This is my problem: TONS of blackheads/holes/deep pores nose and cheek area, and white bumps under my skin various places throughout my face.
So, is it better to start off with Paulas choice BHA products? I would probably go with a 2% but liquid, gel or lotion? Do you have to get all 5 of her products for it to be affective and if not, what products should you use while using the BHA?
For Green Cream Im a little confused. Is Green Cream BETTER for clearing the pores and smoothing out the skin than a BHA? Or do you need to use it with a BHA then apply GC? How often do you apply GC? Do you need to use a sunscreen with GC?
For either of these products, can I just use a facewash and then the product or do I need to use a toner and a lotion, etc.? I would like to use less.
Guys I just need something to get rid of these blackheads, pores, white bumps and get some good looking skin if its possible. I dont know if its asking too much, so if anyone has advice Id greatly appreciate it.
(PS. Im tired of using BP, does NOT work for (my) blackheads)

I have used benzoyl peroxide on my face for about 7 years now. My acne is only non inflamed on my forehead and the occasional red zit on my lower face if i skip washing a couple of days. I feel like the benzoyl peroxide contributes to my very red face. should i stop using it and if so do you think my acne will come back or what should i replace it with? Thanks:)
P.S. I use paula's choice bha at night most of the times now and benzoyl peroxide in the morning. The paula's choice also gives me redness.

I used Benzoyl Peroxide about a month and 4 days ago, now I've stopped it for a month. It was causing irritations and side effects that I did not want (I also researched and found out that BP was possibly dangerous towards skin, so I didn't want any interactions with it). My skin returned to normal about a week after, but now I noticed that it left some brown spots and a new mole that formed between my eyes (pretty much eyebrows but a bit higher). Weird thing is that I never applied BP where my new mole was (well, I had some pimples close to the place now that has a mole, so I applied some BP on the spots but other than that I don't think I directly applied BP onto it), can it just be a coincidence? Or was it definitely the BP? Thanks for your answers.

Blackheads, a mild acne form could mark the beginning of a pimple or a zit. But you can get rid of these blackheads easily with the help of blackhead removal strips. Here is all that you wanted to know about these strips.
The good
The best part about blackhead removal strips is that they offer an easy way to get rid of blackheads. Just put a strip on your nose and you are done. You do not have to get into the hassle of going to salons and getting extraction done. You can use these strips right at your home.
Nothing works quicker than these strips to eliminate blackheads. You can remove blackheads in a minute's time with the help of these strips. Even if you are using the best acne treatment, it will take some time before you get rid of blackheads completely.
They account for a cost effective way to eliminate blackheads. These are numerous brands that offer these strips at absolutely cost effective prices.
The bad
One of the biggest drawbacks of blackhead removal strips is that they are only meant for the nose. Though nose is more prone to blackheads that other areas of the face; blackheads can occur on other parts of the face too. So if you have blackheads on areas other than the face, these strips are just not meant for you.
Further on, they only eliminate existing blackheads. They are not a proper cure to blackheads. In fact, these blackheads removal strips only remove blackheads for them to return again. So if you want to get rid of blackheads permanently, you should consider a more effective solution to acne.
Using blackhead removal strips could make your skin pores even large. This not just means frequent appearance of blackheads but also makes you more susceptible to acne breakouts. Also these strips could cause extreme redness or itching in some cases due to the pulling of strips.
How to use?
You shall never have any problem when using these strips as they are very easy to use. To begin with, you must wash your face before you apply these nose strips? Gently scrub your face to remove the diet that may be sticking to your skin. Pat your skin dry. And wet your nose only.
Now simply take out a strip from the pack. Dampen this strip using water. Place it over your nose. And press it firmly so that it sticks to your blackheads. Once it hardens, pull the blackhead removal strip with force. Make sure that you pull of the strip in one go else you will not be able to remove blackheads effectively.
Just pull off the strip and your blackheads are gone presto. After you have pulled off the strip, clean your face again with cold water. You could even ice down your nose. This helps close all the skin pores that may have opened due to using the strip.
Make sure that you are not over using these strips as it could cause enlargement of skin pores and even irritate your skin.

