i have tried EVERYTHING over the past 17-18 years since i first started getting acne and NOTHING has ever cleared my skin up completely.....the only products that came close were a combination of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide........

the problem with using these in combination was that although they had the effect of supressing the acne and limiting the amount of breakouts, it brought along another equally annoying couple of side effects - reddening and excess flaking of the skin............i put up with these side effects for years up until very recently, when i read rave reviews about environs range and so decided to try it..........

the lady who is guiding me through the process has me using the following products......sebutrol, sebuwash, sebutone, sebugel-a, sebuspot....and sebumask then every 4th night or so........she assures me this will work but my skin will need a few weeks to adjust..........i have just finished my first week..........

EVERY single time i have previously stopped using the combo of salicylic acid and bperoxide and tried new products, my acne will be back in force after 1 week and simply out of control after 2 weeks........

the results i see so far look promising.........i am still getting breakouts but they are a different type of breakout to the acne i usually get (painful cysts).........they feel more like little white blisters - most are so small you can almost wipe off your face....... the more severe ones just kind of sting when burst and produce only a small amount of pus/blood which is in stark contrast to the cystic spots.........dont get me wrong, my skin still looks awful but im hoping the reduction in cytic acne will bode well for the future.....

like i say, im only a week in and it may not work, but im gona give it a go and ill let u know how i progress as the weeks go by.......

Pros

  • environ have an entire range dedicated to 'problematic, acne prone skin' - called the B-active range. the active ingredients their products contain include tea tree oil, salicylic acid and vitamin A.

Cons

  • its hard to get hold of - it isnt stocked in retail stores so u either have to order it online or find a dermatologist that sells the products in their shop.
  • its not cheap but that kind of doesnt really concern me at this stage- if the stuff works im prepared to pay for it.......
  • severe
  • for about a week
  • $ 150
  • I recommend using this treatment.

This is a continuation of my review from a few months back. I have been using Environ's Intensive Retinol (1–3) regime (alongside Priori and Dermalogica products) and I recommend it for anyone with comedonal acne, particularly if you are considering Roaccutane/Isotane treatment, or if you have tried this medication and relapsed.

After 15 years of trialling numerous treatments/medications (topical and internal) I am comedone free! It has also cleared by pigmentation, which was a result of repeated use of Isotane.

It might be a reasonable cost $NZ85, however, if I think about the total cost of the potential solutions I have tried, it would be in the $1000s.

You do have to be careful with the product in regard to application and using sunscreen, however, it doesn't produce any of the side effects of Isotane.

Please try this before going for an internal medication option!

Pros

[not submitted]

Cons

[not submitted]
  • moderately severe
  • for a few months
  • $ 85
  • I recommend using this treatment.

After trying numerous skincare/diet-related options I found that only Isotane would clear my skin. However, once I was off it for 3–4 months my acne would be back. I went through this cycle 4 times until i decided to try Environ's intensive retinol range. I have been using Retinol 1 for about 6 weeks. Within the first week my pigmentation was hugely reduced and is now completely gone. It has helped with the acne in terms of no breakouts, however, I still have a lot of closed comedones. I have now upgraded to Retinol 2 and will see how it goes. Note that Environ advise you to become accustomed to vitamin A through using their other products first, however, I didn't do this. The intensive Retinol serums are the only Environ product that I use. As long as you are careful to judge the frequency and amount you use this product, and ALWAYS wear an SPF during the day (SPF 30 if you are down here in the Southern Hemisphere).

This product is definitely worth a try for those who have relapsed from Isotane, and for people thinking about taking Isotane, I would certainly recommend trying Environ Retinol first – it's a healthier option without excessive side effects.

Pros

  • It seems to be working!
  • It has completely removed the pigmentation that appeared on my forehead and around my eyes due to taking Isotane (NZ equivalent of Roaccutane).

Cons

  • High price tag for a product that needs to be used within 6–8 weeks.
  • Environ are reluctant to advertise their ingredients, which makes one think that they can't be that good for you.
  • moderately severe
  • for a few months
  • $ 85
  • I recommend using this treatment.

