QUOTE Are there any side effects of benzyol peroxide?? I heard it can cause: extra sentiviness to sun faster older getting skin and some other things Is there any fact of sideeffects or have you noticed something? BP CAN be irritating. It can cause extra sensitivity to the sun, so you might want to wear some SPF. "faster older getting skin" (aging). Yea, I've read it can prematurly age your skin, but I wouldn't know for sure...Other things/side affects of BP are irritated skin, redness, flakiness (dry skin), itchy-skin, and other side effects. I searched 'some sites about benzoyl peroxide' and tried to my best to translate it to Dutch...Here are some links: http://www.beautydiscover.nl/beautydiscove...id-en-zon/acne/ I only found one link which I think might work...I don't speak Dutch (I'm 25% Dutch though...). Anyways, hope this helps you out.

Normal is just a setting on my laundry machine, so why do I have to fit in between? I’m not a model of perfection but rather a display of imperfection, I’d rather be an individualist, and believe what I believe, and not have to worry of what the public perceive. So to all those who bring me down today, fuck you, and have a nice day! |

Here's a side effect. BP didn't work so well on my forehead as well as on the other parts of my face, so I started using A LOT of BP on my forehead. I would just use two bumps of BP on my forehead, let it dry for 30 minutes to a hour and then apply another two bumps and sometimes I did more than twice. The result was that my forehead finally started to flake and the I started getting a lot of super tiny bumps around bigger ones.... It was weird. They weren't inflammatory I think, but yeah, more is not always better...

BP is a little too overrated imho And yes. You can't use it in summer, my derm told me that it is photosensitive Just because something doesn't work for you doesn't mean it's "overrated" -it just means it doesn't work for you in particular. Benzoyl Peroxide has been rated by dermatologists and scientsts alike as one of the most effective acne treatments there are. And yes, it makes your skin sensitive to the sun. Does this mean you shouldn't use it in the Summer? No. it just means you need to take caution and reguardless of what season it is - summer, winter...whatever, you need to use sunscreen to protect your skin. The other side effects of BP that I haven't seen mentioned yet: 1. YES, BP can cause your skin to age a little quicker. Why? It creates free radicals in your skin. A free radical is basically an unstable oxygen molecule with an extra electron. These tend to bond with other, more stable, molecules in our skin which cause them to not function as properly. Therefore, your skin cells will not be as likely to turn over as well and will age more quickly. You can reduce this by combating the free radicals with antioxidants or by using a damn good moisturizer or AHA that keeps your skin moisturized and keeps your cells turning over at a better rate. 2. BP can cause those obnoxious red marks or post acne marks to stick around for even longer. It also increases the chances of scarring. Again, the free radicals are to blame for this. It causes our skin not to heal as quickly for the same reasons. Since using BP, this one is apparent. I am not getting scars where I never used to and these red marks last FOREVER. Thank goodness for good concealer. |

No it did work for me for quite some time and I could care less about the scientists and dermatologists, there are molecoles that work just as fine (adapalene-pyruvic acid-fusidic acid ecc.) but are underrated...