Ok i sometimes have these weird pimples on my nose. I have them only on my nose. It looks like they form on a irritated blackhead. They are really red, a little bit painfull/irritated and they are quite big. It gets MULTIPLE whiteheads on it. But the whiteheads dont stick out. They are underneath the surface of the pimple. They stay for really long. If i pop a whitehead or more cuz they are really ripe and i only have to accidently touch it. Then it cant bleed. But ive now found that waiting untill they are really ripe and pushing it really hard, untill something what looks like a blackhead comes out. (Also a lot of blood comes out after that) but it heals.
Downside : i get blue spots that stay really long and sometimes some scars but thats the only way to only have them for a week or something , my first few of these i had for like a few months.
What kind of pimple is this? Cuz its really weird.

I'll keep this short because I could probably spend an hour on this beautiful morning talking about this in depth.
Basically, I had extremely bad problems with blackheads on my nose. It was getting so bad that my anxiety was affecting my social life, relationships, work, everything. On a scale of 1-10 my condition was about a 8. I have not seem many people in person who suffered with this problem as bad as I did.
I tried all the things suggested on this site. BHA, AHA, Mandelic, etc etc etc. I spent some serious cash and time trying to make this stuff work. Whenever I tried a new acid it seemed to give some good results initially, but eventually they made the problems worse after a few months. Finally after trying each one for 3-4 months separately with no improvements, I just quit.
It became apparent that I was in need of some kind of serious treatment. I was thinking about Accutane and just trying to find a doctor that would prescribe it to me. The one that I asked said he never prescribes it my conditions like mine. Fortunately, he said no ... I decided to look through my history to see where it all started.
Looked back to my teenage years, I did struggle with inflammatory a bit and bought into the retarded sales pitch that you need to keep your completely free of oil to get rid of acne. This was at the 14-15 year old period ('94-'95). I washed twice per day with Neutrogena Deep Facial Wash and didn't really stop that regimen for five years until I was 19 and realized that I had been doing it for all those years and didn't see a bit of improvement. After I stopped my condition improved a bit but didn't go away.
Finally once I hit 25 or so my acne went away almost completely, but I was still left with horrible blackheads. I realized that the first time I saw blackheads start to form on my face was about a year after I started using Neutrogena Deep Facial Wash. The thought occurred to me that my symptoms were probably due to my face being over dried for so many years. From that point on I started using Paula's Choice lotions, but nothing really made my skin feel
really hydrated. The blackheads did not improve over a few months, so I quit. I finally decided to get really serious about hydrating my skin.
About five or six months ago I decided to order some Jojoba oil. Around the same time I also decided to try the baby brush exfoliation method. After about four months there was a MAJOR improvement. My problem went from about an 8 out of 10 to about 2-3 out of 10. My condition is still improving to this day. I would classify myself as looking completely normal in this area now. I expect to be perfect in this area within the next 4-5 months at the rate I'm going.
Here's my regimen:
Exfoliate face with baby brush in the shower for about one full minute (or a little more) every day.
(only this one will do. I've tried several and this one is the best...
http://www.amazon.com/Gentle-Care-Brush-an...d_i=B000O05AHO)I just use circular motions without pressing hard, but I'm not really gentle either. You'll get a feel for it if you try it. I use it on my forehead, cheeks, nose, chin/jaw, neck... Sometimes I'll do it for 3 minutes. You'll get an idea of how much your skin requires and how much it can tolerate. Note: when I shower I try to avoid getting any soap my face. I don't wash my face with any cleansers anymore. You have the option of doing this at morning or night. Honestly I switch up.
Apply Jojoba oil to your face generously and rub it in good. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. If you have something to do right after simply blot your face dry. I just use my bath towel. If you still have shine on your face after that you do that, use a barely damp cloth. That will remove the oil on the surface but not the oil that penetrated your pores. It's important to know that exfoliating and/or washing your face removes all kinds of oil and not replacing it can be a recipe for disaster. I don't use any lotions, period. After you try Jojoba oil for about five months and you try to use lotion again, you realize how much shit is in there that probably doesn't belong in your skin. Even stuff like Paula's just doesn't feel natural in the skin. It strikes me as a gimmick... Skin is designed to have OIL in it, not 50 other kinds of junk.
Technically, Jojoba is not even oil, it only feels like oil. Your oil glads will think it's oil though and probably slow the hell down like mind did.. Best of all Jojoba WILL NOT clog your pores (i'm sure there are many of you who read this who won't be brave enough to try it)..
Well, that's pretty much it. I haven't been on here in months and that explains why. I no longer have anxiety about my skin. I thought it would be nice to share those things with you before I leave for good.
Good luck with getting your skin cleared up!
Sincerely,
Jake

