Hey, I'm 16 and I have had terrible acne for approximately 4 years now. Over the counter products for me are pretty useless, I understand what it feels like when you believe you have tried every possible treatment, so hang in there guys x . Patience is the key, in time you'll discover what's right for you.
I know this is a little early to rate his product as I am not 100% sure my results will improve futher, or will be of a long term effect from this oral antibiotic, but anyway. I've been on the oral capsules of Erythomicin for 5 days now, I had an appointment earlier this week with my doctor because I was desperate to see a dermatologist as I had one of the worst break outs so far and I had even taken days off school because I was so depressed as a result.
My doctor describes my acne condition as moderate, but around the time of my period my skin becomes really inflamed and I develop larger, irritated spots, so to me it appears to be quite severe at times.
I know treatments take time and patience but i've noticed nothing but positive results during my 5 days of intake. Inflammation has gone right down, the sore, larger spots have dried up, leaving red marks, but they disappear in time. I haven't really noticed many other spots forming but they have reduced in size, if not ceased to form dramatically. So fingers crossed it will continue to work effectively =) . I recommend it to those with 'angry', moderate acne.

For a year, it was wonderful. Cleared up my adult acne, and I was confident and attractive again. Then, apparently I started to build up resistant. So, now I've gone back to BP; however, don't have the results I had when I first went on erythromycin. Still doing both: Eryth at night, BP during day, but BP over the swollen ones at night. Using the Eryth 2% topical gel. I use it on my back, since it doesnt stain clothes: which is my biggest complaint against BP. Obviously, since I'm on this site, I'm looking for the next "wonderful" treatment. :(

i have been using erythromycin gel (2 %) for a little while now and all it has done is dried my skin to the point where I don't leave my house in the morning... i may have an alergic reaction to this drug, but my family physician doesn't think that's likely. Using this product in moderation and when applying, I applied sparingly, did not dry my skin out as much, albeit it probably isn't doing as much to clear my acne. it has cleared it up a little, but I am using multiple medications, to be honest, the $30 cost can buy you 3 or 4 months of clearasil, which works for most. I use both and my skin is improving... slowly.
