| Pros | Amazing results. Had it done to remove fine lines, some wrinkles, some sun freckles and sun damage. I got all of that and more. Skin is so smooth and fresh. |
|---|---|
| Cons | It was a solid 9 days of down time and at 4 weeks of healing, I am still a bit red. All of this is exactly what I expected. |
| Bottom line | Erbium laser is extremely technique sensitive and if you have an excellent doctor perform the procedure and do the pre and post treatment instructions exactly as they suggest, it should go well. I had a fabulous doctor who continue to do a lot of follow up to make sure I am healing the way I should be. Do your homework and be an informed patient. |

| Pros | I have done four fraxel restore treatments at the Los Feliz Medspa on Hillhurst in Los Feliz. As per the MD's instructions this is a process and major results are seen between the 3rd-5th treatments. After the 3rd treatment I noticed significant im |
|---|---|
| Cons | some pain during procedure; I took some advanced strength Tylenol and that helped me tolerate a higher level of spread and depth of the laser. A few days of pinkness, swelling; if you use the ice packs the swelling is greatly reduced. |
| Bottom line | My skin is much smoother and continues to improve in collagen as per the scientifically proven results. My pores and acne scars are lessened considerably, ~ a good 60 % improvement. I have not had any permanent negative reactions or skin changes. The minimal down time after each procedure and then improvements. I follow ALL directions, wear hats, wear Mexoryl sunblock by La-roche Posay. I have had wonderful results, but it did take until after the 3rd treatment to see big changes. I prefer to do these procedures when the Sun is furthest from my location. Since I'm in L.A., I steer clear of these procedures during mid- Spring through Summer, only to do them starting in November- March. After the 4th procedure my skin made another leap in smoothness, pore size, the bumps and pits from acne scaring are lessened. I'm eager to do my 5th come November and see what results will surface. Skin care budget is in lasers now rather than expensive skin creams. I'm using Sh |

| Bottom line | I totally agree with Sharon in Tampa FL from July 13, 2009. I had this procedure done in April 2007. Not only was the procedure very painful during, but the healing time was also very painful for the first 5 days and with nothing but an OTC pain reliever. I had deep-pitted scars, mainly on my cheeks. During the healing process my face was very swollen and when the bleeding and oozing and redness began to subside a little bit, I thought it had really worked, my skin was SO smooth, however, that was short-lived, when the swelling went down I was left with the same scars and a bright red/pink shiny face. I had problems with little whiteheads popping up all over from using the Aquaphor. The long-term results I think I received from this $5,000 procedure, I would say maybe, maybe 10% improvement, I also have brown spots and alot of broken little blood vessels. The doctor told me I could try this procedure again, but I don't have that kind of money, that was a one time thing. |

| Pros | None so far |
|---|---|
| Cons | Took longer to heal than expected. Broke out from the Aquaphor. Painful during procedure. No significant difference so far. |
| Bottom line | I had this procedure done 12 days ago to diminish fine lines around my upper lip. I was shown pictures of before and afters. I really thought I would look younger and smoother. I was told that I would be red, oozing and then the little dots would just flake off. After 7 days of still looking like a monster, I noticed I was developing pustules all over my upper lip. I also got small red bumps randomly around my face. I had to go back to the Doctor and was put an an antibiotic. He gave me a cream which to me has been a miracle. Biafine. I was told I had a bad reaction to the aquaphor. Luckily after 2 days of doxycycline and the biafine. I completely cleared. Now 12 days later, I am completely healed, just a bit pink in some areas. Why they give a patient who has a history of acne, aquaphor is beyond me. I really wish the Doctor had given me a script for the Biafine in the first place. If you are considering this procedure and have a history of acne, DO NOT use aquaphor. Biafine only! |

| Pros | I have worked in a laser clinic since 1993. I have seen remarkable result from CO2 resurfacing for acne scars and some good results from Fraxel lasers |
|---|---|
| Cons | There is down time from two to ten days depending upon which laser is used but we have never had anyone that did not get any result. |
| Bottom line | Depending upon which laser you use will determine your end result. CO2 is still considered to be the "gold standard" for acne scar revision. Fraxel laser (4 to 6 txs) will give you result but it is only about 50 to 80 percent of what you can acheive with one CO2 treatment. The result is very dependent upon the experience of the Doctor or Laser tech. Please research your clinic. |

| Pros | NONE Much worse |
|---|---|
| Cons | NONE |
| Bottom line | I had erbium resurfacing done in 07 for acne scars. After surgery I was left with rolling scars, dents, brown spot & redness for over a year. Skin is sooo sensitive, it changed dramatically. I've gone through so many ipl treatments for the broken blood vessels & redness. Now I'm going for laser for all the scars it left including the dent & brown spot on my cheek. Ruined my life. Extreamly painful, didn't sleep for 5 nites. I would never ever recomend anything that takes off a layer of your skin. Only lasers that work underneth. |

| Pros | I had some scaring from large pores on the bottom part of both cheeks. I had the erbium laser twice in the last 10 months and my face looks worse than it did to start with. I am scarred now on all of my face from the laser. I never had acne until now |
|---|---|
| Cons | I am so depressed now because after going through the pain twice, it has made my face worse. I can't stand to look in the mirror now. I thought I was doing something to help me out but only made things worse. |
| Bottom line | If anyone knows anything I can do for scarring from the laser, please let me know. I am so sad about this and it's taking over my life. Thank you. |

| Pros | Not as painful as you might think, no down time |
|---|---|
| Cons | None at all! |
| Bottom line | I am not one for pain...going into this procedure this morning I was terrified of the pain and aftermath...every comment I have read on this site didnt make it easy for me to walk in the office calm...My doctors were extremely nice and welcoming, the pain that I was expecting was not pain at all..the best way to describe it is small splashes of hot water on your face...it kind of felt good, my face was not red at first, but about three hours later I looked like I just left the beach....looked like a natural sunburn, The redness is gone now..only lasted five hours...I am back to my normal self and waiting for what is next. I am allowed to wear my make up first thing tomorrow..and I was told to keep lotion on my face and exfoliate as soon as my face starts to peel. As long as I do that, my doctor said nobody will know but me! I am to see him again in a month and looking forward to it, and my new face. |

| Pros | it works |
|---|---|
| Cons | it's expensive, time consuming, and painful. It HAS to be done by a REALLY good doctor which makes it expensive. |
| Bottom line | DO NOT do this procedure if you have even the slightest doubt in your phsyician! It is not a mild procedure and it can make you look worse. The down time for this was a solid 5 days. You will be BEET red, hideous, and swollen, but if you follow the instructions EXACTLY you will like the results. I will post the day by day under the lasers forum. |