Okay, so now with this long battle fighting acne, I'm about 85% clear. I use nothing on my face except the Purpose gentle face cleanser. I've been using this for a good 4 months now and it keeps my skin pretty smooth and clear. The only problem is that I'm still left with very blotchy areas, damaged areas, redmarks and tons of blackheads and clogged pores on my cheeks and nose. I don't have any inflammed acne on my cheeks for the most part...maybe one whitehead a week. But the inner part of my cheek, from my nose to my beardline is all messy and that's the main part of your face that shows. -_-
In the mirror close up my skin doesn't look that bad, but if I back up, it still doesn't look terrible, but it looks all red and inflammed. Only thing is...it's not really inflammed acne, just alot of clogged pores and blackheads. I can literally stand in front of my mirror and extract blackheads from my cheeks and nose all day. My skin looks very blotchy is different lighting and terrible in the sunlight. So basically my question is the topic title...can clogged areas look inflamed and blotchy?
Also, I ordered the 2% BHA Gel from Paula's Choice and hopefully recieving this week. Is the BHA made to get rid of redness and redmarks as well as blackheads? I know it will even my skintone out, so I'm pumped about that. I haven't been using ANY kind of meds like BP on my face for a good 8 months or so, so do you guys think my skin should react to the pretty well BHA? It usually reacts to products pretty well, I'm guessing cause I take pretty good care of my skin these days with the way I wash and all the vitamins and supplements I take everyday. I have confidence that the BHA will do what I want, but some input would be awesome.
Sorry for such a long post but I haven't been here in months and I had a bunch of things to say and ask as you can see. If anyone wants to know my regimen that helped clear me up, let me know.
Thank you!

Though I've been using 10% BP for quite a while, my skin has gotten increasingly dry over the past week. It's to the point where I can feel my skin stretch when I smile or during other expressions.
My regular moisturizer isn't enough anymore I suppose. I also plan on reducing my use to every other day and switching to a lower percentage.
Can anyone recommend a HEAVY moisturizer, available at the drugstore, that's also non-comedogenic? Perhaps I'm asking for too much lol, but if anyone has a moisturizer that does a great job of healing super tight and dry skin, please share.
I should note that I use jojoba oil and it hasn't been helping, either.
Looking forward to hearing some suggestions!

I tried the OCM a while ago and it worked for me for a little while. I was using Jojoba, Castor & Tea Tree. I had also tried some oil cleansers from some high end brands, also really liked them for a little while. But, as seems to happen with me, things only work for a little while and then the breakouts are back.
I have had very good overall success getting some electrolysis (to eliminate tiny ingrown hairs that you can't even see, but are a big part of my skin issue), and having facials and PCA brand sensi-peels from an awesome esthetician. I am using great products (mostly PCA) and having monthly treatments which is making a big difference. But, I just discovered something that has really made my skin great! I have only been using it for about 5 days, but WOW! I hope it lasts.
I have gone to organic virgin coconut oil as my moisturizer, and sometimes for OCM. I use lavender essential oil for inflamed spots and my skin is glowing!
I still love my PCA serum and treatment lotion for PIH discoloration, but this coconut oil and lavender are more effective than anything else I have ever tried. They work, and SO FAST! I know the same things don't work for everyone, but I recommend you look into coconut oil and all the great health benefits, it is reviewed on acne.org too. It is good for eating too.

