I'm a little over a month into Tane, 40mg a day. My skin got pretty bad the second week, then cleared up amazingly. Now I'm back to pre-tane conditions. I just got my first refil, and my derm thought since it was working so well that I shouldn't risk an increase in dosage. Now I'm back to where I started, and won't be able to increase my dose for another month.

Has anyone else experienced an IB, clearing, and then another huge breakout?

I'm getting really discouraged at this point.

I started accutane about 3 weeks ago. During the past week I have been experiencing a new kind of back pain, but am unable to say for certain its from the tane. I think I remember seeing that most people here have lower back pain, but mine isn't really "low"

I'm not sure how to describe it. I think the best way would be to say that it is around the bottom of my rib cage, but above my kidneys. Its not near my neck at all though. I only really notice it when I lie down or arch my back backward. Its pretty sharp for a minute but fades quickly.

It's not something I remember experiencing in the past. I just have a hard time saying it's the meds because I have been under a lot of stress, been doing a lot more walking, and have had to carry things long distances lately.

It would help if anyone else who has had accutane-caused backpain could describe it so I know if that's a possibility.

Thanks!

Day 1, September 23rd

Popped my first pill this morning, it feels like I've been waiting forever. I've had acne for about 7 years now, and have tried at least a dozen different medicines (Proactive, duac, differin, evoclin, atralin, the list goes on). I would say I have moderate acne, but covering 90% of my face. I am on 40mg a day for the first 30 days.

I took my first pill with a scoop of peanut butter, and have already started using a higher end moisturizer with SPF and lots of carmex. I'm bracing myself for the dryness.

Needless to say there is nothing to report yet, I do hope something happens soon, although I have a lot of acne under the skin which I have a feeling will be making its way to the surface any day now.

Well, wish my luck, and advice you guys can give would be great.

This morning I took my first dose of Accutane, can't say it was easy getting to this point. I know I still have a long way to go to clear skin. Any words of wisdom?

What are your tips and tricks to a successful course? I took my pill with a scoop of peanut butter because I didn't have time for a real breakfast, and applied moisturizer with SPF and bought Carmex to keep my lips from getting dry. Anything other things you guys think will make this whole experience easier?

Thanks

Hey guys, I'm new here.

I got my first blood test done last Monday, and was instructed to call my derm on friday to get my first Accutane perscription. She told me that was very important, I had to call her that day. When I called, there was an automated message that the office had been closed that entire week and will not open until next monday.

Now I am worried that too much time will pass after my blood test before I get the script. If I hear back from my derm on monday (tomorrow) it will have been a whole week. I do not want to have to wait ANOTHER month for another blood test.

Will she still be able to approve my script so late?

Thanks smile.gif
