I'm 20, female, and I've had acne since I was about 13-14. It always changes to mild, moderate, (I had pretty severe acne one time), but usually it's mild or moderate. But around 2 years ago, my acne started to worsen and I'd constantly break out and I hated it!! (I'm sure all you acne sufferers hate acne too. =() I've tried a lot of things you can get in drug stores, like neutrogena, clear & clear, clearasil, blah blah and they all never worked. I used proactive once too and it didn't do s*** which was really disappointing cause when you watch those commercials, they get your hopes up so high. My parents felt bad for me too, so they advised me to go see a doctor, so I went to my family doctor and he prescribed me with oral antibiotics. Those things didn't do anything for me either. I was on it for about 1 month or so and because it gets rid of all bacteria, it wasn't really good for my digestive system either. So I stopped taking that, and I tried another set of antibiotics which AGAIN didn't work. I was so disappointed at this point because I felt it was so unfair that I had to deal with this when I didn't ask for it. But anyways, I didn't focus too much about it and in a way (I know this sounds crazy) but I was glad I had acne because when I see someone with acne, I know how they feel about it. =). Anyways, because the antibiotics didn't work, my doctor referred me to a dermatologist and he told me to start taking diane 35 (birth control pills). It worked after about 2 months, made my skin less oily and it made my acne quite mild! I was pretty happy about it, but after about 6-7 months of taking it, it kinda just stopped working. And again my acne was coming back and so I finally stopped taking any about 2 months ago. My acne has worsened a bit since I stopped which is to be expected.
SOOO.. I finally decided to try this Clear Skin Regime! I started 4 days ago actually, and I'm hoping this regime will finally clear up my skin! I have very oily skin and I have quite a few red marks left from old acne, actually quite a LOT. But I know the scars will eventually fade, and the only way I'm gonna achieve clear skin is to have no more active acne! Atm, I only have about 3 inflamed zits right now and a bunch of acne scars. I have asian skin so I tend to experience a lot more hyperpigmentation, which is pretty annoying.. So for the past 4 days, I've been using Cetaphil oily skin cleanser, dan's BP 2.5%, and neutrogena oil-free SPF moisturizer, night and day. I haven't noticed any significant improvement, but I have noticed that my face is getting quite pinky in colour, and my face is greasier after I put on the moisturizer. My face feels sort of irritated and itchy in some areas, but I've refrained from itching! I was using a full pump of the BP, but after reading some other regimen blogs, I'm going to only use about half a pump for the first week, and then slowly ramp the amount to 1 pump by week 2. I just want to say, thank you for all those who have made personal regimen logs to help acne sufferers like me stay motivated. I really hope this works for me, and I'll keep posting my progress as well. This site has really given me encouragement, and I'll make sure to stay on this regime for a good 3 months. Wish me luck!! |

As a person who just started myself, I'm here to support you as well! I just got my kit yesterday morning and have used the regimen a total of only 3 times now. No new breakouts yet, but I'm definitely expecting one so I won't be disappointed or surprised when it comes, since most regimen users do experience an initial breakout. Just as you, I also have just a few inflamed zits with mostly red marks since I had a huge breakout not too long ago. I'm on the regimen hoping to get completely clear and not have anymore breakouts. I'm going to have to figure something out to get rid of my red marks as well once my skin does clear.
Anyway, definitely keep us all updated, we are in this together! |

Good luck with yours! I'm at Day 10 or 11 (not sure haha) and I'm seeing some serious improvement. It might be the best feeling in the world to wake up and not have a new pimple haha.

Like I tell everyone on this regimen, persistence is the main thing. Treating your acne really is a roller coaster ride in itself. It took me a good 4 months before I was almost completely clear. Also, you might want to look into Dan's AHA to control flakes because the regimen does tend to dry out the skin.

