Some of my scars are as old as ten years, but I thought I'd give the scar gel a try. I purchased a knockoff, Rexal Scar Gel. One week later and the newer scars have significantly improved, red areas are disapearing and older scars seem to be getting "fresher." I hope that that is a sign that they are healing cleaner? The knockoff is only ten Canadian and although makeup can not be aplied over top, it is invisible otherwise making wearing it through the day no problem. So far so good.

I've been using this product awhile, haven't noticed any change with the indented scars, none whatsoever. Making them "appear softer" isn't noticeable because they are indented, but I thought it might help these few scars on my nose--no change, guess I'll need that chemical peel afterall.:( I've been using it for over a year. Too expensive to be this ineffective-unless the price goes down,(slow, not noticeable results are easier to take if you're not spending $15.00 for .70 oz) I won't be buying anymore.

Mederma is an awesome treatment for fresh acne scars. A lot of people on here say that it makes their skin itchy, and YES, it definitely will make your skin itch, and I believe that is just how your skin feels as it is tightening up and minimizing the scar. You have to apply it when you don't plan on being in public because it does dry and leave a film on your skin. I would usually just use tweezers to gently pull away the film, revealing a less visible scar than the night before. It is really amazing. The onion peel is supposed to be the active ingredient. But, as we all know, we all have different sensitivities to different things, and you could possibly have an allergic reaction to the onion peel. As for drying out the skin, I have never had that, but like I said - it does leave a film which can look like dry skin, but it is really just dried up product. Basically, you just apply it to freshly healing scars on your face or slightly old scars and leave it on for as long as possible, atleast a few hours. Overnight is even better, but most of us use a topical ointment at night. It makes a HUGE difference and turns the bright red scar mark into a less noticable light pink mark that is easier to disguise with a nice concealer, such as Merle Norman's Cover Up in a color that closely resembles your skin color. Voila!

I used it for two days and couldn't use it any longer. It made my face VERY itchy! I wish I could return it to the manufacturer. It says "Satisfaction Guaranteed" on the box. We'll see!

I recentley had ACL recon surgery and wanted to minimize the scars. If you have new scars, rubbing them to get the blood to circulate within the scars and created new tissue is better than any scar cream could do for you. I am currently trying Mederma and its been about 6 weeks now. Im a little dissapointed in the difference Ive seen, but will be hopeful for more noticeable improvments in the future

I used Mederma for two weeks and it caused severe break outs. I do not recommend this product to anyone who has sensitive skin.

I have been using this on my complexion with aloe vera every night. Alone the aloe made me break out, but combined I wake up and my skin is really SOFT! My skin is always super oily and bad, or really dry/dull/flaky. With this combo I've been waking up with a really soft complexion, (some drying, but after a mild scrub really supple!) I look younger, and healthier!
I have had a little bit of irritation, but I think that is because I've also been washing with benzol soap prior to application.
Anyhow, I've tried EVERYTHING, and this regime seems to be working for me.

I HAD very deep wrinkles on face, using this gel for only two weeks, the wrinkles are not as deep, can't wait to see my face in 2-4 months as recommended for scars...nothing else has ever worked so good and I have tried every treatment available...I can't believe my eyes, I rub it in all day long, every day.

My husband and were moving junk out of the basement and his face brushed against the uncut portion of a roll of chickenwire, scratching his face from his nose to his jawline by his ear. It wasn't a very deep scratch, but significant enough to bleed onto his shirt. I immediately called our doctor and got a tube of Maderma. It was unbelievable how quickly the scratch mark disappeared. Although it happened 4 days ago, you need to look really closely at his face to see the scratch mark.
This is great stuff. My husband put it on 4 times a day and it really works.
I've neer tried it on old scars.

I do not have anymore acne on my face, chest, or any other part of my body. The only thing that I am left with is some scars on my chest that are not icepick scars, (i have seen pictures), yet are a lot darker than my skin color. My mum has told me that I should be out in the sun tanning so that it blends in with the rest of my skin, but I am seeing no improvements. Please help me by telling me the best reatment for this type of acne scar. I am getting worried with the summer coming up. :(
