| Pros | I just got my first treatment this week for moderate acne scarring. Right now it's too soon to tell the results. I currently have little minute scabs all over my cheeks. As for the procedure, the pain was minor, if there was any. I expected the procedure to hurt, but I think it was my nerves that made me uneasy initially. It reminded me of small static electricity on my face, it was kinda cool. I am looking forward to when the scabs flake off and reveal a smoother skin. |
|---|---|
| Cons | The numbing gel takes about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours to be at its peak. I got the numbing about 2:30 pm and it was still slightly numb when I went to sleep around 9:30 that evening. There was some swelling. It took about 48 hours to completely go down. Then there are the scabs, but that's okay...because I know what's below the scabs when it all flakes off. I only got my cheeks done, and it costs about $300 dollars. Sounds expensive, but I've seen what some people paid, I got off easy. |
| Bottom line | Again...I am very optimistic. I am glad I went through the procedure, at this point. My face is starting to itch, so I know the healing process is well on its way. I will be sure to log back on in about a week to give an update. |

| Pros | I haven't seen the results yet. my fingers are crossed at the moment. They told me that I need to wait for six months to see a full result and it's been only a month and I've just received my second fraxel laser treatment yesterday. I'm in my early 20's therefore no fine wrinkles or brown spots. However I do have light pigmentations and somewhat severe scars from teenage acne. I have my third fraxel laser treatment on May 1st. So I guess time will only tell! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Very painful. Many patients who had fraxel laser treatments have written on the review that the pain was tolerable. Nope not for me. Even though I was fully covered with the numbing cream for an hour and ten minutes, yes I still could feel the severe pain especially for the second time around. Plus, my face was so swolle from the first session. The next morning, I could barely open my eyes because my face was so swollen. It's expensive, painful, anti-social for three days. |
| Bottom line | NO PAIN, NO BEAUTY. If you are searching for major improvements on your skin, then you will go for at least three fraxel laser treatments. Not only it will requires you to be fiancially flexible but there is also downtime to recover from the treatment. Make sure to search for a clinic that gives you some pills to tolerate the pain. |

| Pros | Yesterday I finished my first Fraxel Restore treatment and it was no big deal. The laser stings more on the forehead area, but even that was more than tolerable. Though my face is still red I'm excited to see progress even after just one treatment. The Dr. said I might see an 80% improvement after I finish the series of 4 treatments, but if this is what I get after one treatment I'm very encouraged. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Choosing the right place to have the procedure done is very pesonal. After visiting several places I picked a dermatologist who was honest and encouraging. "Choose carefully young Skywalker" Yeah, it's expensive, but if I get this kind of improvement after just one treatment then it's worth every penny. Waited an hour before the procedure as they numbed my face. Seemed like forever. |
| Bottom line | Acne scars are debilitating. I'm finally glad there is a treatment that offers me a chance to put the scars of my youth behind me. I know I'll have some work to do build my self confidence, but having a face I can like will sure help me achieve that end. |

| Pros | It's been about 30 hours since I received my first Fraxel treatment, the non-ablative procedure. The pain level was very low, but I had a local infiltrating anesthetic in addition to the numbing cream. The recovery is not bad at all, and the redness and swelling did not prevent me from going out in public. |
|---|---|
| Cons | I had a long wait (almost 2 hours) in the waiting room, so I got rather anxious. Then the numbing and injections took another 3/4 hour. Applying ice packs every hour after the treatment interfered with my activities, but it helped a lot with the redness and swelling. |
| Bottom line | I had an experienced and excellent dermatologist. I have minor adult acne, and scarring for moderate to severe acne I had as a teenager. I had 6 passes for this first treatment. On a pain scale of 1-10 (with 10 being extreme pain, and 1 being barely no pain), the pain level was about a 1 for the first 2 passes and about a 2 for the next 4. Piece of cake. The most irritating thing for me was the puffy face that I had for a few hours, with the peak of it coming between 10 and 18 hours after the treatment. But right now (30 hours after the procedure), the swelling is minimal, and I don't have the puffy feeling. The redness is not bad either. The downtime is basically a non-issue. I will be back in 4 weeks for Treatment #2. I don't see much downside to this procedure, and I am confident that I will see results. I recommend you get injections in addition to the numbing cream for the non-ablative procedure. |

| Pros | amazing , skin looks plump and fresh and really nice after just one treatment. |
|---|---|
| Cons | I really can't say anything bad. It was stinging at first and the first two days were swollen but the third day was really not so bad. Today just 11 days later i look great! |
| Bottom line | I have had one treatment and will have two more and at $800 a session I say it was worth every penny! The scars I had on my face were rolling scars and they are about 60% improved already. I took some medicine to prevent breaking out a day before and the day after and used some sunblock from Image skin care and thanks God it really worked. I would say it was a good idea. I had really bad acne when I was younger and I had acutane which stopped the breaking out but the scars remained which I hated. Now I can feel good about myself again. No more hiding in certain types of light. |

| Pros | reduced visibility of acne scarring, self confidence bulider, even tone of skin. |
|---|---|
| Cons | price, redness, pain, getting your doctor to raise the laser setting, comming to grips with the fact that results take time to see while you are shoveling out thousands of dollars that you really could be using to do something else with. |
| Bottom line | three weeks after my first fraxel treatment, I noticed a 30% reduction in my acne scarring. I just had my second treatment today and I am awaiting to see results. It will be about three weeks before i will see the results but I will keep everyone informed. I had my first treatment at a level 6 at 40mj. My second was at level 7 at 40mj. I could still talk as i was being fraxeled so I am going to request a level 9 at 50mj for my third session. |

| Pros | none |
|---|---|
| Cons | High cost, painful treatment, unpleasant recovery, did not improve my pores or scars, and left little pin-prick sized holes all over my face |
| Bottom line | After 3 courses of Accutane over a decade ago, I had 2 Fraxel restore treatments at the highest intensity. One month after the second treatment, I notice tiny pits all over my skin where the lasers were, which gives it a bumpy texture. My pores have shrunk minimally, but my scars almost seem deeper after the treatments. I've noticed that my skin heals much more slowly after the Accutane treatments. My guess is that because of the drugs I've taken in the past, my skin does not respond to Fraxel laser trauma by healing itself. It just gets further damaged. I'm going to visit my doctor before having a third treatment, because I read someone else's review stating that Fraxel after multiple Accutane courses also left them with damage. |

| Pros | didn't really hurt with numbing cream, little down time |
|---|---|
| Cons | price, swelling for two days |
| Bottom line | I only had one treatment and see about a 20% improvement. At 800 a treatment, I think I might do one more. I wish the results were greater.... |

| Pros | Overall skin tone is better. |
|---|---|
| Cons | At least a week downtime -4 weeks after 2 treatments scars are still visible but better. |
| Bottom line | My complexion is olive (Hispanic), so finding someone who has experience with people of color is essential. Pain is tolerable but everyone's threshold for pain differs. I'm not unhappy but anxious to see final results. My third treatment is scheduled for tomorrow 10/22/09 and for me the worst part is being stuck at home for 3 to 5 days. I'm not ashamed to say I do have to use a make up (purchased at local drug store) to hide discoloration for at least a week.. I'll keep you updated. I do not want to use this treatment 4/5 times. I'm done!! The verdict is still out. |
