If you can use it without getting diarrhea and the bacteria on you skin is not resistant to it, then definitely use this. It does work, but make sure your dosage is high, like 500mg for at least a few months. Don't miss your doses and don't end the treatment early. You can also use benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid topically, which will work better than any other topical. Of course, you can't use salicylic acid if you are allergic to aspirin.

I took the oral form of Erythromycin for about a year. It didn't have any bad effects in terms of drying out my skin or giving me other side effects. On the other hand, it didn't make a huge difference, either, although I did notice some improvement. One unexpected benefit is that I was able to avoid getting strep throat because it's physically impossible to get the bacterial form of it while on the drug.

Did not see a difference with this stuff. I was taking an antibiotic at the same time. Seemed to just dry me out.

so far zinerty is working very well for me, its taking longer than a expected but i have only been using it for 7weeks, most of the spots on my face have gone, and it seems to be removing the scars as well, its very agreeable with my skin, but does sting if you have a scratch or an open spot. all in all i'm very impressed.

i never really had bad acne, mostly some black heads, and once in a while a couple enormous pimples. but my mom decided i should see a derm any ways. he prescribed this stuff, and ive been using it for about 2.5 months now. well it started to make my face peel and itch after a couple weeks, and now ive realized after looking at some older photos from before i used it that i have red/purple spots everywhere and some nasty scars too. this stuff is terrible, pay more for a better drug, this is generic affordable garbage.

When I was a teenager I was on erythromycin for about 1.5 years and it worked great. Now, more than 10 years later, the doctor put me on erythromycin again because I suddenly developed adult acne. After 1 month of erythromycin I am showing zero results, the acne is worse than ever. The doc said that it's time to try another medication.

I had used Benzamycin for years until I got fed up with the fact that it bleaches everything-sheets, blankets, towels, clothes. I was fed up with buying new ones all the time. But it did work pretty well, in combination with birth control (Zovia). Didn't work by itself, though. Plus, it was bitter and smelly (alcohol content).

If taking the oral form I would suggest also using an aha lotion or topical retinoid + non comedogenic moisturizer concomittantly. Erythromycin is a macrolide which is active against staph A (common skin bacteria) but there are strains which are resistant. These resistant strains can invade fragile skin and cause skin infections which make acne look like nothing. Be careful. Antibiotics are powerful drugs. More than a 6 month course and you are putting yourself at serious risk and comprimising your immune system.
