Not all products work for everyone. I have used many otc products, proactiv, and DKs regimen (3 years). Ive stopped using DKs regimen for five months and hopefully this pans out.

Pros

  • I havent been using this long only a a day or two. I noticed it decreased the oiliness on my skin. It dried pimples that were formed.

Cons

  • A bit pricey, wish it was in a foam container.
  • moderate
  • for a day or two
  • $ 12.99
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I had very high hopes for Hibiclens, but after using it consistently for 2-3 weeks, it has managed to make my acne worse. I have cystic acne on my lower cheeks and it didn't improve it at all. But now I have break outs all over my forehead (previously clear), chin, upper cheeks, and neck.

You know those zits that pop up right at your lip line and hurt and look hideous for weeks? Hibiclens totally got rid of a budding zit I had there. In the future I won't use Hibiclens as an all-over facial cleanser, but if I get a zit on my lipline again I know exactly how to get rid of it: Hibiclens.

Pros

  • Fresh smell
  • Doesn't sting or cause discomfort
  • Eliminated a zit on my lip line

Cons

  • Made my acne worse
  • Drying, but moisturizer can help that
  • moderately severe
  • for a few weeks
  • $ 12
  • I do not recommend using this treatment.

I actually started using Hibiclens because I was in microbiology and learned about how bacteria is killed. Long story short.. I am almost 100% positive I did not have acne vulagaris living in my skin. Using an antimicrobial was the best answer for me. I never had acne and when I first got it I was using BareMinerals when I was 21. I had no idea about popping zits or anything and I was honestly very unhygenic..it was disturbing. I picked my skin A LOT and I just kept spreading the bacteria. Plus, I NEVER washed my makeup brushes..gross I know! It was awful! So, years later..I got better, cleaned my makeup brushes and was not messing with my face but I would still break out...It felt like it lived in my cheeks..

So, I was in microbiology and was like...hmm...wonder if this is Staph or some other type of bacteria.. looked this up and started to use it..within a week the nasty gross cystic acne was a thing of the past. It's been a good 4 months now and I use this on my cheeks and my problem areas..leave it on like 3 minutes and rinse. Viola! I also make sure I exfoliate with my clarasonic, chem peels, and some Vitamin A I got from the UK (.05 LOW) Love this stuff. I can't say enough good things about it because it has honestly been amazing and does exactly what it is intended to do..act as an antimicrobial and KILL!

Pros

  • Cleared cystic acne
  • Clears acne spots after 1 use
  • Controls acne

Cons

  • Need to make sure you exfoliate!
  • Does nothing for blackheads
  • Don't get it near sensitive areas. By mouth and gentle parts of skin by eyes, can cause milia
  • light
  • for a few months
  • $ 8.99
  • I recommend using this treatment.

For me, it's been a miracle option to treat rosacea since I am allergic to Metogel and my skin is highly sensitive and reactive. Hibiclens doesn't irritate my skin and keeps inflamation down.

Pros

  • Excellent for keeping my rosacea under controle. My dermatologist told me to dilute Hibiclens with water 1:1, apply it with a cotton ball or pad, let sit for 3 mins. And rinse off with water, 2x/day.

Cons

  • It can be drying but nothing I can't handle with a good moisturizer.
  • moderately severe
  • for a few months
  • $ 11
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Pros

  • This product does well for cystic acne. It is also good for staph. infections. It helps prevent future break out if used regularly.

Cons

  • Dries out skin. Also, must be extremely careful not to get it in yours eyes because it can cause corneal damage to the eye and even blindness. So, be very careful with this product near eyes. I saw a patient lose their eye due to hibiclens getting in the eye.

I had sever cysts and acne it was hard to even go out of the house some weeks its was so bad. I been to 5 dermatologist and 2 endocrinologists for my sever cysts and acne. I have tried literally every product off the shelf and by prescription including prescription pills gels masks you name it and I have probably tried it. I have even done home remedies vitamin supplements dietary changes ex. Nothing worked!!!This is the only thing that has worked for me in my struggle with cysts and acne. I have never been clear for this long in my entire struggle with acne. This is a miracle for me I was so embarrassed to even walk out of the house. Now I have so much confidence I love my skin for the first time in many many years.

Pros

  • Very gentle on my skin it doesn't over dry it the smell is nice this is literally the only thing that work on my sever cysts and acne. Its a "Miracle" product for me!!!

Cons

  • It's almost a liquid so its very hard not to loose some of it down the drawn when applying it also its hard to lather.
  • severe
  • for a few months
  • $ 10
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I started using this after my friend recommended it. I used it consistently for a few weeks. It stopped the break outs and gradually reduced the current break out appearance. It dries out your skin and makes it flaky so using a good moisturizer would be a good idea. In my opinion its too harsh to use on mild acne on a daily basis. If you are someone who has really severe or cystic acne this is a great product because it really does kill bacteria. Around finals my skin went from tolerable to unbearable over night. It was red and painful. After a couple days of using this it helped reduce it tremendously. If you have mild to moderate acne this would be to treat break outs on those bad days for sure as a go to wash. But if your acne is severe i recommend it for frequent use.

Pros

  • Reduced redness
  • Prevented new break outs at first
  • Clean Feeling!

Cons

  • Dries out skin
  • inconsistent
  • moderate
  • for a few weeks
  • $ 10
  • I recommend using this treatment.

If you have not had any luck with acne medicines (with sal. acid etc.), give Hibiclens a try. (Read the directions.) Good luck.

Pros

  • I have suffered from adult acne for around twenty-five years. I have had to use acne medicine daily to keep the acne away. Prior to going in for surgery on my neck, I started cleansing with Hibiclens. I kept on cleansing my lower face and neck with Hibiclens post-surgery because of open wounds and swollenness. After about a week, I realized that my cystic acne was gone -- without daily acne medicine. (It would always return when I stopped the acne medicine.)

Cons

[not submitted]
  • moderately severe
  • for a few weeks
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Try this product! I have only been using it for a week and have noticed dramatic results. My brother had a staph infection and used hibiclens. I saw the bottle sitting on his bathroom counter and thought hey, I bet you could use this for acne too! After I found the rave reviews, I tried it and am so glad I did! Nothing else has worked as well or as fast for me!

Pros

  • Leaves skin feeling clean, dries out and heals existing pimples, prevents new acne

Cons

  • Does not lather, not as effective for clearing blackheads
  • moderate
  • for about a week
  • $ 10
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I am 67 and have suffered from adult acne since my teens. (I had the worst case the doctors had seen when a teenager.) I used Phisohex for years (you used to be able to buy it OTC for about $25/gal.) When it became unavailable by prescription a few years back, my family physician recommended Hibiclens. My facial skin is very oily, so a daily cleanse helps even now. I'm a scientist and I don't see potential for serious harm in using it. As with any medication, be alert for reactions or unusual changes in complexion.

Pros

  • Cheaper than Phisohex
  • Cleanses oily skin well
  • Easy to apply and use

Cons

  • Does not rinse from skin as easily as soap
  • light
  • for more than a year
  • $ 10
  • I recommend using this treatment.
