, felt a bit sensitive for a while (peppermint amplified the sensation). Went a bit red but a few hours later it was completely fine. I *think* the issue is that i'm using Baking Powder and not Soda (I put it in an unlabeled pot aggeeees ago and just started using it again recently, don't remember which it was), so it has some Tartaric acid in it as well as the Bi-carb. But it seems ok - saves me using ACV to neutralise! Though when i've used all which i've got i'll be using Bi-carb + ACV. Going to try the egg white and lemon mask in evenings too.
Started on the B-Complex and Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc today. I'm not gonna type out all those things included in them! So just click them for a link to the label.
Day 10:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0700Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1630Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1815Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0700Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1630Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1815Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Neck is breaking out *majorly*. Never had an issue with it before, really. Hopefully it'll clear up soon. Seems something i've started doing recently (most likely the vitamins but it could be something else i'm overlooking) is breaking me out in places I don't normally break out, and quite severely. I'll reserve judgement till when the A starts poisoning me! (dryness).
Mentally i'm really happy and full of energy lately, which is nice. I can tell when i'm full of energy even if i'm not mentally feeling it, from how I tap my foot all the time

! My short term memory seems improved too (I have to use it at work, so changes are noticable

). All-in-all since starting this regimen the outcome is positive so far, imo. Even if the breakout on neck is annoying as hell - since can't really treat with anything since the neck skin is so sensitive - it'd just break out more! I guess just waiting it out is best.
Oh and before I forget, I started Dead Sea Salt today. In my bath that is. Not every one of course, but in my morning one today, and I plan to do it say... twice a week. Right now it's only 250G / bath, but i'm probably going to buy some in larger quantities (using Edom 250G packets atm) and put 500g to 1kg in - most likely nearer to the 500g, since our bath is quite small.
Day 11:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0700Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1100Hrs
- 120,000 @ 2000Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0700Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1100Hrs
- 4,700 @ 2000Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Work today - 7:30 -> 5pm - what a drag! Working in a hot shop, getting sweaty/oily and not being able to do anything about it, urgh! I most definitely enjoy my relaxing bath after work, oh yes

. After my bath today skin was flakey, that never usually happens - i'm usually only flaky after a bath in the mornings. Another thing i've noticed - my nose is getting flakey - the entrance to nostrils that is. Lips aren't getting flakey yet and skin is still pretty oily as per norm.
Going out tonight so alcohol gonna be fighting those vitamins for the fat to dissolve in

, so I expect a little set-back from that, but I refuse to let any thing stop me from having a fun saturday night so meh to it! Maybe y'all will get another drunken message haha.
On note of the Dead Sea Salt bathes; i'm really liking them. Placebo or otherwise, but I really do feel quite relaxed and just generally good after lazing about in the bath for 30mins with not a care in the world - whilst genuinely having faith in them - so no one have me think otherwise or they might stop working, lol!
Day 12:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 60,000 @ 0530Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1845Hrs
- 120,000 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 2,850 @ 0530Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1845Hrs
- 4,700 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Lips bit dried out today, not sure if it's alcohol or the vitamin A causing it. Nothing else notable has happened. Bit of a sore throat, don't know if it's due to a cold coming on or the vitamins - it's probably the latter, since high dose vitamin A reportedly makes you pretty much immune to colds for the duration.
Day 13:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 @ 0945Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1700Hrs
- 60,000 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 4,700 @ 0945Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1700Hrs
- 2,850 @ 2130Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Well, I woke up and went to pee. Flourescent pee, wahey! B-Vitamins are fun. Lips today were quite dry and flakey, lots of dead skin i been biting at all day. Cannibalism, rwaaagh! Face was pretty flakey too (but not dry), nothing a bit of bicarb in the morning didn't solve

. Sore throat turned out to be a cold for sure - I got runny nose today. Well, that sucks - Vitamin A is meant to make me immune!! Random-internet-blog-1001312342345 lied to me!!! Oh well... let's just hope it makes the duration really short... or something nice at least. I hate colds.
Oh and I should mention how my pimples are getting on, seeing how this is a blog about that, shouldn't I! Well... neck is clearing up on left side, right side still a little crazy but I think it's withdrawing (DIE DIE DIE! helped?). Face is pretty much nearly clear as normal, few whiteheads and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks plus a few red marks where I erm... 'nailed' tiny whiteheads too vigorously (no, i'll never give that up!). I've stopped biting my nails though. They're getting long (eek!).
Chest is so-so, I don't know if it's getting better or not. The tiny red spots have definitely reduced, but overall I think there's not much improvement, maybe i'll take a photo somewhen and let you all decide.
Back is muchos crazy, as always! Well, to be honest I think it's mostly red marks opposed to lots of actives. I've got a few little scars on my shoulders and back from when I had it at it's worst, I don't think any of what I get now leaves scars, but if they did I wouldn't really notice anyway! My dad still has some scars from when he had backne in his teens-early twenties. And he's 76 (next week)! I'm hoping the combination of the vitamins and the dead sea salt will send the backne fleeing for the hills, we shall see

. I don't care if it doesn't though, it's not like it affects my life much. Chest and neck are highest priority

.
Day 14:
Vitamin toll:
Vitamin A: - 120,000 @ 1100Hrs
- 120,000 @ 1500Hrs
- 60,000 @ 1845Hrs
Total = 300,000 IU
Vitamin D: - 4,700 @ 1100Hrs
- 4,700 @ 1500Hrs
- 2,850 @ 1845Hrs
Total = 12,250 IU
B-Complex:Chelated Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc:My day/progress/retardation:Well, it's now the two week mark! Has flown by. Cold is manifesting itself a little more, nothing serious (it's only a cold!) but still annoying. Drinking lots of orange juice to try and scare it away, hopefully it'll work.
So my skin is kinda well... normal now. My face that is - it's evenly 'oiled' - no oily shiny tzone, yay. Lips getting drier it seems, not as bad (flake wise) as on monday though - but they were exposed to the elements that day with my job.
Nostrils a little flakey today, seems to build-up flakes of dead skin every few days. Note to self: exfoliate nostrils each day! The entrance to them that is, I don't fancy bicarb up my nose.
Inflammation on my neck is dying down, but I put this down to me not poking and prodding it. There's a new spot on left side, but otherwise that side is pretty much clear now. I'm going to keep up this willpower until it is totally gone! Besides, with no work midweek I can stay in and not worry about whiteheads. This convenience helps for my back too!
So... my back then. Well, I haven't looked at it much today really! Yesterday I went crazy and clawed at all the big white heads. Not smart! I could feel afterward as I was having a bath that i'd created a lot of inflammation from doing that... It was a mountain range! Fortunately this morning it felt smooth with just a few bumps. So i'm going to resist doing anything to it. The only real problem area seems to be the backs of the shoulders, the rest is minor in comparison. There is a cyst right smack bang in the middle of my back though, luckily it's dead-on in the middle, if it was to the sides a little i'm sure it'd hurt when I move my shoulder blades. I'm not touching it, it doesn't exist (repeats to self.. "it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist")! Really, I don't notice my back at all apart from when I have a bath, so i'm going to refrain from looking in the mirror when I do - then i'll get a nice surprise (or I better do) when I look in a month or something.
I'm gonna start posting in a new post, since i've run out of smilies for this one!! Say, a week/post, with links to them in this first one.

Hey guys, this is the start of my log. Just a warning, this post is going to be fairly lengthy. I simply want to get everything out on the table before I get started.
Background: (feel free to skip to the next section, The Plan. I kind of just feel like writing.)
As a senior in college, I ha
