I am sending some jojoba out to the mods and a few other people to get initial feedback on it. I'll also be doing this in the future. If you would like to volunteer to test future products, I've started a waiting list. Please email brandy@acne.org with your full name, permanent mailing address (no dorms or temporary housing addresses please), email address, and username on Acne.org. I'll need serious people who are willing to possibly fill out surveys and such. If your name comes up, we'll be in touch with further details. I have asked for similar volunteers in the past and have plenty of people currently, but I wanted to be sure to give everyone a chance to at least get on a waiting list. I can't promise what will happen with this in the future and how far down the list I will get, but I wanted to put it out there regardless.

We're sorry but we are no longer able to delete accounts upon request. We have thousands of members and are continually growing, so this is no longer something the Admins. are able to do.
If you feel you no longer want to be a part of our community, we ask that you just stop using your account. If you want some of your posts removed, feel free to search through your posts and replies and edit them as you see fit.
I would also like to encourage everyone to be mindful of the information you put online. It's not always a good idea to post personal information on public internet forums.
Thanks for your cooperation.

If you want or need an acne prescription, see a doctor and get it legally. If you get prescriptions illegally online you could easily hurt yourself or waste your money.
- Independent studies have been performed on the sale of Internet-bought prescriptions. Often the prescription contains no active ingredient, little active ingredient, or in a worst case scenario toxic amounts of active ingredient.
- Drugs bought without a prescription can actually be a completely different compound from what the buyer intends.
Acne.org prohibits the illegal trade of any form of drug or prescription drug. If you see a post from someone selling a prescription, please report it immediately. Thanks.

Due to recent spamming and trolling of The Lounge forum, the moderating team has decided on new requirements for Veteran Members (effective Mar. 30, 2007).
You must satisfy BOTH of these to become a Veteran Member and have access to The Lounge:
- 30 days membership
- 60 posts
Thank you,
Acne.org Moderating Team
Edited to add: You will not become a Veteran Member immediately upon satisfying these criteria, but within 24 hours. This is because the board software does member promotion automatically once a day. Please wait at least 24 hours after satisfying the 60 post + 30 day membership requirements before asking why you aren't a Veteran Member yet.
- cool as kim deal
edited 9-13-08 to add new lounge access requirements. -Brandy

It seems that the most common side effect from DKR is dryness and flaking after BP usage.
And I've seen post after post about issues related to dryness and flaking especially for those who are new to the regimen.
Could I suggest another sub Category for Dry and Flaky Skin just like there are forum categories for Mild Acne (whiteheads), Moderate Acne, and Severe Acne (cysts)?
Not only would this be informative to many it would allow the beginners to find answers to the common and yet hardest side effect of Dan's BP: dryness and flakiness.
It would help those who are starting to really give it there best shot at this regimen while overcoming the hardest stage of the regimen:the beginning.
I'm pretty sure most people agree that "your face gets worse before it gets better" (not everyone but most people experience severe drying and flakes flakes flakes). Well, this would be a small step towards eliminating that notion just a bit =P
Plus it would be more organized and easier for the moderators find those who need help starting and Staying on the regimen.
Thanks for listening!

http://www.bivingsreport.com/2008/product-...hlight-acneorg/Product Website Highlight: Acne.org Posted on October 6th, 2008
By
J.W. Crump in
Advertising,
Usability,
Video,
Web 2.0 Many product-selling websites include a lot of Web 2.0 tricks to convince the Internet surfer that the product is worth checking out. Heck, even Cheerios has a website which includes a flashy splash intro. Most product sites seem to be nothing more than an excuse to have a site, like a self-fulfilling prophecy of owning a company: [i]"Well, if we have a product, we must have a website!"[/i]
Certain consumer products have useful and inventive websites, such as this one I recently found: Acne.org. I found this site through a linked video in YouTube. The site contains many of these videos, which is a brilliant idea for free advertisement ....
The site is massive in content. From just the home page, a viewer can tell the large amount of information conveyed throughout all of the separate pages. The top menu bar alone contains more than twenty different sections from which to choose, all separated under broader categories. Many of these sections include video demonstrations of the tips and tricks that the web master (and product creator) hopes to teach. These video clips are high quality, short, well-scripted, and have reasonable volume. Other sections of the site take advantage of a multitude of Web 2.0 tools. Members of the site can use the forums to voice their complaints and compliments of all of the different acne products and treatments on the market. Going one step further, members can upload pictures and video, showing their progress to healthy skin. The overall feel of the site is very personal. The blog serves mostly to thank people who contributed to the site and to make announcements about upcoming products and updates. The store section is very thorough and does not pressure the user to purchase. In fact, the site details various over-the-counter substitutions for all of the products found on the site. Finally, the About Me page shows everyone why the creator of the site started the product line, and amazingly, the story comes across honest and thought-provoking. It's a refreshing change of pace from most "why we did this" pages filled with boring, cheesy anecdotes. [i]Any negatives? [/i]
I found that I couldn't find articles using the search feature as easily as I would have liked (the site needs something more specific than the custom Google search), and certain forums and user-generated content seemed cluttered. At various times, I felt like my senses were being overloaded with the slew of content on every page. However, these small complaints were nothing to detract from the usefulness found on the site. I would love to see more product sites that utilized Web 2.0 tools to both engage and comfort the reader. I personally felt like I learned a lot from the site and was rarely bored with the presentation. Other product sites could learn a lot from this one.