Give it a try because it's quite a nice almost natural range created by a plastic surgeon residing in South Africa.

But, if you try it once (which lasts 1-2months) and it doesn't work for you then I suggest you move on.

Environ is a decent product but they need to ensure that their ingredients are much more improved in the future!

Pros

  • It's a straight forward range and the sebuB range is intended for people with acne + problematic skin. The products look nice and smells nice and goes on well. They have good training for their beauty therapists and have their own machines and facial regimens.

Cons

  • It's VERY expensive. About $38 a bottle (you have to buy TROL, WASH, TONE and also MASK and also moisturisers which can be $80!) - This range will easily set you back $200-$300 a month! Not including facials!
  • It does seem to work at first, but I was doing some research and they have alot of comedogenic ingredients and fillers and parabens.
  • moderately severe
  • inconsistently
  • $ 250
  • I do not recommend using this treatment.

I think that this product may work for some, so people should give it a try but i'm a little concerned about the irritants that are contained within these products.

Pros

  • Hi - i have moderate acne coupled with a lot of blackheads. When i first used these products they seemed to really work but..

Cons

  • After 4 weeks my skin just went nuts. I have really bad micro sports all over my cheeks and jaw line which i never had before. My skin isn't too oily but the texture now is almost scaly and raised with lots of tiny little spots under the surface.
  • moderate
  • for about a month
  • $ 30
  • I do not recommend using this treatment.

Well, i used to have very bad acne, and after using Environ (i use the sebuwash, sebutone, sebuspot and AVST creams) i have seen an improvement. I used to have acne all over my face in random places, but now i believe thanks to Environ, my spots are located mostly on my cheeks. The lady who does my facials (with like a machine that pushes vit. a to my skin) told me that hormones cause spots on cheeks and around my mouth, so therefore it would take longer for them to go away. All in all, Environ has worked for me, but i'm pretty sure there are products less expencive than the ones i use, but i'm gonna stick with the regime and see (:

Pros

  • Smells & Feels nice, seems to work

Cons

  • First few months; a lot of improvement. After 6 months, seems to slow down. However i was told that it takes about 1-2 years for acne to completely clear up and for scarring to go away, so i'll have to see.
  • moderately severe
  • for about a year
  • I recommend using this treatment.

I just had to come here and rave about Environ, esp as I have visited these boards in all my acne agony two years ago before going on Accutane...it cleared my acne, but as I feared, a year after I stopped the spots were returning, fast and multiplying to my absolute despair!!! I was on the verge of asking to be put on accutane again when I decided to just try the Environ creams ( AVST), as they contain Vitamin A. After trying so many things for years, I knew it was the Retinol ( Vit A) in Accutane that helped, so I took a chance on a topical form...Environ.

Friends and fellow acne sufferers, there was no turning back for me.

After 3 months of Environ, my acne is completely gone again and my skin is looking taut and fresh and glowing! I never wear makeup anymore.

Environ has loads of ranges and I can only say I've tried AVST, but I can't reccomend it enough!

Pros

  • Clears up skin within a month of use and it keeps getting better!
  • Great Post- Accutane!

Cons

  • It's not cheap, but I have spent the same amount and more on tons of other useless products!
  • Hard to get....available only at selected salons and a few websites..it feels like a well kept secret!
  • moderate
  • for a few months
  • I recommend using this treatment.

A skin care woman told me that i needed a moisturizer, so she sold me the gel from this companies professional line. It has helped reduce scarring and redness, stop pores from clogging, and keeps my skin soft. I know its expensive but its really worth it and worth a try.

Pros

  • amazing! i use ONLY the Professional lines "moisturizing gel" product at the "debut" level (within my normal routine,) and it has LITERALLY SAVED MY SKIN.

Cons

  • quite expensive, but its worth it.
  • moderate
  • for about a month
  • $ 40
  • I recommend using this treatment.
