The best moisturizer by a country mile. So gentle.

All these 'new' 'innovative' products for sale simply do more harm than good. i.e. shampoos which eradicate all essential oils in your hair. Keep it simple people, let the body do its work.

I recommend reading these pages:

[link removed] is a huge wealth of information about acne and rosacea here, changed my life reading about diet, PH, GI index, irritation etc. I even used there product for about 8 months, it really helped my skin, however ive switched to BP to get the final clearance complete.

Pros

  • Incredibly Versatile.
  • DO NOT USE all these other moisturizers claiming perfection, the trick is keeping nutrients inside the skin.
  • I also use for my hair after showers, has cured my mild dandruff.

Cons

  • Can be a little greasy if too much is applied, however, easily counteracted by wiping off, or using less.
  • moderate
  • for about a year
  • $ 0.5
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I used to never have problems with dry skin. Like ever. Then last year, my skin started getting extremely dry and flaky. Any moisturizer that I have tried will not keep the dry skin away, by itself.

I decided to try the jojoba oil, and it is the one thing that works for my dry skin. I've heard that some people use jojoba oil as a moisturizer by itself, but I didn't have much success with just that. But adding in a few drops to whatever moisturizer I'm using (usually Cetaphil) makes a huge difference. I still get a few flakes here and there, but nothing like my skin would be like if I didn't use jojoba oil.

It does make your skin a little shiny looking if you use a lot, but that doesn't bother me. I'd prefer slightly shiny skin over very flaky skin. I can't tell exactly if it helps out with my acne in any way, but it doesn't make it worse in any case.

And like a lot of people have mentioned, it does make a pretty good lip balm as well.

Pros

  • Helps out a lot with dry skin
  • Doesn't break me out

Cons

  • Can make your face look shiny
  • moderate
  • for about a year
  • $ 14.75
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I bought this product after reading endless pages of reviews on this website. Whenever i came across someone who said "it made me breakout" I would tell myself that they must be doing something else that made them breakout, because this stuff isn't supposed to do that. So here is what happened with me:

I have skin I would classify as dry, super sensitive, and acne prone. The only thing that ever kept my face clear was differin gel (retin-a) but my insurance stopped covering it and it costs me $200 a tube now. So I switched back to clean and clear salicyclic acid, which was working okay but I still had mild-to-moderate breakouts (I didn't do BP because my skin reacts horribly with it).

Then I discovered dessert essence. I purchased tea tree oil (kinder to skin) and diluted it down to 5%, and purchased 100% pure jojoba oil. I would use the oil morning and night, sometimes mixed with a little tea tree oil, and was loving it. However, my breakouts went from mild/moderate to moderate/severe, which I figured was of course the purging period.

Well after about a month and a half, I bit the bullet and purchased differin again. It makes my skin super dry and sensitive, so I continued to use the jojoba oil as my moisturizer.

My acne slightly cleared up again, but never back to where I wanted it.

Well one weekend I went to visit my parents and accidentally left both the differin and jojoba oil at their house. I had to go without for a week, so I used my tea tree oil mixed into my old moisturizing cream and surprise, my skin ENTIRELY cleared up.

The moral of the story? Jojoba oil made my skin far worse than ever before, particularly when it comes to those large red pimples with giant white heads in them that are impossible to hide. I have never had more than one at a time previously and would have like 7 or 8 at a time with the oil.

I now use the dessert essence thoroughly clean face line and my dryness, sensitivity, and acne a

Pros

  • Perfectly balanced my skin's moisture
  • Moisturizes dry hair
  • Softens hands and cuticles
  • Absorbs in and doesn't feel greasy

Cons

  • Made me breakout worse than EVER before
  • moderate
  • for a few months
  • $ 8
  • I do not recommend using this treatment.

My forehead and nose get pretty oily but the rest of my face - dry and flaky. I currently use Clinique's Dramatically Lotion, although overall it does a good job, it never really did the job in keeping some of the flakes away. Jojoba oil is the only product I have used that has really helped to "get rid" of this issue. I mix about 2-3 drops in with the moisturizer, and I no longer suffer through flaking skin.

I also use it once-twice a week on my legs after I exfoliate them. Has given me much smoother, sexier feeling legs :)

Pros

  • Gets rid of flakiness that many, many moisturizers fail to succeed at doing
  • Reduces redness
  • Has somewhat reduced appearance of laugh lines on my face

Cons

  • If you are travelling, be careful on how you package this. I recently went down to Texas, arrived and the bottle was pierced and had leaked. Luckily I double plastic bagged it so didn't get all over my clothes. I don't travel much at all - so as much as I want to blame the people who handle the luggage - I could've probably packaged it up better.
  • Can give an oily appearance, so I suggest using it at night! (If you use it in the morning, suggest just using a single drop)
  • moderate
  • for a few months
  • $ 30
  • I recommend using this treatment.