Why do some threads with several replies show zero views?
Is this to prevent multiple views without replies? Or is it just a glitch?
I was just curious.

Is it possible to add a function in the chat where you can invite multiple people into a private chat? Currently you can have a one on one private conversation with one person, but no more than that. It would be nice for when you want to network with 2-3 people and not disrupt the other rooms.

When entering Chat, there are three separate rooms. There's no way to tell which member is in which room. Skipping through each one means missing messages if someone types. Is there any way to show which rooms members are in (e.g. room name in parenthesis beside username)? This is especially frustrating when there's only one person in Chat.

I've uploaded my photos on my Regimen Log here:
For some reason the pictures won't show up! I uploaded them on Image Shack and used the IMG tags and everything just like you would on any other forum.
AHHH What's going on?!?! Now it's not even showing the link to my regimen thread that I posted in this topic!!!
This is really ticking me off.

Awhile back somewhere on the org I found a questionaire about Smoothbeam Lasers, but of course now I can't find it.
The format was just an informal poll with something like, "How did you like your Smoothbeam Laser Treatment?", and the respondents were able to put a paragraph in about their treatment experiences.
Does anyone know where these kind of polls are listed on the org?
THANX EVERYONE!!!!!!
AND DAN & EVERYONE AT THE ORG IS DA MAN!!!!! The world is a better place with the org.

UPDATE11-17-08
If you go to
http://www.acne.org/rate.phpthere are org user reviews for products we've all tried for acne. Some of these posts have over 100 reviews on them.
Type in whatever kind of product or treatment you want to research and you'll find your treatment.

When you click on the persons name and click on go to profile, you can only see a small avatar like the one of the message boards. I was wondering if somebody could change it so we could have a normal size picture in our profile. Not the small one.
Thanks!!

The salicylic acid that many of you asked for is now available. I will not be putting this product on the main page of danielkern.com. It will only be available through
this link.
I'm keeping the salicylic acid somewhat of a secret because I made a very limited amount of it. I want you guys to give me feedback before deciding whether to make this a staple product. If you do decide to order it I'm asking for you to commit to taking a
one page survey on it so we can all decide what we like about it and what needs changing and whether to make it in larger batches for the general public.
More about it: It is a light feeling, moisturizing cream which has 2% salicylic acid. This is the legal limit. 1 1/2% of that 2% is good 'ol regular sal acid, and 1/2% is time released. After speaking with several master formulators we decided on 1/2% time released so that we get an initial boost of sal acid and some extra lingering and being released slowly. Salicylic acid, as we know, helps peel inside the pore, keeping pores from clogging and initiating acne. I also put a ton of other stuff in this product. I included
lichochalcone, a Chinese licorice root extract which is potently calming and soothing to acne-prone skin. This is the same stuff that's in our
AHA+. I also put sebum reducers to help control oil. Lastly, I put natural antimicrobials in there. My theory with this product is to attack acne from every possible angle, using all of the very latest performance ingredients on the market.
The cream absorbs quickly into the skin. It is a kind of tan/yellow color due to the licochalcone. It has a characteristic odor due to the combination of natural ingredients. This scent be a little strong when applying it, but it goes away completely in a matter of a minute or two.
My bottom line on it: You guys know I am always completely honest. Well, here goes some more honesty...salicylic acid is not benzoyl peroxide, no matter what other performance ingredients you put in there. Benzoyl peroxide is our workhorse. It's what will clear up acne completely when used within the
Acne.org Regimen. However, I do think this salicylic acid is the best ever made if I do say so myself. It's time released and is jam packed with other stuff that I think will really help. It's absolutely everything I can possibly throw together to bump up salicylic acid's effectiveness. I tried it myself for about six weeks. I used it in the morning and benzoyl peroxide at night, which was great because I could wear colored clothing during the day without worrying about bleaching anything. This regimen of sal acid in the morning and benzoyl peroxide at night kept me clear for the first four weeks or so, but then I started breaking out just a bit here and there. I prefer 100% perfect skin, so I went back to the full Acne.org Regimen with benzoyl peroxide twice a day.
Currently I keep some of this salicylic acid around and use it as a nighttime moisturizer when I'm in the mood. Because this salicylic acid is so soothing, I can use it with my benzoyl peroxide no problem.
My bottom, bottom line is really to wait until you guys give me feedback on it so we can all decide together how good this stuff is. At that point I'll decide whether to keep making it.
