| Pros | got rid of blackheads in my nose completely help get rid of most of my acne |
|---|---|
| Cons | it is too pasty, hard to apply all over face, hard to take it off in the morning, my skin was dried and flaky for the first month, then it was ok. |
| Bottom line | I recommend it. My doctor told me it takes 3 to 6 months until my skin clears up completely and so I used it for a whole year. It did work for me, I had to stop buying it because I couldn't afford more treatment, and acne came back to how it was before the whole treatment. I used it with differin after letting the Erythromycin dry for 15 minutes (didn't wash it off,) let it all night and washed it off the next morning. If you can afford it and your doctor prescribes this medication, use it, but be patient as it takes sometimes 6 months for your skin to clear up completely (depends on your type of skin, severity of acne...) You might breakout more the first week or so. It is normal, all the bacteria inside your skin is getting out. After those zits come out, the treatment should start working. Good luck!!! |

| Pros | When used with Differin, it cleared my face completely |
|---|---|
| Cons | After 1-2 years of continuous use, my acne developed a resistance to this product, and I had to switch to a different medication. |
| Bottom line | I used Erythromycin gel by applying a thin film on my problem areas in the morning, and at night I would apply a thin film of Differin gel. It took about 3 weeks to see results, but eventually all my acne went away. I was clear for a period of 1-2 years, but then my face started building a resistance to the medication, and the acne came back. I find that with these prescription medications, they will work for about 1-2 years and then they stop working, so I have to switch from one to the other. All these dermatologist prescribed medications do work, but they do not cure acne. They just temporarily mask it. You have to use them on a consistent basis every day, or your acne will come back. Right now, I have stopped taking all these and I am trying natural methods such as taking probiotics and fiber supplements to see if I can get to the root of the problem. |

| Pros | works fast |
|---|---|
| Cons | none :) |
| Bottom line | Well i just got my pills today. So i have no changes yet (obviously) but my sister has been taking them for 6 weeks, and 95% of her acne is gone, still some redness but it'l be gone soon. I'm hoping my skin does the same. As we are under 18 we do not have to pay. Sowe get a constant supply! I'm 15,but my acne is pretty bad that i have to cover it up with make up every day. Hopefully i wont have to anymore! |

| Pros | eventually skin cleared a little |
|---|---|
| Cons | takes ages to work not good on the stomach |
| Bottom line | This tablet was like taking no tablets had no affect on me what so ever, i took this tablet for 8 months two tablets twice a day. to start with my acne stayed the same(moderate) then after a few months my acne began to flare and it became severe, since then my acne stayed the same, then saw a slight improvement on the eighth month(may just be a washing regime or the fact that it was summer) but really no affect at all. |

| Pros | Cheap, easy to tolerate no obvious side effects. |
|---|---|
| Cons | May lead to antibiotic resistance. |
| Bottom line | I have been taking Erythromycin 5oomg twice daily for four weeks it cleared my acne almost immediately. I am 48yrs and have suffered from acne particularly on my chin since I was a teenager. I have found that since I have grown older the red scarring does not fade as quickly. This drug has worked very well and I will ask my doctor if I can stay on it as long as possible. It is great not to wake up every morning and put my hand up to my face and not feel a new spot appear. |

| Pros | worked well at times, no side effects for me, ok to take while pregnant and nursing |
|---|---|
| Cons | stopped working, takes 6 weeks to start working |
| Bottom line | I've been on this drug for 3 years. Worked ok (some breakouts) through 2 pregnancies and nursing. After I was done with nursing, my skin cleared completely so I stopped taking it just to see. BIG MISTAKE. My skin's been horrible ever since - 7 months now. I've tried oral and topicals but nothing works. I went back on Ery. 3 months ago but it's not working now either:( |

| Pros | Helped a little after other antibiotics stopped having an effect |
|---|---|
| Cons | For me it only worked for a few weeks, didn't make much difference but helped keep the spots at bay a little |
| Bottom line | Unimpressed. Not a complete waste of time for me but at 42 I'm amazed I get acne anyway. Maybe is the anti-depressants I'm on that causes it. Will keep searchinf for a solution. |
