I havent been on antibiotics for acne in a long time but I was thinking back on it as I like to keep track of my treatments. currently my skin is fine because of accutane and the reg but I wanted to get some opinions on this.
back a couple years ago I was on antibiotics. Tetricyline I think, mino maybe I dunno about 3 or for different kinds and different times. they helped maybe sometimes but other times no. in the beggining I wasnt good and making sure to take them everyday as I didnt care that much because my acne wasnt that bad. either way. It seems they only gave me bad side effects (intestinal) and thats it. When I was done with them wow! my skin got worse than it ever was. Do you think antibiotics can leave your skin worse when you get off of them than it was before for a while? that is what happened to me then a few months after I was off of them I got on accutane.. I dont think Ill ever do Antibiotics again. Its all my one derm EVER wanted to give me. Its not good for you I dont think.

I was on Mino for around 8 months and I was the clearest I've ever been. Then a few months after I stopped taking the antibiotic twice a day, my mild acne came back and turned much much worse. My doctor put me on mino again but I'm seeing another doctor soon to see if I can get Accutane, because I don't trust the mino.

I was on doxy for 2.5 years and at first it really helped calm down my sudden explosion of nodular acne. I still had several nodules at any given time during the whole time I was on it, tapering down to about three at a time near the end. When I went off of it a few months ago due to intestinal problems (it gave me a bad candida infection) I noticed an improvement, actually. I'm guessing the candida doxy caused to overgrow in my gut put stress on my liver and the toxins were escaping through my skin. So doxy wasn't helping me at all in the last year or so, only making it worse. I'm fairly clear now, but I'm still considering accutane just because my acne is so damn persistent.