Today is day 5 and I think I have a few new ones? Not too sure I don't remember if they were there already or not. lol. I'm going to start staring at my face more after a month! Hopefully I'll see some serious improvement like you! Like I tell everyone on this regimen, persistence is the main thing. Treating your acne really is a roller coaster ride in itself. Yeah I've read in a lot of threads that patience and peristence is the key to get clear skin with this regime! 4 months is quite long, but then it's so worth it if it's going to work! I tried so many other things for so long and they didn't work that 4 months I'm sure won't be too bad. I gotta be optimistic!! |

Today is day 6!! My skin is quite dry, especially after cleansing, but once the bp is on and the moisturizer is on, my skin doesn't appear to look flaky or too dry.
I still have a few active pimples, but I know they're to be expected so I'm not freaking out whatsoever. One thing that's really irritating is my upper lip!! It's quite dry, because I think when I'm applying the BP, some of it gets on my upper lip =/. I put a LOT of lip balm on this morning though, so hopefully that'll get rid of the dryness. So far my forehead is pretty much 100% clear, I had a few active zits when I started, but they have all dried out and now they're gone! My main problem area is near the chin area, below the mouth. (argh) I put the most BP there, and hopefully that area will start to clear up soon. |

I know what you mean, my upper lip is sensitive too and I rarely get a pimple there so I just skip it. ...and it makes me cringe to see Dan do it in his videos - smear a big line across his upper lip, haha, but obviously his skin is much more used to it. |

tth1990 - Yeah dan puts a huge amount of bp on his upper lip, I was like whoa!! haha. But yeah I didn't put any bp on that area last night or this morning because I don't get any zits on that area. I don't want any more drying because my face is so dry right now!
Anyways, it's been 1 week since I started the regime, and so far so good. I have no zits on my forehead, and I didn't get any new ones today! My face is VERY dry though, I look like a reptile! LOL. Okay not that bad, but especially after cleansing. And when I smile, omg my face feels SO tight. BUT I know this is to be expected, so I'm not worrying! My face isn't red or itchy anymore, so that's definitely a plus. (YAY!) I will keep on going with the updates!! I hope they're encouraging other people to try this regime too! |

truehiphop - thanks for the advice! But I'm sort of scared that it's gonna make my face really oily, because I have some serious oily skin. Literally, after an hour or two, there's like a shine on my face. Think about 6-8 hours. lol!
I'm just curious though, do you think this flakiness is going to be occurring all the time? Even 2-3 months in? Or just for the first month? =/ So today is day 10!! And I definitely see some improvement. I only have 1 active pimple at the moment, and it's pretty small too. The rest are just red marks, and I'm still getting some flakiness, especially around the chin area. My skin isn't as red as it was when I started the regime, and makeup totally covers it too. It's sort of difficult to apply makeup though. It doesn't seem to go on smoothly like before, probably because my skin is kinda hardish from being dry and starting the regime. So I was using about 3/4 of a pump and now I'm using a full pump. My skin is taking it pretty well, so I'll probably use 1 full pump and a 1/4 or something at the start of week 2! I forgot to note that I do take vitamins, but I was taking them way before I even started the regime, so I doubt they made a difference to my skin, BUT they're good for overall health! So this is what I take every morning =): - 2 omega 3,6,9's - 1 Vitamin D - 1 Vitamin E - 1 Vitamin C - 1 Vitamin B12 - Sublingual |

the jojoba oil does leave the skin lookin oily but what i do to take the shinyness off i just get a little piece of toilet paper and just pat it on my face so it can look normal
i was wondering the same thing but im actually seein an improvement on the flakiness i been usin jojoba oil for almost 2 weeks and the flakiness is almost gone. so i dont think we will have to keep usin jojoba oil for 2-3 months Hope u keep seein improvement :] |

Thanks truehiphop! I hope you see improvement too! and it sounds like you are! i just read your personal regime lol!
It's been TWO WEEKS since I started, and it's hard for me to say if I've seen substantial improvement, because I really don't have much acne, mostly red marks. I still do get a few zits, but I've noticed that they're a lot smaller than the ones I used to get, which is of course GOOD. haha. The part I hate the most about this regime is that my skin is SO dry after I wash my damn face. >=(. My skin looks like it's cracking up close! I hope this stops happening after a month or so, because I don't think it's good for my skin to be cracking like this either. I've stopped using the regime on my nose because I never get any break outs there, and that way my nose isn't dry either. Because my face is so dry and flaky, I thought it'd work if I used an exfoliating scrub just today, but nooo it made my face even MORE dry after! Hmm what else. My face isn't red or irritated/itchy whatsoever so that's a def. plus. Oh and the bp doesn't dye any of my clothes, towels, bedsheets or pillows for some reason. I guess that's a good thing?? Anyways, I'll update again soon! |
