Hi All,
I have been using Mary Kay foundation for the past 3 years- best match to my skin tone (and I have a friend in the States who sells it

). But I am now trying rid all my products of those nasty comedogenic ingredients. Does anyone know if the Oil Free Mary Kay stuff is okay? A way to get the ingredients list? (checked the website and couldn't find an e-mail contact).
Do people have other make up suggestions? I have a fair complexion with a little olive tone (Portugese roots)- I use the lightest shade of Mary Kay stuff.
Thanks!

Hi girls, Im not a makeup artist, but I am an expert at doing my own makeup which Ive had much practice with trial and error for 8 years. I know whats good out there! Im on my 5th month of accutane, my skin is clear but Its just as dry as ever and dry skin is hard to cover with makeup. I wash with St.Ives aprocot foaming facewash. Its great cause It smells so good, and leaves my face very soft! I use bath gloves when I was my face, to help scrub off the dead dry peeling skin, which are in the make up section at walmart- if you dont see them, ask, theyre there. Using the gloves is important cause if I dont, my makeup goes on to where I can see peeling skin patches underneath.Be careful to only scrub gently,I even did this when I had acne still, It was the only way for e to be asble to wear makeup. It took me forever to find a moisturizer that 1-didnt break me out 2- was thick enough that it totally took away my dryness so that it was possible to apply makeup. It is called Loreal HydraFresh and It comes in a jar. Ther are two kinds to choose from, dry or oily skin and of course I use the one for dry skin. Its great cause Its so moisturizing that Id think theres something bad to break me out in it, but trust me, theres not
I put it on and rub it in good, and wait a minute, and put a little more on so that after my makeup is on, my skin will be really moisturized underneath. Then, i start with concealer under my eyes, a good kind (because it wont dry out your delicate eye area) is covergirl fresh complectionconcealer. Use a couple shades lighter than your foundation cause it really brings out your eyes after you got all your make up on! Then, the best foundation like everyone else is saying is Revlon Colorstay. I have to blend two of the colors together to get my perfect shade( cause that way people cant see that line on my jaw where my makeup starts cause its such a close match to my skin) This foundation is tricky - I know it was for me till I got the hang of it- then I t was a miracle cause of its awesome staying power and coverage. I start with my forehead( just one section at a time) and blend it down to my timples. I pat it till it dries a little to get it looking natural and then start applying it on the area between my eyes and blending this part into my forehead, but dont put it on your nose yet. Then I put dots on my cheeks, chin, a dot on my nose and a dot on my upper lip, and pat it evenly allover, blending all those sections together- Just keep patting it into your skin, even over your lips cause that will help later when we get to the lips. Now, if you need a little extra coverage on blemishes/ marks, mix a little foundation, with that lighter concealer to put on marks. After, apply LOOSE powder all over your face, and the best kind is Cornsilk, translucent. It has that shimmer in it to keep your skin from looking too matte but not too much shimmer, and it makes your skin look really nice! Now, Apply the rest of your makeup like your blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara and heres a cool trick for your lips. At this point, your lips should has foundation on them if you did what I said
Now, Take a Q-tip, and get it wet on one side, Put a little facewash on it and use your fingers to twist it in the direction where the cotton tightens around the stick part so you have more of a point on it. Now, use this as a you wouls a lip liner, taking off the makeup on your lips and lining them at the same time, just follow your natural lip shape and youll ened up looking like you have flawless lips or take off a little bit past your natural lip line and make your lips loo bigger. Now, apply vaseline like lipgloss, but only enough to thinly cover your lips. Then, use a natural colored lip liner and go over your lip line. You should look like you have great lips right now! And of course, you dont need me to tell you how to put mascara on and eyeliner- blush, Im just trying to tell you all the tricks that not everyonr knows.
I know this is a long post, and it would be so much easier to just learn from watching me, but if you practice, youll get it down , just like me, I promise. And all the products I use took me years of wasting $ on stuff that didnt work so if you have dry skin like me these are the best products for the $ .If anyone needs help or has ?s feel free to ask , Id love to help! Good luck! Bow

I've had extremely severe flaking skin forever as a result of using various acne treatments. Any moisturizer my dermatologist gave me did not help. Recently I started using Prescriptives Flight Cream moisturizer and it is the best stuff I have ever used. My flaking has gone away completely and my makeup goes on great. I think it might have even helped my acne a bit. Yes, it is expensive, but it is worth it. You can only buy it from a department store like Filene's or Macy's, etc.

i've been using retin-a for about 2 months now and its made my skin quite dry and flakey. when i put on foundation it is hard to blend coz it all gets dry and i get white patches. it makes my whole face look worse than it does without make-up and i have to wear the foundation coz i have these awful patches of red and brown marks on my cheeks and i get paranoid and self-concious if they're not covered up some how. i moisturise using 'clean and clear dual moisturiser with salicyl acid' before putting makeup on and usually end up putting more on after out of frustration due to the dry flakes! i know im not the only one with this problem (i hope!) but i really need some help and i would be sooooo grateful for any help. thanks

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good sun block I can wear on my face. I live in Arizona, so I pretty much should be wearing it every day. I'm looking for something that is not oily and won't make me break out. Thanks, I appreciate your feedback. --LAET 8)

What makeup do people recommend for covering up moderate to deep scarring. I heard Dermablend is good.

I don't wear a lot of makeup. I've been using Marcelle's two in one powder and I dab very little dermablend on my cheeks wherever there are scars. My problem is that my skin is extremely oily and it doesn't matter what type of foundation or powder I use it always easily slides off if someone touches my face which is gross. I always have retarded friends and people who like to pinch my cheeks. I'm 19 so this is something that I absolutely hate especially since I know my makeup will come off in their hands somewhat. I can't figure out how to control this. I only wear two in one so why does my makeup still slide off so easily? Help please. Should I start using one of those products by neutrogena that control oil and shine?

