Just wanted to say that this advice from Heartless is just about the best advice on this entire thread. You can buy the most expensive goop on the planet, but if it's not applied correctly, it won't give you the desired results. I'd recommend even taking a hand mirror outside in the sun and checking your handiwork out there. You'll be shocked at how different it looks. I've horrified myself before with some terrrrible make-up jobs, so don't make my same mistake!

Oh, another thing is, clean hands are the best tool for applying foundation. Don't fool with cosmetic sponges unless you use a clean one every single time. (which can get pricey). You generally need a brush to apply powder, but clean them regularly because those things harbor bacteria badly!!

I am a guy and have tried using makeup to conceal my acne and some mild/moderate scarring but for some reason durring the daytime i feel that it is noticible at times or looks weird, i usually dry the makeup so that it can become more thick than liquidy, it works better. Sometimes i break out, sometimes i dont...not a good risk nevertheless. Have been using CG "clean makeup" classic ivory...maybe not a perfect skin color match, but close. I was wondering what makeup product would be good for a guy, and if i need foundation or concealer because i do not know the differences in makeup. What product do i need in order to get as close/natural to my skin as possible and give me good scarring coverage without breakouts.

I would say that my skin is neither...however it's more towards oily than dry

hey people. i need your help. my son is a part time actor/model. he has a tan bronze complexion (middle eastern) and he has been looking for the best make up he can sue since hen eeds to cover some belimishes and acne. whats the best anti acne make up he can sue out of all theo nes you suggested. price doesnt matter but the quality does. we want the best for investmen.

they are advice to retouch after scene due to sweathing from the light.

he is currently using a mac make up but he is kinda having acne due to that. is there any better concealer for spots and the best powder for the face and retouching? what do you advice?

royalredus, what would you reccomend for me to use?
I have oily skin, not super oily anymore because I have been working on it but I still think it's on the oily side.
Anyway, I don't know anything about make up, I want something that won't break me out, something that covers red marks, and maybe makes me look tanned at the same time, just want my skin to look healthy.

max factor panstik foundation is great for cystic coverage. just be careful, this stuff is very, very opaque

Could someone tell me... why is that powder like 8 different colors?? I've seen womens powders that look similar to this, and I never understood why it wasn't just one color.

Also, is the purpose of all powders to eliminate shine, or are some only for preventing the smearing of foundation? I have a mens anti shine powder which came with a sponge applicator... why are some powders supposed to be applied with a sponge, and others (such as the one in the link above) with a brush?? Any info would be appreciated.

My friend uses Elegant Minerals makeup because it's not shiny. It's natural and it's matte.

You can't even tell he has anything on.

I only know this because I put some of my foundation on him....

And now he won't give it back! lol

^I like ladies makeup, too. It seems to have a wider shade selection and cover better than men's makeup does.

powders generally eliminate shine because they are solids and dissolve quickly into your skin if your skin is oily. This gives you a more matte effect as opposed to using liquid foundations. Some people use liquid foundations because it has less of a tendency to clog pores than powder. Those individuals sometimes get makeup primers (in powder or liquid form) to remove the shine so to get the matte effect. Makeup primers do little for providing coverage.

Sponges and brushes give the same effect. Some people who are concerned with hygiene would prefer disposable sponges as opposed to using the same brush over and over again. With brushes you must clean with alchohol each time you are done and that may be annoying. Additionally, cosmetic sponges have a tendency to absorb foundation. If you use powdered or cream foundation, sponges are a good choice and you don't need to worry about absorbing. But I would reccomend a brush for liquids because the sponges will just absorb it.

Brushes are generally quite pricey so if you use liquids, it might not be a bad idea to use your finger tips but finish off with a sponge to even out.

The best way to cover un-even skin or spots is Estee Lauder maximum cover lightweight foundation. It covers marks and redness almost completely. I use a tiny little bit on top of my moisturiser and it even out my complexion perfectly and hides any spots. Because I only have to use such a small amount, nobody ever knows I'm using it.

It's also waterproof and transfer proof (pretty much). It doesn't block my pores and it doesn't cause breakouts.

I tried about 50+ foundations, tinted moisturisers, mens skin engancers (masculine name for tinted moisturiser) and most of them looked so obvious I'd just rather have a few spots. Most of them I tried once and threw in the bin. This product was like the answer to my prayers and made the bad days livable.

I've bought concealers from this site that work unbelievably well. You can even cover a tattoo with it and it looks completely natural. You can use it anywhere to cover whatever you want.
and even better, it's affordable.

I only use it on special occasions just to be safe cause I hate putting a lot of anything on my face. And as with any concealer it did make me break out a few days later but it was very little and I expected that.

It's waterproof, and it doesn't cake or look un-natural. I don't know if they have any stores or if you can buy it retail, but you can try and look.
