How do i prepare? should i wash my face before I go? I wear makeup to cover up the redness of my face, so i assume I would have to take off the makeup somewhere along the line, but do i do it before i go or what?

Should i tell her i think i have rosacea, or should i just describe my symptoms?
How do you even pronounce rosacea? (lol)

I have little freaking annoying bumps all around my nose/cheek area, my cheeks and nose are ALWAYS pink (but they seem to have gotten a lot better over the past like 3 months? what the heck is that about, they've been red ever since i started having acne), and my face flushes at the tiniest most annoying thing.

I'm 18 years old.

I also have some minor acne in various spots around my face and I'm scared she might try to treat that instead of treating me for rosacea.

What should i tell her? everything i just told you guys?

Oh boy. First, calm down, because you seem hyper about this. Personally, I don't like dermos, I think they all prescribe the same 5 drugs. But anyway, DON'T wear make-up and DO tell her your skin's history and make sure she listens to ALL of it.

it's just like going to doctor for anything else. give her/him as much information as you think is necessary--it's better to give too much than not enough. tell him/her what your concerns are and what you expect. also tell them the products you use and your skin's history. anything that will help them hook you up with the right medication is important. you can tell her you think you have rosacea (roh-zey-shee-uh,) but definitely tell her why. the symptoms are more important than your prognosis.

It's okay to be nervous.
I went to the dermatologist my first time when I was 13.. (i'm 18 too, and i havent gone to see her again in about a year..i need to go back.. haha anyways!)

You can wear makeup to there, but the dermatologist will ask you to wash it off. She/he will then closely examine your skin and diagnose you. Trust me, if you've got redness or anything else wrong with your skin.. they will tell you what it is. I had skin problems I didn't know I had until she told me.. lol. But definitely don't be afraid to ask any questions. It's their profession, and I know it can be embarrassing to show your face off to someone like that and then have them be blunt to you about it, but they've seen it all. They're here to help you.

And FYI, it's normal to cry after a dermatologist visit.. lol at least for me it was. My very first appointment, I was so upset afterwards. A friend of mine also went to see a dermatologist, and after her first visit she never went back because she was so upset.
