Pros:CLEARS ACNE AMAZINGLY, goes on clear, easy to apply
Cons:makes face feel slick, dries my oily skin out
Bottom Line:This is great!! I use the topical solution and it clears my acne so much!! I used to have so much on my cheeks and NOTHING worked. Trust me, I've used a lot of solutions. Now my skin looks CLEAR. Not absolutely clear, but mostly clear. It will keep on working.

Do not use it for 3 days and stop because you think your acne looks worse. That happened to me but then I tried for 2 weeks and my acne suddenly was almost gone!!

By the way, I use this along with topical 5% benzoyl peroxide and leave it on overnight. I would suggest this.

It was FREE for me under my insurance plan.

Pros:It works! After just 2.5 wks my acne (of 4 years) is starting to clear :)

Significantly fewer breakouts
Cons:mild stomach discomfort (who cares? my skins clearing!!!)
Bottom Line:YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED TO COMPLETE THE COURSE...DON'T QUIT AFTER 2 WEEKS..BE PATIENT!

Apparently quitting is the number 1 reason oral antibiotics don't work...you won't see results straight away

Pros:Works, colorless.
Cons:Applicator drips! Slow improvement.
Bottom Line:Okay, so I use the 2% solution.
I'm 14, and I used to only get 1 pimple a month, then in October, my skin got really bad.

My doctor first put me on Tazorac and Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Wash, and it cleared my forehead, but I still had some on my cheeks. So, she prescribed me amoxillan 500 mg and Erthromycin 2% solution, and told me to keep using the Benzoyl Peroxide face wash, and it's been working slowly, but my skin is almost back the the way it was!

No side affects, really, and yeah. I would recommend it, and it's really cheap if you have insurance.

Pros:This product has reduced a lot of the redness that used to be on my skin and has eliminated at least 30% of my acne and I have only been taking this pill for 4 days!
Cons:Although the product works pretty well it makes me go to the bathroom a lot and rarely gives me chest pains.
Bottom Line:I've had moderate acne for at least 2 to 3 years and to see that one of the many products I have used has finally worked makes me feel really good. You will see a huge difference in your skin just days after trying this product.

Pros:After the first 4 weeks my skin was BEAUTIFUL!! I was so excited about having no acne on my face.and I loved my skin texture.
Cons:After about 6 weeks I stated to break out again. I think my body is used to it so it's not effective on me an longer. My dermatologist told me the best bet is birth control or she suggested Septra. I just don't want to be on antibiotics forever!
Bottom Line:I think I may try the Septra. My concern is that the same situation my occur as with the Erythromycin, it stops working for me. Not sure at this point, what my long term goals are for acne treatment...

Pros:Dries the skin (good if you have oily skin), has no color.
Cons:Has a bitter taste (bad if you have a girlfriend that likes to lick your face)
Bottom Line:As a male, I've had pretty good results with erythromycin (I've also tried Sulfacet but I didn't like the way it makes your skin look more pale, sort of like makeup).
Erythromycin does dry your skin if you use too much which can be painful. If you are using this medication and your skin hurts because it's too dry, you may want to consider moving up to something stronger. Ideally, you should be able to apply just enough (very little) of this for twin purposes: 1) to reduce oiliness (part of the cause of acne) 2) to apply the antibiotic to killl the bacteria. Use erythromycin to start off if you've never used another acne medication before.

Pros:It's made a huge difference in my face already. Greatly reduced redness.
Cons:Extreme drying, some peeling, just really stingy & burny after applying & long after.
Bottom Line:Well basically the bottom line is;
I think it's working well so far. I've been dealing with this nasty cystic for what seems like forever, yet I'm 16.
My dermatologist prescribed me minocycline also, but after hearing all the horror stories, I decided to hold off on that...lol.
The topical gel is working well for me, & with coverup I look blemish free & feel a lot better about myself!
Cheap with insurance.

Pros:Cheap
Cons:Dries out skin, takes forever to dry, makes face oily and greasy, does nothing at all for acne, makes face itch, makes face sting, smells horrid
Bottom Line:Useless. After two weeks, cleared up skin then face broke out really bad in areas I've never broken out before. It dried out my face to the point that mousterizer doesn't work. It cleared up nothing. It stings, it itches. My face is hella greasy by the end of the day with this stuff. It takes forever to dry.

Pros:Started using Clindamycin gel-made my skin WORSE!! Then after I researched other medications I requested Erythromycin tablets 2X day 500 mg, and instantly my skin changed for the better...
Cons:No cons...No side affects, nothing...
Bottom Line:Within the past year I have def done my fair share of research. I would highly recommend starting with an oral antibiotic. The creams and gels do no justice. I've read that acne is caused by a bacteria festering inside our bodies. Placing a topical solution on the "outler" layer will not cure the bacteria.

Most importantly : Research your options and demand a change in prescriptions if you don't vision any improvements. Only you know your body...

Good luck to all :-) There is hope...