This is a multi purpose miracle oil! I used it for face, body, hair, scalp and cuticles. Effective on every part mentioned.

Face - I have acne on my forehead and very oil skin. After reading the reviews of the "purging stage", I would not dare to use too much of the oil on my skin. So I pat two drop on my face on the first day - it gets absorbs and my face is not greasy. On the second day, I pat 3 drops and it gets absorbs! It may seem a little oily after application, but it gets absorbed quickly and somehow, my face is not as oily after some time, as compared to when I use no moisturiser or no jojoba oil. I guess the tip from me is not to use too much and jus PAT, and not to rub in the oil. Now, I pat about 3 drops on top of my day moisturiser and about 5 drops for the night.

I am using Dan's regimen to save my face from acne, and I think jojoba oil by itself would not cure acne. It just helps the flaking and the regulation of oil production.

Hair - After applying a thin layer to my hair, it felt like my hair when I was a child. No damaged feeling from all the colouring, perming, straightening. Try it! Its really good! Much better than olive oil because I feel jojoba oil gets abosrbed and hair feels soft and olive oil just stays on the hair and feels oily.

Cuticles - I have very dry cuticles and also a very bad habit of peeling my dried cuticles. After rubbing the oil onto my cuticles, all the dry cuticles disappear! Its v convenient too, I will rub the oil onto my cuticles before applying it to my hair. No wastage. :D

My! Why haven I discovered this oil in the past! Try it! If you are worried, start with a little on the face. Even if it does not work for the face, it will for the hair and cuticles.

It will definitely be a staple on my skincare regime. Think of all the $ saved on hair serum and skin moisturisers and cuticle cream. Best part is, it works! :)

Pros

  • Multi-purpose
  • Effective
  • Natural

Cons

  • None
  • moderate
  • for about a week
  • $ 30
  • I recommend using this treatment.

While trying to get rid of my acne, my skin became very dry and flaky. No moisturizers really worked, they made it a little better but burned and skin remained flaky. Now i add about 4-5 drops of jojoba oil to my moisturizer and my flakes were gone immediately. Also I put some on my finger and then smear it on my lips and brush my lips with a tooth brush to ex foliate. After i re apply to my lips and it makes them extremely smooth by the next morning. i'd recommend doing this at night because it gives your skin a oily complex for a little while.

Pros

  • stops flakes
  • makes skin smooth
  • helps lips

Cons

  • makes skin oily
  • moderate
  • for a day or two
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I used jojoba oil last year by mixing it with my facial lotion and it gave me wonderful results but I always look overly greasy.

I watched a video online from a nutritionist who also used jojoba oil but applied it differently. She made her face slightly damp then poured about 6+ drops into the palms of her hands and rubbed them together, then applied the oil to her damp face. I tried this and saw amazing results immediately!

When doing this my skin purged all of the nasty junk for 2 weeks. It was really quite embarrassing since my job involves working with the public and I could just feel them staring at my skin as if I don't wash my face... I am on my 3rd week now and have noticed my skin tone is more even and my scabs fell off in a couple days from the pimples I picked at. Now I feel confident going to work and actually feel clean!

My regime is as follows:

1. Once a week (Sunday) I put Queen Helenes Mint Julepe masque on for 15min, then wash off with a damp wash cloth.

2. Once a week (Wednesday) I give my face a nice scrub with St. Ive's Apricot Scrub.

3. Every morning and evening before bed I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser and leave my face slightly damp from warm water. I then apply the jojoba oil to my face. Within 10min you will see your skin just glowing and looking more even, its great! I think the water helps the oil absorb into the skin easier, that is my guess.

I am hoping I don't jinx it but so far I am having excellent results and am finally acne free with only some red marks left! I hope this continues because I am tired of trying new things!

Good Luck Everyone!

Pros

  • reduces redness
  • helps scabs fall off quicker
  • purges your pores
  • softens and evens out skin tone
  • reduces facial oil
  • gives skin a nice glow

Cons

  • greasy for the first 30min
  • initial 2+ week pore purge = 2 weeks of facial embarrassment.
  • moderate
  • for a few weeks
  • $ 6.5
  • I recommend using this treatment.

This stuff is fantastic. I started the regimen using loads of Benzoyl Peroxide because I thought my skin could handle it - when the flaking and dryness got unbearable I bought a bottle of Jojoba oil and it works miracles. I use it generously before I go to bed, because using too much in the morning makes your skin really shiny.

Also I think it may be helping to fade my red marks, which may be due to its high levels of Vitamin E. However I can't be certain about that, because i've also started taking zinc supplements.

All in all a great product, highly recommended!

Pros

  • Fantastic moisturiser
  • A small amount goes a long way
  • Calms flaking and dryness

Cons

  • Leaves your skin looking shiny
  • moderate
  • for about a month
  • $ 15
  • I recommend using this treatment.
