I had full face CO2 3 months ago. Because I had cystic acne when I was in my twenties, I had some pretty bad acne scars. I had very low self esteem. I hated to look at myself in the mirror. I had been to several plastic surgeons for consultations, but in the end I was always deterred by the cost. This year, I decided to go through with the surgery despite the hefty price tag because I figured I am worth it. I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. No, my scars are not all gone, but they have improved enough so that I have much more confidence in my appearance which is reflected in my interactions with people. I used to avoid making eye contact with people and I would never initiate a conversation with anyone. I always felt "ugly".
If you are considering having the surgery, make sure you are prepared for it. It is a lot to go through. I thought I was prepared, but I really wasn't. You must be meticulous about the aftercare and follow all the dr's instructions to the letter. I had quite a bit of redness for almost 2 months. I have a little hyperpigmentation because I have dark hair and eyes with slight olive skin tone. The discoloration that I do have in a few small areas is not noticeable to others, only to me. Nothing to complain about though and it should go away. I was skeptical that my skin would continue to improve for six months following the surgery, but so far that has been my experience. I am still seeing changes and it has been 3 months. Also, you must be very careful about exposure to the sun. You should be anyway, but you really cannot be in the sun without some major sunblock. This surgery really is making a committment to the way you take care of your skin. Everything from a skin care regime to sun protection is extremely important. You don't want to spend all that money on surgery and then go out in the sun and get burned. You really have to be careful.
Am I glad I did it? YES! The surgery not only changed my outside, but the inside as well and THAT is really what is important! I hope this helps someone. I read these message boards all the time when I was trying to decide to go through with the surgery and I honestly didn't know what to think. One good thing my surgeon did was he introduced me to another patient who had just undergone the same surgery. Meeting her and talking to her was a huge help in making my decision. Ask you surgeon if you could talk with one of his/her patients.
Good luck!