I have been using head and shoulders shampoo for my acne for about a month. It helps but I still get liitle bumps and the wedding is just 2 days away. I also use the cetaphal facial cleanser in the shower. Then at night i use the shampoo again. I also use the cetiphal spf facial Moisturizer . Do you recommended using the clean and clear foaming facial cleanser. I'm going out to buy the razor for shaving just need to know what to put on for shaving and what to put on my face after I shave. What Moisturizer to you recommend that wont make my skin oily. I have oily and sensitive skin but that could be from shaving because I always shaved before I shower. thanks for the help

Ok so I had reasonably bad acne about a year ago and since then have been taking doxycycline anti-biotics to remove my acne and using differin gel on my face to help remove acne. For the past couple of months I have been getting blackheads incredibly deep in my skin in all parts of my face. Some of which arent even visible. They leave holes in my skin that look like small icepick scars but once removed, the holes scab over and heal up. The problem is they are extremely hard to remove and leave scabs all over my face. To remove them I have to use a sterilized needle/pin and insert it into the hole and dig around a little to loosen the blackhead. I then have to have a shower to make the blackhead come to the surface before I can hopefully remove it from my skin. Often the blackhead is quite large. Is there any treatments out there and has anyone else experienced this?
These blackheads are to deep to use any sort of strips.

I have gotten some bumps during my sleep that are quite large, but mostly unnoticeable and disappears within a few hours.
Is this acne? It's definitely not a pustule, or papule, or a whitehead/blackhead. It might be severe, except that it lasts like forty-five minutes and then just disappears from the face of ... my face.
Note: they seem to appear during or before I sleep, near my eyes, and when my acne is somewhat worse.

Okay here's something interesting I did today...before I begin let me just quickly give my regimen...I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Face Wash (with Microclear now) as my face wash, Clean n Clear Oil Free Moisturizer (with sal. acid), and at night BP 4%. Alongwith that not very frequently but from time to time I use Panoxyl 5 bar after fashing with my face wash and then heavily moisturizing. Okay so with this regimen I rarely break out...only once in a while if I'd mess up my sleep...or I had a plug that got irritated and inflames but other than that I stay clear.
Now before all of this...I used to put those blackhead strips on my nose which wouldn't get much blackheads out but i'd see white plugs on the strips afterwards which I thought was satisfactory since I'd not have that many blackheads anyway. But since earlier this year or perhaps even before that i'd stopped using these strips because they're very harsh...and I wouldn't use them because they might irritate my nose and eventually cause acne due to disturbance of the skin.
It was going all fine until about a couply o' weeks ago that I started noticing huge pores on my nose and I new they were filled with oily plugs(almost year old) and what not and since I use BP and there's no chance of any p.acnes bacteria forming from it since it can't survive in oxygen rich pores. So I was hesitant on using those strips even though part of me was saying to go thru it and whatever happens i'll see about it.
I'd also recently started using this Garnier Pure Sal. Acid gel on those huge pores to clear them out and I think it did its job...while taking shower today not ten minutes into it...I noticed that the pores were different sorta like I could tell 'its time'...I insert a finger in my nose like picking my nose (not the pimple popping method, I religiously avoid that)...and pressed it out from inside and these oily semi-solid plugs starting ejecting out of the pores...although it wasn't working that great...so I was scratching my head thinkin how the hell do I get these out cause they were lose and I didn't wanna leave them inside to clear away by themselve. And so I was thinking how how how...then I thought hey I have this fresh syringe(3mL one), if anything else could be more sterilized...so I took it removed the needle and placed the tip on these pores and started suctioning them out and it worked so damn well. I literally saw huge holes from where I sucked the plugs out with the syring. Afterwards I washed my face applied BP and went to sleep.
Its one great method to get those plugs out but here's where one should be careful not so use at...which is the part of the nose where the nose bone ends cause that's one weak area and it bruises easily...I have white plugs there which didn't get sucked out but I'm left with a minor scar which I think is no big deal will go away in at most a week.
Anyways...so this was what happend today...I thought I should share it with you guys here.

