| Pros: | Clears it up |
| Cons: | Dry stuff as usual and really red skin |
| Bottom Line: | i am completely glad i went on accutane and recommend it to all others. it worked after about a month on it and havent had acne in 4 months. i am 18 years old and drink pretty heavily at least 3 times a week. i was worried at first about the drinking but it never gave my liver a problem. there was a week where i drank at least 10 shots a night and then got a blood test the following day and everything was fine. not recommending it but i wouldn't worry too much about the drinking |

| Pros: | Much less oil after 2 days of treatment |
| Cons: | Slow healing of existing acne, sensitivity to sun, dry chapped lips, sensitive skin, much worse acne than before beginning treatment |
| Bottom Line: | Ive been taking accutane for 2 months now and acne on face is about 2 to 3 times worse than it was before starting treatment, mostly becuase i had alot of acne below the skin before starting treatment so hopefully my breakouts over the past 2 months is the acne coming to the surface, and the fact that accutane slows down the reproduction/healing of skin makes the acne redmarks look worse, hoping to clear up this month or next which is the time most people do. I am currently on 60 mgs a day up to 80 in a few days, i do weigh 190lbs though. |

| Pros: | Less oil (first time in my life!)
Initial breakout not bad with spot treatment.
Less acne on face, chest, and back. |
| Cons: | Dry, dry, dry lips.
Sensitive and dry skin.
Feeling like it's prohibition all over again. |
| Bottom Line: | I have been on accutane for one month now and I LOVE it!
I have tried Proactive, Murad, Clinique, Mary Kay, along with every face wash available at Walmart/Target/Dillards/Walgreens/Sephora/ and all else (i.e. Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Dove, Noxzema, and on and on). Like those of you reading this NONE OF IT EVER WORKED.
I have suffered from moderate-severe acne for the better part of my life and this is it. Get on accutane if nothing else works.
My advice:
Drink a lot of water.
Lips: Dr. Dan's Cortibalm, Aquaphor (on all my dry spots and don't forget to put it in your nose at night to avoid nosebleeds), Chapstick Medicated lip balm.
Face: I use a mixture of JOJOBA AND SQUALENE OIL! It's all natural, soaks into your skin, & feels great. I wear with/without makeup & apply it every time I wash my face. It immediately relives the tightness that dry skin causes. I also massage it onto my lips. I swear by this mixture (& it is credited with improving scars!)

| Pros: | no oily skin, less breakouts, less oily hair (if that was an issue to begin with), lasts even after finished with your trial |
| Cons: | chapped lips, drys out all of you (not just your face) |
| Bottom Line: | I loved it. I put some moisturizer on my legs and arms to keep them from drying out. My skin was at least 75% better. I still broke out during my period but nothing as close to as bad as before. Even after I stopped taking the pills and it was washed out of my system a month later, my skin was NOTHING as bad as it had been before. Unfortunately, I went for a second time and it didn't seem to work as well, but the first time was absolutely amazing. |

| Pros: | Reduces Oil Production Drastically (e.g., no more oily/shiny face); Takes Time But Eventually Clears Acne; Easy to Take & Effective; Generic = Affordable with Insurance |
| Cons: | Dry Face, Body, Eyes, [inside of] Nose; Chapped Lips; IPledge if Female [hassle]; Makes You Tired & Leaves You With "Cloudy Brain" Feeling. Leaves Body Kinda Achy. |
| Bottom Line: | Despite the Minor Side Effects, it is Definitely Worth Trying. I am on my 7th & Last Month & I haven't broken out in a week. It took the full 6 months to finally see the results I was looking for. Definitely try if nothing else works. Side effects are manageable. |

| Pros: | Clears cysts, white heads, blind zits. Confidence booster! |
| Cons: | DRY DRY SKIN/ LIPS / INSIDE NOSE, fatigue, lower back pain, slight moodiness |
| Bottom Line: | This medicine will clear your skin! I had acne for five years, and I have been on all medications. This includes: proactiv, clearasil, all of the "cylines", differin, etc. NOTHING WORKED. Accutane was not an "overnight" drug, for me anyway. At first it got BAD, but then after month three, I saw improvment. In month four, I saw a vast clearing (about 75% clear, with red marks) By month five I had not one zit/cyst on my face or back. Two weeks post accutane and I still don't have anything. The key is to be PATIENT and don't stress over the intial break out. Also, the affordability depends on your insurance carrier, but I paid mine w/out insurance. But I also ordered my accutane (brand name) through a canadian pharmacy online. It cost me only 150 a month! I would highly suggest looking into canadian drugs, if you are without insurance. It came in the real package and all. |

| Pros: | none as of now |
| Cons: | chapped lips, corners of mouth cut, dry nose, intense break outs on face and back of neck, minor nose bleed, mood swing due to seesaw acne effect |
| Bottom Line: | I never had acne until my first year of college. Once it got really intense I tried everything from proactive, to differen, to tetracycline. Now I'm on accutane. So far the drug has shown no improvements. If any thing my acne is become worse than it was. I have been on the pill for about 1 1/2 months and am taking 50mg as of now. Doctors say it could take up to 3 months to work or may not even work at all, I hope I'm not one of these people. I cant remember the last time I had clear skin or felt good about my self. ACNE SUCKS! As acne is prevelent to my family, my 2 sisters and brother have used the drug and recieved amazing results. When will I? |

| Pros: | Clear Skin, No More Oil, gives self-esteem, lesser makeup |
| Cons: | Dry lips, Mood Swings, Blur vision, Thining Of Hair While Shower, Body Aches, |
| Bottom Line: | I would recommend this anyone with medical insurance that has bad acne. It works really well but it is a gamble.

| Pros: | clears up skin |
| Cons: | dry lips an nose primarily. Dry arms, ears, and very sensitive skin. |
| Bottom Line: | I have been suffering from cystic acne for 9 years and have tried everything you can imagine including proactiv and laser/light treatments. This is the only medication that I can say truly worked. It has given me my life back and I encourage everyone who has cystic acne to consider using this drug. |
