Cons -Increased whiteheads
-Skin became more oily
-no effect on existing acne
Bottom line Well it did not work for me, it did not make me much worse but some of the whiteheads it caused are still there 2 months later and I didn't get them until I took fish oil. Try it for a few weeks and see if it helps you. If it's making you worse stop.

Pros Easy to take
Many have been the root of my decline in acne
good hair! reverses greying supposedly
Cons nothing!
Bottom line I am taking vitamins and minerals that include fish oil. I have been taking this for a week, and my acne is under control. I have not said that ever. It is awesome. Any skeptics out there, why not try it? It is good for your health and balances out omega 6, bringing the ratio down, and upping the anti inflammatory factor. two words; Do it

Pros Helps Cardiovascular Health
Helps Memory
Helps Complexion
Helps Mood
Cons None for me so far
Bottom line Ok, so I have moderate-moderately severe acne and not a very good complexion. I actually didn't start taking fish oil for anything like that, I just started taking it as a supplement myself since I figured it couldn't hurt and i was already taking a cleanse so it couldn't hurt. The kind I've been taking doesn't make you burp so you don't have to worry about the taste or random gross burps. Its been around a week maybe, and I noticed my complexion looking quite nice the last couple days and the one day I skipped taking it my complexion went back to looking not so great. Also, along with that I seem to be in a better mood and just feel better. So while it hasn't cleared my acne its made my skin overall better so I suggest just trying it.

Pros made hair shine
actually curbed my eating
helped with loosing weight
Cons ACNE, ACNE, ACNE
and gave a rash effect on arm had to use vitamin e to get rid of it.
Bottom line Because of the bad acne after 28 days of use as of today march 17,2011 i am deciding to stop today. If you have dry skin and acid don't bother you than this will be great for you .but if you have oily skin and acid affects you for example, soda or orange juice. Than this is not for u!

Pros Good for health.
Skin is softer.
Skin may be becoming clearer
Cons Pill size may be an issue for some.
Brand and ingredients ARE important.
Slow effect time.
Bottom line I've been taking 2 a day 1000mg (300mg of Omega-3) Kirkland concentrated Fish Oil for about a week now, and will update my review probably after a month or two just to make sure any progress or lack of progress isn't being changed by hormones.
First off I was very wary about taking these after seeing people complaining about cysts and getting MORE acne, not to mention the flavor.
I have NOT had any increase in acne or size of acne. I have not had a decrease either, though old redspots seem to be lighter. My skin does seem a bit softer (as a week ago it was insanely dry from winter weather.)
I have also not had any 'fish burps', this may be because I freeze mine and take the morning pill with a meal.

I'll keep taking the pills, if no other reason than because the omega 3 and fish oil are both good for your health. Like I said, I haven't seen a huge change in my face, but it's only been a week.
I have been trying to get my mother to take them aswell because fish oil is recommended to those with high cholestrol.

Since some people HAVE had problems with fish oil I would still urge caution and not just say 'this worked for me, therefore it must work for everyone.'
But for me, personally, there hasnt been a down side.
(Also, as far a pill size go, if you have issues with swallowing pills, it may be hard as the pills ARE very large. I tend to pop 4 large pills at a time though, so it wasn't an issue for me. Gel capsules in general are made to be easier going down.

(I received my fish oil pills from a family member, so I'm not sure about the price, so I'm going off of costco's website. anywhere else they sell for far more.

Pros Healthy hair, skin, and nails
Clears moderate acne
Good for the brain
Good for cardiovascular health
Cons Tastes bad
Bottom line If you really want to get rid of your acne, don't use fish oil capsules. I recommend a liquid version. The texture is kind-of gross, but fresh and unrefined fish oil, especially cod liver oil, has much higher amounts of EPA, DHA, and Omega-3. All these are great for your skin, hair, brain, and heart.
Also you don't have to deal with swallowing a huge pill.

Pros Easily available
Inexpensive
Cons Doesn't work for everyone
Can cause breakouts or worsen acne condition
Bottom line Fish oil hasn't worked for me. The day I stopped taking the fish oil capsules, big cysts stopped growing and no new acne has erupted. I've tried this on and off for the past year and everytime I add fish oil back into my dietary supplement, the acne comes back ferociously. I'm giving this one up for good.

I've followed a suggestion of one of the reviewers on acne.org to drink lemon water, green tea and plenty of water for quicker recovery and this has worked very well (heaps of thanks to that person). I topped up on freshly squeezed orange juice and apple juice with at least 2 servings of other fruits everyday and my complexion is improving.

In short, this doesn't work for everyone. You have to try it to see if it works for you.

Pros One type cleared up my acne.
Cons Another type from the same brand made it worse.
Bottom line I bought Spring Valley 1200 mg with 360 mg of Omega-3 (EPA+DHA). Without reading the instructions, I began taking them one softgel per day.

The mild acne I used to have was gone.

After 2 months, I read the instructions. It said you are supposed to take 3 a day. I don't want to take 3 a day. So, I went and bought the more potent one a day version from the same brand. Spring Valley "Triple Strength" 1400 mg with 900 mg of Omega-3 (EPA+DHA). I started taking them one a day.

Within 3 days, I saw a couple of pimples. I thought it can't possibly be fish oil -- it must be someting else. But, as long as I took fish oil softgels I kept getting more acne.

Every fish oil review I have read states that the Triple Strength version goes through much higher quality processing and is better for you than regular strength.

But, the cheaper, regular strength version from the same brand, taken in smaller than recommended dosage was what worked for me.
