I have been using Retin-A Micro 0.1% for a year now. My gel pump just ran out the other day, and the refill date (I had 3 refills left) ended in September. Since it is the weekend, it will be a few days before I can get some more. Do you think my skin will flare up badly? It's been doing okay so far, but I'm still worried about it. It'll probably be a week without the Retin-A Micro. Does anyone have any similar experiences? Retinoids are kind of iffy and sometimes you don't know what to expect.

Will anyone who owns the Acne.org regimen post the full list of ingredients for each the cleanser, the treatment, and moisturizer? Can someone also tell me all of the ingredients in the 10% Alpha Hyroxy Acid? Thank you.

Hello, I'm 16 years old. I have a sister who is fourteen and a brother who is almost twelve. (We must have hit puberty early).
I have finally cleared up with the help of Retin-A Micro, Duac, and minocycline. I only use Retin-A at night and Burt's Bees cleanser now, since my skin has been doing just fine without Duac and minocin for the past seven months. Anyway, my fourteen-year-old sister has never stuck to anything. She'll only wash her face once or twice a week, and she has to be told to. She says she cares about her acne, but she won't use anything for it. I know I may sound pushy, but I'm worried. Acne really messed with my self-esteem and I have tried so many things and I'm glad it's cleared up now. I want to help her. My sister did at one time use a face wash morning and night and used Benzaclin once a day for two weeks and her face automatically cleared (no initial breakout or anything). She only had zits on her chin area, and if she would have given it another week, her face would have been smooth as butter. Every now and then, she'll wash twice a day like she should and her face will clear up, then she'll stop. And she has to be told to even wash twice a day. Now, my soon-to-be-twelve-year-old is starting to break out. I asked him to use some lotion with 3.7% benzoyl peroxide in it to help his skin. He replied, "I don't care. I want my skin to be red and bumpy!" How can I make them care? They seem to be so outgoing, but I don't want them to feel ashamed like I did or ever get to that point. Now, that I'm clear, I want to help people as much as possible. Can someone please give me some advice?

Hello. I had a horrible breakout back in July, and now I have acne scars all over my forehead and on a couple of other spots on my face. This is sort of what my scars look like (though, mine are spaced out more and there's not as many):
Scars This isn't me, but it's a boy whose scars look similar to mine. I don't know what treatment he had, but I'm considering doing a chemical peel (TCA) to help rid of them. I want to try an at-home peel, but I don't know what concentration I should use for a nice improvement. Also, can you continue to was your face with a cleanser while your skin peels (if you're very careful and easy)? I have been considering a TCA peel for three weeks now. My acne is pretty much gone, but scars remain.

Some info on me first:
Sex: Female Age: 15 Grade: Sophomore (High School) Acne type: usually just moderate; had a pretty horrible breakout in July which has left scars on my face Self-esteem level: very low Well, I had my first dermatologist appointment today. The lady that came in before the actual derm said my face wasn’t bad acne wise (I only have a few zits on my temples and a couple on my forehead), but she’s never seen scarring like mine in the seven months she’s been there. She was nice about it, though, if I sound weird. Then, the actual dermatologist came in. He rubbed his fingers over my face, checked my back and chest (which are pretty much clear). He was talking about how he thinks he’s the dermatologist that probably prescribes Accutane to more patients than any other derm. He says he’s used it since 1983 (he looks like he's in his sixties now) and how wonderful it’s worked for many. He also doesn’t want me to use Proactiv and Differin at nighttime anymore. He thinks I’d be a good candidate for Accutane, because of how my horrible breakout led to this horrible scarring. In three months, on December 20th, I go back to him, and he says he may put me on Accutane if I don’t improve or if no major improvement takes place. Today, he wanted to put me on the “big stuff” (not Accutane, yet) and prescribed some meds. (I guess this is good in a way.) Well, I’m scared. He told me to quit Proactiv, which is the whole reason why I broke out terribly in July. He wants me to quit my treatments, and he gave me the following prescriptions: Minocin 100mg, Retin-A 0.1%, and Duac Gel Kit. I didn’t get them filled today, so I’m still going to use my current regimen. However, I’m scared to not only quit Proactiv again, but to start Retin-A. I’ve used it before with great results, but 3 more months of a mess on my face will bring my self-esteem down lower than it already is! I quit Retin-A because I started to burn easier (what a dumbass move). He said the Minocin wouldn’t let me break out bad since it’s an anti-inflammatory. Can someone please give me some feedback? I’m so nervous now! |
