Pros: works for the time being... Cons: it works short-term only. it's very possible to work up a resistance to it. Bottom Line: don't use this, there are other products on the market that will make you feel better and get better results. Pros: Worked good for the first 2 days Cons: It was working good, and i was happy. but just like other medications i've tried, the acne slowly came back in the exact same places. Made my skin very very dry and red as I kept using it. Bottom Line: Could work for you, I've read good things from some people. But if you have sensitive dry/oily skin this is not for you. Pros: Purging (if that's considered a pro!) Cons: Oily skin Bottom Line: I'm 20 years old and have been suffering from mild but persistent acne for the past few years. I also get light break-outs on various parts of my back. I've tried a slew of OTC products, none of which really gave me the results I was looking for. I finally went to a derm last week and this is the regimen she prescribed me: AM -Ovace wash (RE10 for the generic) -Cleocin T lotion (Clindamycin Phosphate 1% for generic) and Vanoxide HC lotion, which is a combo of 5% BP and 0.5% hydrocortisone -non-comedogenic moisturizer (I bought Cetaphil with SPF15 but haven't needed it yet as my face is oily from the regimen) PM -non-medicated soap (I bought Dove) -Atralin gel I've been doing this for 3 days and have noticed my face is purging out pimples, which the derm said is normal. She said as long as I stick to the regimen religiously, my skin should clear in a few months. I've been using oil-absorbing sheets to combat the oiliness. Wish me luck!!!!! Pros: It cleardupmy skin worked well and then when i ranout my acne came back ... Pros: cures acne...temporarily Cons: antibiotic resistance Bottom Line: I used clindamycin (Dalicin?) from fall 2003 till about the summer of 2005. In that period of time, not only did my skin clear up. but I led a whole different lifestyle. However, that all came crashing down that summer when I found out the reality of antiobiotic resistance. I am interested in trying the product again; it's 3 yrs later and I still haven't outgrown my acne, so i want to give it one more shot because this time I am prepared for antibiotic resistance. The only thing is, since my skin's been resistant to it in the past, will it still wrk at the same level as it did before? I'm assuming it will since I havent used the product on my skin in 3 yrs, but lets see. My plan for this time is to use it for a year, (hopefully) get clear and switch to benzamycin, which elso worked for my skin. Pros: it really hasn't helped much Cons: it dried my skin for a while, then it went back to its oily self Bottom Line: I've been using this for a few months and I can honestly say I haven't seen any change or improvement with my skin, I maybe breaking out because of it Recommended: No Usage: Reviewer has used this item for a few months. Pros: for the first year or so it is awesome. Cons: antibiotic resistance Bottom Line: Okay I suffered acne for over 10 years and this really cleared me up when I really needed it. I was breaking out with numerous whiteheads everyday. But when I used this all my friends said my skin was clear, and it really was it was a great 2 years I had with this but then it started to wear off. Pros: no side effects, cleared whiteheads, lessened cystic pimples, seems to be helping to balance my skin Cons: doesn't do much for blackheads Bottom Line: I've had acne for about nine years, and have tried pretty much every OTC out there, most of them seeming to make things worse. So I broke down and went to my doc. She gave me topical clindamycin (in liquid form) and benzoyl peroxide (which I've used for years, but it's supposed to be more effective along with the clindamycin). I've been using them for about a month, and my skin likes it for now. I normally have very oily skin, and this seems to help with that problem. I still have a few pimples and some black heads on my forehead and nose, but I can't complain too much considering I can leave the house now with just a little concealer instead of caking on makeup.
