I tried honey as a cleanser, toothpaste and shampoo for 2 months, but eventually it made the acne on my back worse. I think this is because it is sticky and difficult to remove from the skin, as well as interfering with the ph and sugar content on the surface of the skin. It also inflamed my gums when I used it as toothpaste (it is really sugar)! However I have found it excellent for open wounds (not acne) to prevent scarring.

I found out honey is the best to clear your acne and give you clear complexion. I use manuka honey which is raw honey.

The egg mask is better than honey which didn't help mi so much, but it didn't get worse your skin problems. Always worth try.

I'm not sure how much it affected my troublesome acne(probably a little, but I also used other products that day), but it definitely gave me exceedingly smooth skin. It calmed my complexion as well...which is ALWAYS a good thing. I've been using a moisturizer with some honey in it for months. It's very nice. (Burt's Bees Beeswax Day Creme)

I just tried a honey mask last night for the first time. I found that it is EXCELLENT as cleaning out my pores. The is probably because it absorbs moisture, but at any rate, it did the trick. I also noticed that my acne seemed to calm down after I used it. I'm quite pleased and plan to keep using it :)

Don't really know if it helps reduce or calm spots but it makes your skin really soft.

I found this little tip out in a magazine. You are supposed to put on a dab of (home-mixed) salt water on all your zits, and then let it dry for like ten minutes, after that you put dab honey on your face. I think it works fairly well, and considering the natural product I doubt it would hurt anyone.

I disagree. I am a licensed esthetician and I have used honey for years! Honey is a humectant (which draws in moisture) and it has antibacterial qualities. It is antibacterial because of the high sugar content. You don't have to refridgerate it...anything that gets in it dies (including bacteria!). I use honey on just about everything. My face, in my bathwater, and in my tea! On clean skin, warm up (warm...not hot!) a little bit of honey. Leave it on for 30 mins. while you're watching tv or reading. Rinse and moisturise! For about the first 2-3 weeks you'll want to use it once a day. After that, twice a week. I also like to add cinnamon (may or may not have acne reducing properties...but it makes it taste good! lol). Enjoy!
