| Pros | Not as painful as you might think, no down time |
|---|---|
| Cons | None at all! |
| Bottom line | I am not one for pain...going into this procedure this morning I was terrified of the pain and aftermath...every comment I have read on this site didnt make it easy for me to walk in the office calm...My doctors were extremely nice and welcoming, the pain that I was expecting was not pain at all..the best way to describe it is small splashes of hot water on your face...it kind of felt good, my face was not red at first, but about three hours later I looked like I just left the beach....looked like a natural sunburn, The redness is gone now..only lasted five hours...I am back to my normal self and waiting for what is next. I am allowed to wear my make up first thing tomorrow..and I was told to keep lotion on my face and exfoliate as soon as my face starts to peel. As long as I do that, my doctor said nobody will know but me! I am to see him again in a month and looking forward to it, and my new face. |

| Pros | it works |
|---|---|
| Cons | it's expensive, time consuming, and painful. It HAS to be done by a REALLY good doctor which makes it expensive. |
| Bottom line | DO NOT do this procedure if you have even the slightest doubt in your phsyician! It is not a mild procedure and it can make you look worse. The down time for this was a solid 5 days. You will be BEET red, hideous, and swollen, but if you follow the instructions EXACTLY you will like the results. I will post the day by day under the lasers forum. |

| Pros | Recovery time was reasonable. Well worth the money. I will do it again soon. Only treatment was Jan 01. Results are awesome. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Looked like I had been in a wreck at first. |
| Bottom line | I have taken 2 rounds of accutane. I believe the laser helped prevent the severity of future breakouts. It has been explained to me that darker skinned people may have different results. I am as pale as anyone comes, so that may play a role in the success in my resurfacing. |

| Pros | Some improvement in forehead lines, lightening of a few freckles |
|---|---|
| Cons | Procedure was much more painful than advertised - down time longer than advertised - saw no difference in lines around eyes. Broke out in zits from the thick Aquafor dressing. |
| Bottom line | Skin looks slight fresher but overall not worth it. |

| Pros | More even skin tone - on the the less sensitive areas. |
|---|---|
| Cons | My chin area developed a terrible acne breakout, infection or rosacea or whatever... still waiting for a proper diagnosis. It's been six months now I a face a constant daily battle to keep my skin under control. I fear I have completely ruined it. |
| Bottom line | Don't use lasers until you have completely researched the market. If you are not sure, only use the lighter lasers for a less aggressive treatment, or dont do it at all. I used to get much better results from glycolic acid facials, I really wish I'd stuck to them now. |

| Pros | Seems to be working already |
|---|---|
| Cons | None, other than staying away from the sun |
| Bottom line | I just had my first YAG laser treatment about 2 weeks ago (followed by a mild TCA peel last week) and I am already noticing an improvement in my skin. I like the fact that my doctor is using mild peels and a "gentle" laser procedure so that I don't have to have a long recovery period. Takes a long time but I can tell it's going to be worth it. |

| Pros | It really tightened my skin and it looks much younger. |
|---|---|
| Cons | It made my pores shrink at first then I got many bumps and clogged pores and white heads and now my skin is very rough and bumpy and my pores are back. I had co2 lasering 6 weeks ago. |
| Bottom line | I would do it again because my wrinkles are gone in most places but I wish I would have known about the acne before I did it. |

| Pros | Works like a charm, get knocked out with general anesthesia- so it's painless |
|---|---|
| Cons | Expensive, 14+ days of downtime |
| Bottom line | I've got great results from Co2 laser resurfacing. I just got it done a 2nd time (1 year apart) and the results are better and better. Evened up the skin tone and smoothed out the pitted scars. |
