I have a question about Dan's AHA. I currently use Neutrogena's AHA Face lotion. I really like the outcome of Neutrogena's AHA on my skin. My marks have faded, and its made my skin much smoother. (I am also currently on the regimen). Here is my question, how is Dan's AHA compared to that of neutrogena(if anyone knows). I mean does, it more or less work the same? I would really like to support this site and Dan, because I love all of the other products, plus Dan's AHA is cheaper. So yeah..if anyone has insite on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Wash gently with Purpose Cleaner(am and pm) Apply Hibicleans with a cotton ball, than wash off(pm) Small amount of BP in trouble places(am and pm) Cetaphil moisturizer(am) Spot treating with Neutrogena Face Lotion with AHA(am and pm) 99% clear with this regimen!! Now I just have to work on my red marks and oiliness |

I think that dan's aha is 10% and the neutrogena is like 4% or something like that. So basically dan's is stronger but it has the licorice root in it so it's really soothing. I like Dan's aha but I can't use it everyday because it can dry out my skin. I use it about twice a week with the regimen. It's a good product you should give it a try.

i used to use the neutrogena aha and i like it but then i ordered dan's aha caus ei heard it was stronger and i really like the effects of aha. i like dans better personally think it fades redmarks faster....i also dont put BP on red marks cause i think it might prolong them idk for sure tho.

I've used both. They both have their plus and minuses, and I think which one you prefer depends on where your priorities lie.
In terms of efficacy, they both keep my skin looking fresh and smooth and get rid of marks from old acne rather quickly. Neither completely gets rid of my non-inflamed clogged bumps. They both are adequate moisturizers for the most part, but not always enough in dry/cold weather. Dan's beats Neutrogena on low irritation and redness. Though Dan's has a slightly higher percentage of AHA (10% vs. 8%), his has no added fragrance, which reduces the irritation and redness when using AHA. The licochalcone in Dan's may also play a role in keeping it from making my skin too red, though it's hard to pinpoint a specific cause. I use the night version of the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion and find the SPF 15 one way, way, way too irritating because of the particular SPF ingredients in combination with the fragrance. If you're used to the SPF 15 version of NHSFL, you'll really appreciate how much gentler Dan's is on your skin. On the other hand, I do prefer the consistency of NHSFL over Dan's. NHSFL seems to absorb better and doesn't clump up quite as much as Dan's does. I can't really use either during the day with makeup because of the clumping, but I could get away with it more with NHSFL than with Dan's. (I use AHA at night for this reason.) If you want to use AHA during the day with SPF and with makeup, NHSFL has the edge. In terms of price, they're probably fairly even when you take shipping and handling of Dan's into account, with Dan's maybe being cheaper depending where you buy your NHSFL. (I used to get multipacks of it on Amazon.com with free shipping, so it worked out to be inexpensive, but if you get it at the drugstore, Dan's will almost certainly be cheaper.)

Thanks for all of that! That is defintely a lot of useful info! Fortunately, or unfortunately my skin is as tough as nails, so it really takes a lot to actually irritate it(or do anything to it for that matter). I think I might just buy Dan's and see how it works out, and go from there! I still have some of my NHSFL, just incase!

I find the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion to be very greasy feeling and looking and also causes some redness but is plenty moisturizing. Can someone compare to greasiness (sp?ha) and moisturizing effectiveness of the two. Can you wear AHA+ out in the morning w/out too much shine?
thanks! |
