| Pros | -inexpensive -moisturizing -natural |
|---|---|
| Cons | -sticky -itchy -redness after application |
| Bottom line | I can honestly say that honey masks are beneficial. They take the pain out of cystic pimples better than anything else I've tried. They remove blackheads better than anything else I've tried. Also, my skin is super soft after a honey mask. I mix a little cinnamon and lemon juice to mine. Adding a liquid makes it easier to apply. Cranberry juice works well, too. I like to paint it on with a soft make up brush. It stings a bit, even without the lemon, and can get pretty itchy. I usually leave mine on for 10-15 minutes. Any longer than that and my face is as red as a beet. (The redness does seem to dissipate within a few hours.) |

| Pros | -lightens scars -kills bacteria -reduces swelling in infected acne -moisturizes skin -holistic & natural, which is better than foreign chemicals |
|---|---|
| Cons | -I personally hate the smell of honey! (LOL) -It can be a mess (I just put my hair in a ponytail and use hairspray to pull back fly-aways and baby hairs) -lightens skin (if you have a tan, beware! lol) |
| Bottom line | I introduced myself to the 'honey mask' in a gas station! In the gas station they provide many things to put in your coffee/tea, including ~Sugar in the Raw, HONEY, and lemon juice~ and I decided to take a couple and mix them together when I got home. I left the mask of for a half-hour, and when I took it off I was surprised at the reduced swelling! BOTTOM LINE- this won't work for everyone, because it depends on the PH balance in your skin. If you have sensitive skin, the lemon juice probably isn't for you, but the honey is perfectly fine. Try it, anyways, and see how it works! |

| Pros | anitmicrobial, pulls out dirt and debris with the stickyness. |
|---|---|
| Cons | can make a mess, but do it in the tub or shower. or go buy some gauze and put it over the area covered in honey. |
| Bottom line | It works. I am an esthetician and a great thing to add to the honey to make a thicker mask is organic apple, blend in a blender, and some cinnamon, whole face 2tbsp. added. mix and apply 15-20 min. don't keep leftover so use small apples, also you can add a few drops of tea tree oil to it. To jen from other comment-you cannot use raw honey it must be filtered and preferably organic. raw honey can contain too many things that irritate your skin, even particles from the bees. so try it again with bottled honey from your grocery store but get organic. hope it helps. |

| Pros | Clears up red spots within a few days of use. Relieves a pimple after you have popped it |
|---|---|
| Cons | Sticky. Drizzles. Gets in your hair if you use it at night |
| Bottom line | I started using honey as a spot treatment a few weeks ago on my red spots and on zits before and after I have popped them. I know popping zits is a big no no, but if you're like me and can't really resist, than applying honey on the spot afterwards helps relieve redness. I've found that when I put honey on a what looks to be an emerging pimple, it will turn into a white head. I leave the honey on my acne marks/red spots for a couple hours or almost a whole day If I don't have plans/lazy sunday/whenever I'm free. Leaving it on the spots for a couple hours relieves the redness fairly quickly-within 3-5 days for me. If you can't leave it on all day, try all night, that is helpful too!! For ladies/gents with long hair you might want to put your hair up if you're going to apply it at night though! I've woken up with a sticky mess of locks a few times :( I would definitely start using honey as a treatment for less severe cases of acne! It's extremely beneficial and not harsh on my skin like prescription brands. |

| Pros | Moisturized well and tasted yummy!!! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Caused break outs and made my skin more oily than usual. |
| Bottom line | After my skin cleared up from Dan's regimen I decided I would try the honey mask for "Radiant" skin. I used local honey that was raw and unfiltered. Unfortunately it caused my oily skin to break out, but everyone's skin is different so who's to say it wont work for others! |

| Bottom line | I haven't tried this yet, but i notice ALOT of reviews are complaining about the honey dripping when it warms up to body temperature. The simple fix is to put a piece of single ply, cheap toilet paper over after you apply the honey. I've done this with other homemade masks and it works great. Yes, you will look stupid, but you'll be able to DO things, instead of just lying still. I would say thing is best if you are just treating sections of your face (like the forehead or individual bumps), but you can do your whole face, too. |

| Pros | gentle on skin, removes redness, softens skin, reduces swelling, no harsh chemicals. doesn't leave skin oily, flaky, or dry patches. |
|---|---|
| Cons | None |
| Bottom line | my dd is the sufferer in our family, we have tried numerous OTC w/various results. mostly with no results. after using plain honey the first time I could see a marked difference in her skin, the redness was minimal, the infection would be drawn out. now its used twice a day morning (5-15 mins) night (15-30 mins). twice a wk I mix a bit of sugar in with the honey for her arms and back, once a wk she does a honey/sugar scrub (2 T honey 2 T sugar- this will be a thick scrub but will melt with body temp) on her face, back, arms, chest. within the next two weeks I am going to do a honey/salt scrub (2 T honey 1/2 tsp salt) for her shoulders/back IF the bumps comes back. so far we both are well pleased with using the honey treatment. ALL SCRUBS ARE DONE USING A GENTLE PRESSURE NOT HARD SCRUBBING. |
