It's good for the nature people, but to be honest, it doesn't work, I used this before I started the regimen, it did reduce redness and slightly help with my acne, but it defiantly didn't get rid of it

Pros

  • Reduces Redness
  • Somewhat helps reduce acne

Cons

  • Much better stuff to try
  • Will not cure acne
  • Can sting when a lot is applied
  • Must use fresh lemon juice
  • moderate
  • for about a month
  • $ 6
  • I do not recommend using this treatment.

I had been using plain extra virgin olive oil on my skin for about a month with good results and after reading some great reviews of lemon juice decided to add a squeeze or two to my olive oil. The lemon juice stings your face when you first apply it, especially where you have open pimples; however, after about 2 weeks of using olive oil and lemon juice, my skin is looking pretty good! It isn't a miracle worker - you're not going to wake up in the morning after one night of using it and see major differences, but after about a week you should notice redness and old acne scars fading. I have noticed that the addition of lemon juice has made open pimples more likely to scab over and this can be gross to look at for a day or two (and very tempting to pick at!) but often it can help the healing process, so all in all it's probably actually a good thing. Lemon juice is cheap and I've found it to be effective, so I would really recommend it!

Pros

  • Fades scars slowly
  • Seems to help new pimples that are forming stop and start to go down and even go away (if they're small)
  • Reduces redness

Cons

  • Stings a little when you first apply it
  • Makes open pimples scab
  • moderate
  • for a few weeks
  • $ 0.8
  • I recommend using this treatment.

After cleansing my skin, I cut a lemon (non-organic) in half and squeezed the juice into a cotton ball and rubbed it all over my face and left it on overnight. I did feel that my face seemed to be brighter, but it didn't improve my acne. I even started to get little white bumps along my jawline. After about a month I stopped using it, then started again about 2 months afterwards. And what do you know, I got those same little white bumps along my jawline.

But I still didn't learn my lesson. I had a pimple that I wanted to get rid of quick because of an appointment that I had, and I remember I had some lemons left over. I squeezed the juice on a cotton ball and held it on the pimple for several minutes. The next morning I had a scab! I also had the same experience with ACV. So for me, these two items are not held on the skin for long periods of time. So many others seem to have good results using the inexpensive method, but I am not one of them.

Pros

  • Smells Nice; Inexpensive

Cons

  • Stings!!
  • severe
  • for a few months
  • $ 0.25
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Why didn't I try lemon juice earlier?? I'm a 23 year old female who has suffered from acne since I was 12. I've tried BP, SA, tea tree, antibiotics, finacea, differin, birth control, Nucelle, Mychelle Dermaceuticals, and the list goes on. My body is very sensitive.

One day at the supermarket I saw the lemons and decided, "It's only a dollar. Why not try it?" After i wash my face with Kiss My Face olive oil bar soap, I slice the lemon, squeeze juice out, and soak it up into a cotton ball. Then I apply it to all my acne prone areas and hyper pigmentation/scars (I do not rinse). I then use Yes to Tomatoes facial moisturizer. In the morning I wash and moisturize.

My skin has been clearer than it has in a looooong time. I hope it works long term. I just wish I had tried it sooner!!!

Pros

  • Cheap
  • Easy
  • Natural
  • Effective
  • Prevents Acne
  • Fades Scars
  • Smells Great!

Cons

  • Burns a little sometimes, but it goes away
  • moderate
  • for a few weeks
  • $ 0.89
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I use this whenever I've had a particularly bad breakout that's left some marks.

It works rapidly on me. It's best at getting rid of those lingering red or brown dots but it did help significantly with some scar tissue near my eyebrows (it's gone completely now with lemon juice and time).

Just try not to use it too frequently, only put it on at night and wear sunscreen the day afterwards.

I've been using this method for over a year now and it still works.

Pros

  • Fades my hyper pigmentation almost completely in 3 uses normally
  • Cheap remedy
  • Makes skin brighter and lighter
  • Doesn't matter if you get it in your mouth
  • Nor as aggravating as most scar creams

Cons

  • Wasn't a miracle for my active acne, but I suppose it helped a bit
  • Fades freckles (I like my freckles ok?)
  • Must use at night as it increases your sensitivity to the sun
  • Didn't work on my mum's age spots, but she wore it out in the blazing sunshine
  • Broke me out when left on all night as it formed a film over my skin, best to wash it off after an hour or two
  • light
  • $ 1
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Cut the lemon, add a drop of honey, and rub it directly on your clean face in a circular motion. Leave on as long as possible. Honey helps lessen the stinging, and I think it works better this way.

I have severe cystic acne, and this has taken the "topical" stuff away. This was the only treatment my skin had responded well to since antibiotics (which I refused to keep taking). I was still getting some cysts, but my skin had not felt this smooth in seven years. I won't say it's a cure, but I have been on "The Whole 30" for 13 days now, which seems to be curing the cystic stuff. I've found changing my diet to be the best choice I've made in curing my acne.

I will continue to use this mask and hope it lightens the scars, which are now my biggest problem. (It has lightened them some, but it's a slow process).

My routine, if you're curious:

Eat a Whole 30 diet

Wash my face gently with warm water, a wash cloth, and organic soap nightly(something natural with the fewest ingredients possible)

lemon&honey mask nightly

moisturize with pure aloe vera (from the plant) daily

Pros

  • Smooth/Soft Skin
  • Glowing Skin
  • Heals Blemishes
  • Lightens Scars (slowly)
  • *Use with Honey

Cons

  • Makes a mess in the bathroom
  • Must use consistently (EVERY NIGHT) to see results
  • severe
  • for about a month
  • $ 4
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Yes, it will sting. But who doesn't love the satisfaction of knowing that stinging is killing all that bacteria and making your skin better?? I've only been using it for 2 days but it has rocked my world!! Large pimples were dried up and tightened the night after I first started. It makes me start the day feeling clean. Just remember to use a moisturizer after, especially if you'll be getting some sun.

Pros

  • Cheap
  • Brightens skin
  • Leaves face feeling soft
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • None!
  • light
  • for a day or two
  • $ 2
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Make sure that you are consistent and use it every night and if you can use it every day as well. The more it is used the quicker you will see results! And you do not have to rinse it off your face, you can simply wear it under your moisturizer and also under your makeup if you are a girl that is.

Pros

  • Works quickly to lighten and brighten your skin, and help fade the spots! You will notice results within two short weeks.

Cons

  • NONE!
  • severe
  • for a few months
  • $ 0.33
  • I recommend using this treatment.
