Pros Had it yesterday. I am not very red but I am swollen. I could go out if I needed to without feeling self conscious. I think I have reacted better than most compared to other posts I have read.
Cons Hurt around the eyes, hairline and jawline. The rest of my face was manageable. I was ready to be done when he was done though. I am starting to have a little breakout around the lip line. Mini postules the size of a pin head.
Bottom line If it improves your self confidence and makes you feel and look better - do it. I am supposed to go back in one month for 2nd treatment. Also, I used the newest laser and went to a top doc. Do your research and find a great board certified dermatologist. I used the clear numbing gel, 2 pain pills, the cooling fan, anti-biotic for a week and 3 days worth of anti swelling pills.

Pros Little down time!
Cons expensive
Bottom line I am so happy I did not listen to the bad reviews and took the plunge! It is amazing. After one treatment at level 60, which I was told was the lowest she would go, I can't believe how much better I look. I would say, exept for my deeper acne scars, that I am 40 to 50% better. I don't look like scarface in grey light! Make sure that whoever does this is aggressive and not just taking your money. Also, just to let people know, I got rid of my acne simply by eliminating dairy...If you have cystic acne, look it up!

Pros Results, results and results. Feeling great, looking forward to minimising these stupid scars..
Cons 3-4 days of Hybernating, Telling your friends lies that you can't see them as I felt self conscious with my Red cheeks and shiny face..
But all up definately worth it
Bottom line Shop around, get a few quotes from different Doctors, I found some doctors just wanted to get your money, offering 4 visits and get the 5th one half price...
The Laser specialist I am seeing is great, recommending I wait 3 months between treatments as she has seen maximum results this way...
I've been twice so far and already I'm seeing big improvemnts, she expects 4 treatments should do it and only charges $400 per treatment...

Pros I've had 3 treatments for fairly severe acne scarring. The last was 2 1/2 months ago. I'd tried C02 laser & saw minimal improvement. The Fraxel did the job--my skin is so much better! I'd planned to do 4 but don't know if I really need another
Cons It's painful but certainly bearable, and I was very red for a day or two, but it's well worth the results.
Bottom line Find a dermatologist who specializes in Fraxel (my doctor only does Fraxel at the practice she shares with another dermatologist). After you've had your treatments, I recommend going in for occasional hydroxy peels, which tighten the pores and help prevent further breakouts. I am in my mid-50's and have struggled with this all my life. It is awesome!

Pros it works! cost 100 more with meds. i have had 3 treatments and i dont think i will need anymore. maybe once a year if i am lucky! just for up keep of my skin but my skin looks great! 32 years old love it
Cons my md puts on numbing cream before and i had the med because i had a driver and i didnt feel any pain except for about 30 min after while i was leaving
Bottom line i have had three treatments and i could see it worked right away with the frist treatment. 2nd even more. i have just finished my 3rd treatment and this time i got a cold sore. the frist 2 i did not. i took meds to prevent it each time. with my experience i was swollen for about 3 days red 5 to 7. i had no peeling because i used biafine thru the frist 4 to 5 days thats the trick. so if i peeled you could not tell. my face stayed smooth. i hurt for about 30 min after i used cold packs on my face. but my face was red for about a week and i didnt use makeup after treatment i cant imagine that it was all about the biafine and sunscreen for me!

Pros Improved acne scarring, fine lines, skin discoloration, & tightened skin/pores.
Cons Slightly painful during procedure, burning sensation for 1-2 hours after procedure, intense redness and swelling for first couple days after treatment. Laser stimulates the oil glands so I had a hard time with break-outs around my chin area.
Bottom line Definitely well worth the time, cost, pain of getting the treatment. I have had 4 treatments so far and my skin has drastically improved in all areas. One treatment erases about a few years of damage. The more treatments, the more drastic the improvements. You can't expect miracles, but years of skin damage are gone after only a few treaments and only a few months. I did break out after the treatments, but that's only temporary, but the results are permanent.

Pros none
Cons hypopigmentation
Bottom line Went to a reputable dermatologist in NJ. I have fair asian/irish skin so I expressed my hyperpigmentation concerns with my doctor. The procedure was only really painful on my cheeks, where most of my acne scars exist. I am not sure if he cranked up the power for these areas but there is now hypopigmentation and what appears to be slightly raisd striations.

Pros leaves skin glowing, tightens pores, and brings lots of confidence!
Cons it is a little expensive
Bottom line i have had to deal with acne scars for the first time in my life and as much makeup i used to put on, nothing would cover them. The Fraxel Laser was an answer to my prayers, because just when i had given up hope for any improvement i heard of the laser. It really is amazing i have had 3 treatments and i am so satisfied!

Pros Immediate results, little downtime, CONFIDENCE
Cons sedation
Bottom line I received my first Fraxel treatment last week and I could see immediate results for my acne scars. I was actually sedated during my treatment, because my doctor is more of an "aggressive" treater, which I love. After seeing so much improvement with just one treatment, I can't wait to see what my skin looks like after two or three. It is expensive, but worth the money.

Pros one day downtime for me
Cons need more than one treatment
Bottom line This is a much better version of the old full faced co2 laser that made acne actually look worse. I saw a noticable difference in one treatment in both wrinkles and scarring. However, it took 4 weeks to see a difference whereas, the temporary erbium was right away. This is well worth the money. For one thing, this is actually a PERMANENT change as my dr. says, whereas the erbium is only TEMPORARY. Dr. says IPL's & erbiums are not much different than getting a series of microdermabrasion (which is much cheaper!) And he offers both lasers!
