I had c02 laser performed under my eyes in April. 6 months later, and I still have redness and the texture of my skin is horrible. I feel like it will never go away. The skin is saggier. My dr has been completely insensitive and says that it will heal. He told me it would take a few weeks at most to heal, and now says it could take a year. Has anyone who has experienced scarring from the laser sued their dr?

I have moderate scarring on my entire face. I had the Erbium laser performed. The price was $3000 and though it did remove an age spot I only saw a 5% improvement in my scarring. The recovery was long (14 days) and scary. I wouldn't waste my money on this procedure.
I had subscision with sculptra recently and did see some improvement 25% (cost was $1200).
I am thinking of following up with the Fractional laser (cost is $1000 for the entire face, but usualy three treatments are required for moderate scarring).
Lactic Acid peels are affordable and gave me positive results when I used them regularly. I'm thinking of going back to those because of the costs associated with the other treatments.
I should mention that I am 40 and have had cystic acne my entire life and will continue to do so. As you age and loose the fat in your face acne scarring looks even worse. So the best way to deal with scarring is find the best dermatologist when you are young and do whatever it takes to prevent the breakouts to begin with. I know that is easier said then done. I have tried accutane (didn't work), topicals, and antibiotics. The best solution for preventing breakouts for me has been antibiotics in combination with Tazorac cream and clinagel (daytime use). Good luck to everyone!

I had laser resurgacing with CO2 in my face. I was terry after becuase the inflamation and rednes. i did in Novemeber 2001 and still january I has inflamamtion and rednes. but worked really good. It was amazing tmy skin, I was so proud that did not need any make up. i am 42 years old and still people in US say that I look like 23 years old. Its been 5 years ago that I am looking foward to repited. I am Spanish but Europena background Spanin and France. So i do recommend highly for this types of skin.
However I heard that Asian and black skin should not use it,or who ists been long treated for acne using specific element that the treatment normally uses for Acne. So be aware of this.
Thank you for looking.

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I had 2 treatments with CO2 laser with a cosmetic surgeon about 5 years ago now. Fortunately with time and age things are not so bad but it was a big waste of money and even the doctor was disappointed and said I was 5-10% better. To make matters worse the precedure was incredibly painful, comparable to childbirth, and the smell of my own burning flesh throughout is something I wish I could forget. Also, while healing my skin broke out terribly since it had to be scraped and coated twice a day with vasoline. yuk!

I also went to Celibre and quoted me about $5,000 for six treatments. I'm going for the acne scars I have on my back. Can anyone give me any feedback from this people? It's kinda pricey and I don't want to spend all of this money on this treatment if it doesn't work. I'm willing to see a dermatologist but don't know where to begin. Does anyone know of a good dermatologist in the Torrance, CA area?

I have acne scarring on my cheeks and have been going back and forth as to whether or not I should pay the $4,000 and get the laser procedure done. However I read about a procedure called cryotherpy today and was wondering if anyone has tried it or heard anything about it. I googled it and it said that it's typically used for warts and lesions, plus it didn't mention anything at all about one of it's uses being for acne scar removal so I don't know what to think. Like all of you though I constantly feel self-concious around other people and hate being in bright light. I'm sick of living life like this!

First and foremost, if you get any of these treatments DO NOT PICK ANY OF THE CRUSTING OR YOU WILL SCAR. They dont tell you that you can go temp insane from the look and feel of the recovery. And that you can come out looking much worse then you went in. I have suffered from acne since I was 13 and will probably have it for the rest of my life(judging from my family). The key is to get to know your own skin and keep it balanced. For all of you whom these procedures have worked for, Wounderful, and for the rest of us who are overwhelmed with frustration about this awful scarring we have brought on ourselves, lets just get on with our lives.
Things that have worked for me.
Proactiv solution
Avita(retna a in a creamy vehicle)
Healthy eating and excercise
monthly microderm(when can afford it)
(notice dernatologist not on list)

I figured out the best way to remove acne not scars but acne by studying acne treatments online for hours and hours and figuring the TRUE FACTS, go to a cvs store or any other similar store and buy lubriderm daily mostuirizer with SPF 15 which is a sun blocker and also the neutrogena ON THE SPOT cream which contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide and last which is best to use for life even when acne is gone is CETAPHIL gentle cleanser which is great and feels really good when applied.
Before i explain the process i want to tell it only takes 2 weeks maximum but for me it only took 3 days and my skin cleared up to the maximum and man i had pretty bad acne and was DEPRESSED and never went out to enjoy myself with confidence. well ok now the procedure is simple, its better to wash your face while taking a shower with warm water and wash face 2 times with CETAPHIL cleanser and rub acne gently not roughly and each time rub cream for more then a minute arond all the face.
After your done dry your face not rubbing but gently tabbing on your face and make sure towel be clean. After your done go to a mirror and and apply four pumps of LUBRIDERM lotion and apply to forehead down to your eye level, then apply four more pumps of lotion and rub from eye level and down to you chin or neck if acne appears there, the lotion must be rubbed on your face gently for almost 3 minutes straight or until the cream absorbs, your face will be really shiny and a little more red then usual for 10 minutes after.
Then finally apply the ON THE SPOT CREAM and apply on the parts where acne appears. The cream stays white on your face for like 10 minutes then vanishs. and your repeat this whole procedure 2-3 times a day but i recommend 3 times a day.
All the creams say recommended by dermatalagist, i plan exposing this technique to alot of people and want to help people with this problem because i SUFFERED alot from it but now i regained my confidence and out what i like doing which is meeting people.HERE ARE SOME VERY HELPFUL THINGS TO KNOW.

I had CO2 laser(full face) on 8/2/06. I had mostly shallow rolling acne scars on my cheeks. For about a week, I looked very red, swollen, and bruised. It is now 10 days since the proceedure. My skin looks noticeably better. My doctor told me that it takes a few months for the redness to go away. It does itch while it is healing, but Benedryl helps. One of the things that really helped me was to meet one of the physician's patients who had been through this in the past. I saw before and after pictures. She has been thrilled with her results. I couldnt even tell that she had ever had acne scars. I have a wonderful doctor who was honest and took a lot of time with me to answer all of my questions. I would highly recommend Dr.Eric Egosy, in Clearwater, Florida. He is fantastic.