For make-up I learned something interesting.
I put on this anti shine stuff by clean and clear. (I don't remember what it is called) under my make-up. which by the way helps. but if any of you put on something under your make-up then here is how you do it.
You put on the thing you put on under your make-up upward. then your foundation downward. it helps not to clog your pores. I does help a bit. not much but it really does help. I don't break out as much as I normally would. It doesn't matter which way you put it on as long as it is oppisite of the direction you put the first product on.
Just some advice I thought that I would share with ya'll 8)

Ladies,
Has anyone tried Jane Iredale mineral make up? I ordered some last week but still have not had a chance to try it. I read on the website it was used by plastic surgeons to put on their patients that had bruising from surgery or redness from laser peels. It also said it would cover acne and acne scars and look very natural.
Has anyone used this?
I am on B5 therapy now so my face is relatively clear except for the red marks and scars left by previous cysts. I wear neutrogena healthy skin make up mixed w/ Merle Norman lasting now and get pretty good coverage, however, it's kinda thick. I want natural!
Thanks,
Misty

Hi -- I just joined and was excited to find the Regimen last night. I'm starting today. Okay, I'm 45 (gasp!) and have had acne in varying degrees since age 12.
Could some of you share best name brand foundation (I saw concealer info - L'Oreal Feel Naturale and Physician's Formula-Green concealer) -- but could you recommend a good oil-free foundation?
Also - with "mature" skin, I want to start getting away from foundation altogether (seems to make lines more visible), but until then -- what would you suggest?
Thank you all for this wonderful forum to help. Now I don't feel so alone, y'know? Whew...!

Hey well I'm thinking about starting the regimine, but I was wondering if I can use my base over the bp? Right now I use this neutogena skin clearing oil-free makeup. It contains salic acid so I was just wondering if i can still use it if I decide to start the regimine? Also when using the regimine do I rub in the bp, or do i just smear it all over my face and hope it obsorbs?
Thanx luv jess

I have a problem with oily skin, mostly in the t-zone area. Does anyone have any advice on how to lessen the oiliness in this area? I have to put moisturizer on before applying foundation or the area will look scaly, which is probably due to the topical medication I apply in that area to help rid my face of pimples, so I'm not able to go without moisturizer, which may be part of the reason my face looks so oily when wearing foundation. I'm not sure how to deal with this problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use a foundation because of my light scarring, and i have found thru trial and error that the only thing that works for me is maybelline ever fresh makeup. no break outs, or anything and i do have very sensitive skin..The important thing to look for is Non Comedogenic, this is very important, if it doesnt say it i wouldn't waste your money on it...
Let's face it your face is the first thing others see, it's very important to use something that will not block pores and make acne worse.. yet still cover up those ugly blemishes or scarring...

ok this sounds really bizarre but im wondering if it works. Seeing as how i dont have any red eye drops on hand, I thought i'd spread the word and get someone else to do the whole guinea pig thing. I read that if you have a mildly red pimple, dab on eye drops for clearing red eyes. In theory, I can see how it works. But in practice? let me know how you get on.... note: this wasnt for scarring

I am so glad that the lady that does my microdermabrasion told me to try Clinique. I had the lady at the counter in the department store match my color and I couldn't believe how much it helped. It is going to make x-mas pictures a little easier to take.

Hi,
I was wandering if anyone had used Dermablend make-up before, www.dermablend.com. Ive been seeing it on telly an awful lot lately and its supposed to be a full-coverage make-up for birth-marks, acne, rossaca and scarring. It says it won't clog pores or make acne worse (then again ive heard that before) but Ive got a sneaking suspicion it'll look a bit heavy and cloggy on your skin??
Anyone used it??

Hey people!!! If you need a make-up to cover up red marks, scars, blotchs, dark circles, etc.. I've got just the thing. It's called Clinque City Stick SPF 15. It's got medium to heavy coverage depending on how you apply it and how much you put on the spot. If you keep applying it has good coverage. I have SUPER FAIR SKIN so I took the lightest shade they had, Ivory Twist, and that was good. It's cream-to-powder, and it blends nicely. It comes in a chic silver twist-up retractable stick, great to throw in your bag. You can use this as a full-face foundation or as a concealer. Ask the person at the counter for help to get the most true shade. It's about $21 in the US. You can get it at most department stores. Go to www.clinque.com for more info.
How to Apply
1) If you've but acne gel or another cream on your face the night before, wash it off or if you've got oily skin. Apply moisturizer.
2) Take your finger and swirl it over the make-up and apply where needed in a patting/rubbing motion.
3) It says you don't need powder, but after a long day at school, I perfer to put a light dusting of loose powder over it.
Tip: Make sure you BLEND to avoid streaks.
Hope this helps!!!

I have a question for you guys and hopefully somebody will respond. Ok...you know how sometimes pimples tend to get gross white puss in them?

:x Well, while they are sooo tempting to pop, I've been trying to hold off on that, but now i need to know what's the best way to cover that up so that you dont see the yucky white stuff? Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks a lot.

When I have red marks from old acne and still do I just dab a tiny bit of oil free makeup on it... the let it dry slightly and use a cotton swab to blend it with a real light touch. I notice that it hides it well...
NOTE:
This is only good for acne that has came and went and applying too much makeup on a inflammed pimple may irritate it and make it worse.

has anyone had this done??
