Okay so here's my acne story. I started suffering from severe acne during my freshman year in highschool during volleyball season. I remember being incredibly embarrassed all of the time. So, I went to the doctor and she put me on dynacin, which totally clearned it up. Throughout my sophomore year, I was good to go until the end of the year when it started getting a lot worse. So, during that time up until about midway through my junior year I was on accutane. It was fantasic, except for the fact that my lips were HORRIBLE (I remember them hurting a lot in addition to my nose bleeds). I didn't care though, it was a lot better in my opinion than being covered in acne. Six weeks after I was on accutane I was acne-free. But after six weeks, they started to come back the same as before (mid way through my senior year). I was really angry because I wanted to have clear skin for graduation, etc. but so much for that. Anyway, so then I tried going through the many different acne medications, but nothing has worked. Now it is the summer before I start college and I am sitting here with horrible acne. I am going to start accutane again in about 3 weeks. I really wanted my skin to be clear for college, but it looks like I'll have chapped lips for awhile now..I really hope it works for good this time. Please reply to my message! I need some feedback and encouragement, this sucks =/.

Yea this product will dry you out like crazy but it works very well especially for cystic acne which i had. But id did not clear up the cystic acne on my ass at all. I dont know why it dosnt work for your ass. And when you go off of it, you will still get acne nowhere near the acne you had before. THeyr gona be small but its worth it. I DID FIND A WAY TO STOP MY ACNE FOR ABOUT A WEEK, EVERY WEEK. Since i live in FLORIDA, the beach is not very far and i can say that this worked 100% for me. I GO TO THE BEACH, SUBMERGE MY FACE IN THE OCEAN WATER( SALT WATER) and WALK AROUND AND GET A TAN ON MY FACE. This stops my acne for about a week really well. Worked every time. But you have to go to the beach every weekend to stop this which is a bummer but its worth it. I guess the ocean water since it is salty, dries out, cleans, etc and gets cured w/ a sun tan which stops acne. Im not sure if this works for everyone, but it DOES work 100% for me. Sometimes it will be like half a week where no acne shows up, then they come again, or sometimes its the hole week. ALSO i FOUND that SHAVING gives me acne as well. I always used to do clean shaves everyday or other day. I found out to do a clean shave about once a week. And on those days when i get a lot of hair, i just trim it. I ALSO use DEAD SEA MASKS, as well as washing my face w/ SOAP.

I first took accutane when i was 16. I didn't have many bad side effects, only dry skin and chapped lips, no flare ups at all. But they were easily managed with moisteriser. I was totally cleared in about six months. I was fine for about three years, and then it slowly came back. I went on it again, and again the same effect. It is now another three years latter, and my acne has started coming back. So here I go, back on accutane for a third time. I'm now 23. I am hoping it will be third time lucky, and my face will stay clear. If it doesn't after that, I'm just going to give up and accept that I'm meant to have acne. Maybe as I get older, my oil glands will stop producing too much oil. I'm not sure, because I know people who are like 40 and still have acne. But I guess If accutane doesn't work this time, I'll just have to accept my fate. Here hoping it will be third and final time!

WOW! Well.. I tried accutane two years ago, it was very helpful, it really did clear my skin. The only problem were the side effects and few months after they came back, although a lot less severe. Just recently I was thinking of going back to it, but my Dr. will no longer recommend it and therefore can't get insurance to cover it. I guess its a good thing since having accutane can really mess with your body. I was thinking about surgery just recently, but had no clue on which to do. NOw Tommy, from San Jose, CA suggest Alpha Lipoic Acid , but I've never heard of it. Can someone else who has taken it give me feedback? Sometimes I just dont know what to do!!! I am currently putting on MURAD topical antibiotic gel, but gives very mild results and other times it comes back and worst of all it cost $70 dollars a month. I'm actually thinking of cancelling the subscription tomorrow (7/5/05), such a waste :(
