Bottom Line:Erythromycin, accutane, tetracycline, etc. are all TEMPORARY fixes. As long as you have a body, it will produce oil and bacteria--you would die if it didn't. There are not any medications in existence that will magically make acne disappear and never return--if there was, no one would ever have pimples again. Antibiotics used in conjuction with proper diet, excercise, and hygiene will minimize outbreaks. It's all genetic.

Pros:After 12 months of 2.5% BP, this 5% BP + Erythomycin combo gel cleared up my skin overnight! Also, product is often covered by your insurance!
Cons:Be prepared for VERY dry skin. Also redness, itchiness, and flakeness. Use plenty of moisturizer!!!
Bottom Line:I am 29 years old and have been struggeling with moderate acne for 3 years. I have been on the 2.5% BP regime for over about 1 year, and my doctor decided to prescribe me a Erythomycin + BP combo gel to speed up the healing process. The BP is 5% in this solution. My skin was clearing up slowly before with just BP, but now it is almost completely clear! This combo gel made an almost over-night impact on my skin! I recommend this product only for people who have been using BP for a while now, because this combo gel makes your skin VERY dry and itchy, so you need to prepare your skin for this treatment gradually. I still have the occasional zit, but nothing as inflammatory as before. I love this product and wish I would have known about it sooner!

**Every morning and night, I wash my face with Neutrogena Acne Wash (Salicylic Acid), wait 5 min., apply the combo gel, wait 15 min., and apply Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer**

Pros:the topical form, that was prescribed on swabs was very effective. it prescribed for my shoulders, but i used it on face as well and it made my skin so clear. granted the occasional bump here and there, i though the medicine was very effective.
Cons:it has a smell, the substance on your body is not like alcohol based products that dry up. Rather, it leaves a greasy feeling that I didn't like getting on my sheets. It was also itchy when you first ut it on. The cons are all minimal.
Bottom Line:I used the medicine from 16-18. It is important to note that my acne was not very bad, so I don't know if it would be strong enough for sever acne users too. The medicine worked extremely well for me. It made my average complection very very clear. It was also really cheap, so its worth trying.

Pros:Inflammation goes down
Cons:Insurance doesnt cost much
Bottom Line:Let me tell you how it really is I tried dicyloine did not work. Now Erythrocin worked well for the first three days then my skin really broke out I think it's pushing the zits up that were already there. It's nuts. My skin looks worse I'm about to cry..this is ridiculous. I might as well face it Ill never be pretty.

Pros:Does not dry out your skin. Reduces the apperance of inflamation.
Cons:Takes a while to adjust to stomach. First few days are uncomfortable.
Bottom Line:You will see results in as soon as 3 days! I have had acne now for four years, I tried cleansers and other anti biotics and this one is the best! It is truly a miracle!

Hi I'm 22, had acne since I was 13. Doctor said it would clear up by the time im 18 naturally how wrong he was, however I stopped breaking out in spots in odd places but my beard area around my chin and lower jaw area was completely red bumpy and spotty. I was constantly squeezing etc. If you have stubborn acne like me in annoying areas do NOT bother using any strong shop products like Clearasil Ultra, I have been on this for 3 years and it worked at first but then did nothing. I have spent hundreds of pounds on it and it isn't worth it. Get a simple cleansing product. I did use Zineryt Topical to put directly on when I was 19, but I wasn't strict with it. I used it on and off. This does NOT work. You have to be strict with it. For the past week I decided thats it Im gonna go back on the topical stuff but ALSO get Erythromycin Tablets. I got 3 weeks worth. Now my first week I have to say the results are amazing. The combination of systemic antiobiotics and topical seems to be killing the horrible bacteria completely. The awful red spots and bumps and lumps are now completely flat. It is still a little red in areas but that is just where the spots have been. It is healing. You HAVE to use this twice a day and keep it to an optimum dose. I spread the Eurythromycin Tablets over like 1 tablet - 8am, 1 tablet 1pm, 1 tablet 6 pm, 1 tablet at 11pm. Do NOT eat any chocolate/coffee products as I found these give the worst spots ever they increase oil production LOADS. I have read about a last resort acne tablet which reduces 85-90% of your oil production and in 4 months completely clears any acne. It has side effects such as dry eyes and pregnant women shouldn't use it.Remember if it clears keep using the product ie Zynerit Topical for at least a month after on the places the spots were. Once the bacteria are completely gone from your skin they won't return. Possibly if you're a teenager because of hormones. I would stick it out till your in your twenties then use them. Im afraid it's less likely to go if you have hormones raging around your body.

hello again! well i'm one week short of two months on Erythromycin oral antibiotics. I'm not happy with the results. for the first two weeks it seemed hopeful, after about the third week my skin was just getting worse and worse. i sit here today with a fully broken out face! its horrible, i don't want to go out anymore, not to school, not to parties etc. i hate this stuff! i'm going for my chekup in a week hopefully i will get put on to something else that doesnt make my face bumpy like an orange and red like a tomato:)... i feel like i'm going to have to just put up with my acne... ive had it since about 12/13 and it aint shifting! (now 16 1/2)!!