Hey all,
I recently received an email from my make-up consultant. She is promoting a new product called NuSkin Galvanic Spa System. She's a very picky lady and does not like attaching her name onto just any product, and refuses to guarantee just anything without testing it for herself. So knowing this, i started to do some research. This hand-held spa seemed to good to be true, but after reading testimonial after testimonial, I started to raise an eyebrow. Because I suffer from closed comedones and black heads, I was instantly interested in how it would help.
Galvanic facials are given in millions of clinics around the world. Its benefits have been reported by many men and women who receive these treatments, but spend a ton of money at clinics for repeat treatments. In this NuSkin Galvanic gadget, a steady, direct galvanic current is utilized, to introduce water-soluble substances through the skin. It heightens the skin's capacity to absorb and improves the penetration of the products. The treatment of specific problems becomes easier. This benefits dry, dehydrated skins, improving moisture retention. It also helps remove congestion.
Remove congestion.. hmm.... I thought about the products that need to penetrate deep into the pores to prevent blackheads and closed comedones from forming, and i thought that this might speed up the process as it heightens the skin’s capacity to absorb and improve penetration of the products im already using.
As I kept doing more research, I've realized that this machine does cost a bundle of cash, but women are spending it because of the amazing results achieved (for anti- aging and for clean pores). I stopped searching because I couldnt afford to cough up 300-500 dollars for this unit, until I found a retailer on ebay, and a reputable one.
Before I ramble on more, please take a read about what this machine can do:
http://www.nuskin.com/intercom/editorial.d...=nz.ns.homepagehttp://www.nuskin.com/corp/product/customi...ystemnews.shtmlAs you and I know, introducing another product or tool can be scary, especially when we dont know how we will react. In the FAQ it states that it will not worsen acne, but I would suggest to be careful with what you use in conjunction for further penetration. IE: Not using a harsh retinol like Taz, etc at the same time, but a milder one like GC level 3 or 6. I also found that NuSkin has acne products:
http://skincare180.net/products.aspxI just purchased one for 160 dollars off of ebay from a reputable seller and saved myself a bundle of cash. So yes im a bit excited

For those of you who use ebay, IM happy to share with you the seller I located. (and no im in no way related to this person, im just stoked to find it for so cheap!!).

Long story short, blackheads ALL OVER my nose and upper cheek, many different sizes. Plus white bumps near chin area and various other places on my face! SUPER OILY skin (HAVE TO PAT MY FACE LIKE EVERY 20 MIN =(, and dry skin when I wash) Tried many cleansers/products, including BP, excluding BHA & mandelic.
So my question is...is it possible to get clear skin? I go through these forums day in and day out, just reading the progress and new regimens people are trying. Day in and day out we all have the same problem where we cant get rid of it, but we might find something that does but if we stop it comes back. Then there are those (probably most of us, including me) that use at least 3+ products on our faces hoping for some relief, but never get any.
I also bring this up because I started college just recently, and since its a communal bathroom, obviously Im going to run into the products my friends bathe with. Friends here got clear skin, just use soap and shampoo and their done, but Im still in the shower washing my face with a cleanser, then an acne scrub. Then I get out, use a toner and then this Neutrogena moisturizer which makes me end up being in there significantly longer, and in the end not processing any results...but i still do it because if i dont I know my face will look worse. Have to carry tissues around because my face is freekin shining 24/7, literally.
So is there anything I can do? Is there any help you guys can recommend? I just read up on that baby brush/ jojoba oil method which looked nice because its not time consuming and only using 1 product on your face. I was thinking of ordering Pauls Choice blackhead regimen kit, those 5 products for the regimen, but I dont want to repeat the process of being in the bathroom for long and nothing happening. I just need some help guys. Question is, is it possible? Im starting to think not

