So I've had acne for 7 years and finally decided to go with accutane because I got tired of the emotional and physical pain, misery and suffering!

I was prescribed accutane 3-4 years ago but at the time I was too scared and didn't want to risk it, but now I think it's worth a little bit of risk... and you always gotta take risk in life or else you will never get anywhere.

My derm started me on 40mg day for the first month...

I started on July 28th, 08, so its been about 3 days for me.

So far I've had 0 side affects, other than actually getting really good sleep at night for some reason.

I might be breaking out from it, but I was already breaking out pretty bad right before I started it so it might not be because of accutane.

I should take some pics but I dont like looking at my own face... and especially during accutane I wanna avoid as much as possible to not get depressed about it! If I can't see it, than it won't hurt me so much inside... it was enough of the derm to tell me it is severe and scarring... and i can feel it while washing my face.

My brother just told me that I've not been taking accutane with good fatty foods like I am suppose to... which could be the reason why I haven't seen any side affects yet because I might not be getting the 100% absorption.

I've been taking it with Fish oil supplements, almonds, and 2-3 chicken pieces along with rice. Pretty heavy meal, but I guess not good amounts of fats in there?? I am going to start taking it with Milk instead of water.

Any suggestions/opinions on this??

Give it more time. The meal you're taking it with is fine. Replacing water with milk might be a plus. Your're not going to see the side effects till a week, or to two weeks later after starting Accutane.

You can eat it with a spoonful of peanut butter, doesn't that sounds yummy?

My face feels better but looks like shit! It doesn't hurt as much and not as bumpy as before...

I used mama lotion last night to help with my skin because ever since I stopped using it my acne has gotten 100x worst in 3 weeks... plus accutane hasn't started taking its affect so Im going to continue using it until I see a difference thanks to accutane... I shouldn't have stopped using Mama lotion it was really helping so much before and I stopped using it cuz I thought I would just go on accutane to solve it once and for all... but had the worst breaktout of my life after I stopped using it.

I'm sorry things suck right now. I hope Accutane takes effect and starts giving you some improvement soon. Hang in there!

I hate my skin... I am just going on vacation tomorrow and it's the worst my skin has ever looked in several years, family and gf is forcing me to go otherwise i wouldn't ever...

Today was my 6th day of taking accutane, almost a week with no side affects except that I get tired and lazy sorta but I was always like that... no difference in skin yet.

The dry lips have started but that might be because I took a 12 hour trip to chicago and didnt have much to drink to keep myself hydrated.

Well havent updated in a few days was on vacation... only side effect I have experienced so far is dry lips... everyone has been telling me my skin is looking better already!

I feel its getting better, it's been a little flaky so I exfoliated today in the morning feels much better... no serious cysts or anything at this time, one scab on my face from previous cysts like pimple that bled and died during sleep.

I do feel a cyst coming on the right side of my face, I always get the same cyst in the same place!!! It just died this week and it is coming up again I think gosh!

So far no side effects other than minor dry lips thank god also I think I am about to have a initial break out, it hasn't happened yet, so far my acne has just cleared up very nicely much clearer compared to before but I feel as if the right side of my face is going to break out...

I think I am just about walking into that initial breakout. I had a nosebleed few days ago but it was caused by the A/C cuz it causes extra dryness and can lead to nosebleed so accutane + a/c is bad combination and you will surely end up with nosebleeds. Haven't turned on the AC since and no nosebleeds

Just started m'self. Luck with it! Don't forget that though it is often very hard during the course, by the end you'll be acne free for life!

Man I've been getting nose bleeds on a daily basis now which sucks, it happens randomly

My skin is looking pretty clear now, I am getting my confidence back which is a good thing. Still scarred and occasional pimples popping up but nothing as bad as before. I will be posting up pictures again tonight of my progress.
