Well let's just say that this is the best acne medication that I've ever been on. I've been on every acne med from oral antibiotics to retin-a-micro to benzoyl peroxide, you name it, and I've been on it. I had oily skin that was prone to numerous blackheads and especially whiteheads. I'd exfoliate and drink water and nothing helped until I started taking this miracle pill. My oil glands shrunk completely and breakouts were kept to a minimum. However, I've been off the pill for a week now (6 month period is over) and I've been noticing more breakouts coming back. Now hopefully these breakouts are due to lack of sleep and stress but I'm gettin worried. My skin is not oily still but I have a few breakouts right now (1 on my forhead, 3 on each side of my chin and 1 on my cheek). I'm a little bit worried about the possibility of returning acne because when I was on the pill I had beautiful skin- no oil and no breakouts. There were side effects: severely dry eyes and lips and dry skin occasionally and some fatigue. I was a little more irritable too. I never had cystic acne but I had moderate acne breakouts and this pill did wonders. Let's just hope that the acne blues aren't going to return.

Accutane completely cleared my acne everywhere on my body. As far as the side affects go there should not be any for sure side affects for anyone because everyone is different. Personally i only experienced dryness on my skin and lips. However, some people are bist against accutane because it caused them joint difficulty an depression. You have to take the chance for youself because if you are one of the lucky ones who doesn't experience the severe side affects, accutane can really chagne your life. Also, as for acne coming back while u are off accutane, that is also different for everyone. Some people, their acne will come back in a few months while other have clear skin for several years

Accutane has been close to being pulled from the market for the side effects. There have been many t.v. and print media "exposes" and coverage on this somewhat controversial product. Any dermatologist who isn't using it as a last resort is not thinking of your health first. It is a wonderful medication IF you don't get any of the side effects. It affected my joints almost immediately, I had to stop running track and abandon a state-championship-bound season as an individual, but it does work like a charm.

Im due to start on accutane next week. I have fairly bad acne on my face which is causing me red scarring. I also have really oily face, neck and chest. Im nearly 17, and have already been on 2 sets of tablets and zineryt which didn't do me any favours. I hope accutane will help my acne go, although reading all these comments, Im now concerned about all the possible side effects such as hair increase and ageing of skin! Any suggestions of how to minimise the side effects while on the pills????

hi, i'm 15yrs old and i have pretty bad acne and some nasty scars aswell. i've tried 2 different perscription drugs from the dermatologest that did jacksh*t, i've tried eating lots of fruits n vegetables and drinking 10 bottles of water a day, nuthing again...i'm currently on pro active 3-step acne remover, it kind of controls it but still is getting worse and i take vitamin tablets and zinc tablets every night to help the healing process, yet it still keeps coming, i've had enough of this sh*t, i wonna go on accutane and i dont care about the side effects. i know 2 friends who went on accutane and they had really really bad acne, 1-2 years later (today) their skins looks better than mine! with not a pimple on their face and hav gotten time for their scars to heal, i think this is the ideal solution. if i do go on it i will just have to use an oil free moisturizer and chapstick everyday (as i do already) and the moisturizer i am using now has salicylic acid which is SUPPOSED to be an acne fighting thing aswell, but.....still does nuthing. my skin is very oily and everytime i wash my face, 1 hour later my skin is really oily again, so i think its just the amount of oil production i have that is the major cause of it, health wize i should be 100%. so i'm gonna try accutane

I have had severe acne for 5 years. Each year it got a little bit worse. I used many prescription acne mediacations, both topical and oral. I have been on Acutane for 23 days now, and the results are amazing! My skin started to clear up within 3 days. The acne is still bad but overall, my face is clearing up a lot.