Hey guys
I've spent sometime browsing around the forums and searching up for different products before yesterday I finally ordered Paula's Choice 1% BHA! I was going to get Mandelic acid or Green Cream but I read how Mandelic had some bad side effects & Green Cream didn't really help with blackheads.
So my type of skin is kind of blotchy & full of blemishes, i rarely get inflamed pimples mainly just have blackheads on my nose and big pores. I was wondering how well Paulas choice would help with my pores, on the side of my cheeks and near my jaw area my skin is disgusting it has massive pores and like alot of blemishes. I was wondering if I should use anything else or just the Paulas choice?

http://www.otisproductions.com/blog/images...elash-mites.jpghttp://www.andrewlost.com/images/hair_page/eyelash_mite.jpgi just read this on a forum, could these little bastards be the cause of enlarged pores?
[quote]
Demodex folliculorum, or the demodicid, is a tiny mite, less than 0.4 mm long, that lives in your pores and hair follicles, usually on the nose, forehead, cheek, and chin, and often in the roots of your eyelashes.
(A follicle is the pore from which a hair grows). Demodicids have a wormlike appearance, with legs that are mere stumps. People with oily skin, or those who use cosmetics heavily and don't wash thoroughly, have the heaviest infestations ... but most adults carry a few demodicids. Inflammation and infection often result when large numbers of these mites congregate in a single follicle.
The mites live head-down in a follicle, feeding on secretions and dead skin debris. At the left, you can see three demodicids buried in the follicle of a hair, and you can also see the hair's shaft. If too many mites have buried into the same follicle, it may cause the eyelash to fall out easily.
An individual female may lay up to 25 eggs in a single follicle, and as the mites grow, they become tightly packed. When mature, the mites leave the follicle, mate, and find a new follicle in which to lay their eggs. The whole cycle takes between 14 to 18 days.
Sometimes demodex is called the 'face mite', since it is often associated with blackheads, acne and other skin disorders (although it is not the cause of these). Demodex are harmless and don't transmit diseases, but large numbers of demodex mites may cause itching and skin disorders, referred to as Demodicosis.

i had an ace problem for the first 6 months of this year. no idea why or why it has gone away. the other day i noticed what i thought was a black head on my forehead so i tried to squeeze it out, but only blood came out so i stopped. since then it has scarred a little and it also feel like the flesh underneath it has gone away. if i run my finger over it i feel an indentation as if i had pressed my finger into my head for a little while. know what i mean? any idea if its something i should be concerned about?

So... I read somewhere about Biore pore strips, so I tried it on my nose (full of blackheads and enlarged pores). 15 min later, peeled off the strip, and All i see is black junk everywhere on the strip. Rinse my nose, ALL of em were gone. This is amazing, it's like a super magnet for blackheads.
You can buy em anywhere.

I’ve been dealing with blackheads since I was about 15/16 and they have always been a huge confidence killer for me, the few people I have confided in about this issue have always assured me there is nothing to worry about and they cant really be seen but I always see them when passing a mirror and I am always convinced others can see them to, I avoid eye contact with people because of it at times.
I have always wanted to put a picture of my blackheads up online but on mobile camera or webcam pictures they would never be visible, At Christmas though I got a superb new camera which picks them up, I am presuming they are blackheads but I sometimes wonder if they are enlarged pores left over from the blackheads I had... I want to warn people that this may be gross and please bare in mind this is a zoom in….
[attachment=15793:bh2.JPG]
Zoom in or not this is what I see when I look at my face close up in the mirror and I am sick of it, despite a minor acne problem earlier in the year I am fortunate that my face is clear apart from this, my big concern though is that the blackheads seem to be spreading to the sides of my nose and my cheeks, It cant be seen on this picture but I am also developing broken blood vessels on the sides of the nose. I want to eliminate this problem and at the very least I want to prevent it from getting worse. I have tried a variety of products but I am open to any suggestions.
Thanks
