| Pros: | The pain is tolerable, the cost for spot treatments were alot less expensive than doing the whole face |
| Cons: | Your face is red & swollen so you think it is going to work. Then a week into it you notice the scars are coming back.... |
| Bottom Line: | I am tired of being SOLD on products because the doctors know how badly you want results.I have had 6 Fraxel treatments done. The first series was one a week for 4 weeks. I saw a slight (10%) improvement in my scars after 6 months. After a year I went back to the same doctor & had 2 more. No additional results at all from those additional 2 treament. I would stay away from the Fraxel treatment for acne scars it just doesn't help. Then I tried the Fractional Lux 1520 which is a more aggressive laser (they claim), it's more expensive but less painfull. Still recovery time is 3-4 days of redness. I has 2 treatments out of 4, every 3 weeks. I did have alittle improvement on 1 large scar I had but that was it so I quit going. The bottom line is we all wish we could find a doctor who actually understood what we are going through. It's about the money. I am going to start asking if they will guarentee the procedure. If they believe in the procudure & the results they will do it. |

| Pros: | I was only down one night.(I'm an esthetician) Left the house next day pink. I Used fraxel. Dr. said it took 4-6 wks to show difference. Said I would need at least 3. |
| Cons: | Need at least 3 treatments for small scars to fade out. A little pricey, but worth it. |
| Bottom Line: | I saw a noticeable difference in both light acne scars and fine lines after just one session.I noticed some delicacy in the skin for a few weeks afterwards.(i.e. don't pinch skin or blood vessels will break!)Getting next treatment in 2 weeks. MY DR. IS EXCELLENT, HE SAID FULL FACE ($5,000)CO2 LASER MAKES ACNE SCARRING LOOK WORSE! He said this because he's done it & it tightened all the skin area around the scars & the scars appeared to look worse. He said fractional lasers (fraxel)are on a lower setting (but still co2)& it is more progressive so it doesn't destroy (yes, destroy!)the epidermis(1st layer) of the skin like traditional co2 did. (by keeping some skin in-tact) Also, fraxel can be used on the neck and the old co2 CAN NOT! That's why some women have permanent darker necks and light faces. I also had the erbium($575).This shows a difference immediately but it's TEMPORARY only.Fractional laser co2 is permanent. If you spent $500 you got about the same as some microdermabrasions! |

| Cons: | Fraxel made my skin far worse. I now have scars on my cheeks where they were once smooth but sun pigmented. My skin looks terrible and ruined. It is depressing. |
| Bottom Line: | Fraxel can damage your skin as it did mine. I went in hoping to refresh and improve my sun pigmentation and instead left with pitted uneven skin. This has been a nightmare and I wish there was more honesty around the side effects. |

| Pros: | No noticeable gains, definately not worth the cost. Scars are at the smile lines on the cheeks. Deep scarring from childhood acne. |
| Cons: | Long downtime, redness, swollen face for a week. |
| Bottom Line: | Was done (3) years ago. A lot of hoopla, a lot of money, and definately not worth it. Don't make your dematologist rich using this. The lasers are a scam. Consumer protection agency should look into this false advertising. |

| Pros: | Basically, you cannot reduce scaring without going deep.
I had PSR3 done with a double pass at the highest energy setting 4 Joules. My face peeled at day 4. Positive Burning sensations lasted 12 hours.
It works on only small scars ( |
| Cons: | People with darker skin tones are at risk of permanent hypopigmentation. (lighter skin) ie. loss of pigment.
I used zinc oxide cream to accelerate the improvement. ( Diaper rash cream ) This cream can cause some irritation, acne and temp |
| Bottom Line: | In summary, there is only Rhytec for Light scars and the riskier CO2 for deeper scars (more risk, more results, redness lasts a lot longer ). Risks of CO2 laser - scaring, hypopigmentation and Demarcation. Even more Riskier methods include Phenol Peels and Dermabrasion |

| Pros: | Softer appearance on some scars. |
| Cons: | Noticed it created more scarring, painful, costly, a lot of risks associated with it. |
| Bottom Line: | What I once thought was an improvement, is now a regret. I've purchased 3 fraxel treatments and had the first fraxel done about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Only one treatment at 10mj and I noticed more scarring. Although some scars seem smoother in appearance, I've noticed small dot scarring in places I've never seen scarring before, it's very apparent in bad lighting. I've told the Dr. what I thought and he said at such low settings it can't cause scarring, only at 25mj's he said there might be a risk, but I know my scars and am certain of what it did and will NOT follow through with any more. I've had 2 erbium treatments prior which did little for my shallow atrophic cheek scars, but improved my skin texture and tone, had many compliments. It didn't make the scarring worse like the Fraxel. Fraxel can even cause pigmentation problems, luckily something I haven't experienced, yet anyway. Be cautious and don't follow thru with anything that doesn't work for you... |

| Pros: | My scars are almost 95 % over due to Fractional Laser Resurfacing |
| Cons: | There is 2 days downtime and some times hyperpigmentation occur which resolved using creams and sun block |
| Bottom Line: | I tried a lot of creams but nothing works on my scars.I had pitted Acne scars of different varieties like rolling and ice pick.I had five treatments of three weeks interval with Fractional Laser from Dr.Ahmad Chaudhry Lahore Pakistan and satisfied with the results. |

| Pros: | None |
| Cons: | Further damaged my skn |
| Bottom Line: | Beware. My scars are worse than before the laser surgery, and the texture of my skin is weird and shiny. The laser caused scars that look like long lines down my face. I wish I had invested my time and resources into figuring out how to accept myself 'as is' rather than dropping 5 K for intense suffering and worse skin. |

| Pros: | Almost totally erased terrible acne scarring all over my face |
| Cons: | expensive and long down-time -- two weeks. It's surgery, you look horrible after, red, swollen, hideous. Perhaps it isn't the right thing for everyone, I don't know. |
| Bottom Line: | I can't understand how people can get the surface of their face blasted off and not see some significant improvement in scarring! But according to some of these posts, it happens. But it saved my life, it got rid of most of the scars except four really deep ones. It doesn't work for raised scars, as far as I know, and may make them worse. |
