Pros -Reduces visible size of spots
-Reduces inflammation
-Results noticed very soon after commencing treatment
Cons -Due to the BP, drying can occur; nothing extreme and is certainly overcome by moisturizing adequately.
Bottom line Personally, I have found this to be better than just using BP. Although both active ingredients do share bacteria- killing properties, I suppose the advantage is due to the anti inflammatory action of the clindamycin.
Most people that are tolerant of BP, should definitely try this as there is clearly nothing to loose... only another beneficial ingredient added.
Although results can be noticed overnight, to return to an acne- free face, you will need to use this for a couple of months.

Pros - Non drying (within reason.) I found that using a moisturizer about a half hour after application for the first week or so helped my skin get used to Duac, and now I don't have to.
- Slowed rapidly re-appearing acne.
- Free, but so is everything because England is a don country.
Cons - Didn't do much...
Bottom line Sorry to do this guys! No one likes a bad review. I do think this product has a bit going for it, it's fairly gentle and I'm sure for anyone with light acne it would work, but for me Duac really doesn't fit the bill.
I hope this isn't premature, as I'm at about the 3 1/2 week stage, but I mean results are seriously lacking. I'll happily re-review if Duac is planning a sneaky clear skin surprise within the next few days, but honestly I think I'm going to have to swap product. I'm using this along side tetrcycline, but it's far to soon to see results from that.
My skin is exactly the same as it was when I started use, with the exception that I have far fewer white heads but equally as many blemishes in general. In a nut shell, I have a lodda spots.
My advice to anyone who was reading this, if they've just started using, or are intending to use duac wouldn't be to be put off. If your acne's light, give it a go because the fact that it's gentle means its going to do less long term damage to your skin... (No scientific knowledge behind that so I could be wrong, it just felt a logical assumption?) But if your acne is moderate or worse, try something else.
To be totally honest, I'd probably not recommended it. But that's only because It's not worked for me.
Good luck anyway :) x

Pros Helped keep my acne under control
Works for many people
Contains benzoyl peroxide and topical antibiotics
Doesn't work out to expensive for UK users on the NHS
No side effects
Cons Didn't keep me totally clear
Bottom line Before starting on the regimen, I was prescribed Duac by my GP for a year or two. It worked to keep the acne under control, but it never got rid of it fully. I also broke out quite regularly - I since realised that when I got to the end of the tube I would use less of the cream so I could put off going to the pharmacy. That inevitably broke me out a few weeks later!

If you have mild/moderate acne, Duac might be worth a go. However, I would recommend going on the regimen, its kept me loads clearer than Duac. However I guess since Duac is basically Benzoyl Peroxide, you can incorporate it in to the regimen.

Pros didn't really dry my skin out,
Cons was hard to wear under make up, took a while to see result and then pimples came back.
Bottom line I am a 31 year old female and have been suffering from adult acne that has been worsening over the last year. This winter has really done a job and I have been getting really really bad large reddned raised pimples that seem to be appearing and reappearing in the same areas (cheeks, jaw and above eyebrow). The breakouts seem to start about 1 week before my menstrual cycle and last about 3 weeks before calming down. I started using the Duac and after a few weeks I realized that I wasn't getting any new breakouts (even right before my next cycle), but it wasn't doing much to help the breakouts that were already there. After about 5-6 weeks I started getting another bad breakout of 4-5 new pimples and decided to try something else. Went to the derm and he gave me epiduo and doxycycline which I have been on for the last week and am already seeing results. I wanted to love Duac because it wasn't harsh - despite the 5% BP. Altogether I gave Duac about 7 weeks before deciding to change treatment. I am currently using epiduo samples but when they run out I plan to ask for generic differin (adapalene) and then I will go back to the duac in combination with the adapalene. My research on Duac indicated that it works best in combination with other topicals, so I will update on that later.

Pros Keeps spots at the same level
Cons Takes a long time.
If you stop using it, you breakout the next day.
Dry's skin out.
Hardly reduces spots.
Bleaches hair and duvet.
Bottom line I was prescribed this by a doctor and told me how to use it.
I did exactly what they said and it doesn't reduce my spots, it just keeps them at the same level.
If you stop using it, you breakout the next day.
I am like the only one in my year group with spots and this girl who had literally one tiny spot which you could hardly see was prescribed this, so that shows they prescribe it to anyone whether they have a lot of acne or not.

Pros Does seem to work
Cons Dryness and soreness
Bottom line I should add further to my last review that I have just been away for 2 days and forgot to take my Duac with me. The spots have come back so it is important to keep using this.
I have also noticed that on some of the older spots I have the Duac dries them out to a crust. Whether I am left with any scarring or marks is yet to be seen......

Pros Improvement after a few days
Cons Drying Skin
Bottom line I am 31 and have never had a problem with my skin. A few months ago I started with spots that were huge lumps under my skin all around my mouth and chin which would not go. I'd wear make up to cover the spots but the lumps just showed through. I went to my GP 4 days ago and he prescribed moderate acne and Duac Once Gel. I started using it once at night as prescribed and 3 days lated the lumps have subsided a little and I can tell my chin is smoother.
I understand from reading forums that you have to keep using this gel otherwise the acne may come back.
The only drawback of this cream is how much it has dried out my skin. REALLY BAD. I only applied the cream to my chin, and my skin is flaking and I look like a horror show. I went out the other night and put some foundation on my face. Within 10 minutes the make up was flaking off my face and I looked like a wall with paint peeling off.
I have tried exfoliating which worked a little but the dryness does come back. Also, moisturisers didnt work as they just sunk into the dryness,
I think its a small price to pay for these lumps to be subsiding, but do be aware it may dry/burn your skin.

Pros Saw results in 2 days, completely clear skin in about a week
Cons Caused a bit of drying
Put white spots of bed covers
Bottom line I've been using Duac for about a week. My acne isn't horrible, but lately I've had a lot of spots around my chin and cheeks. It's very frustrating as I'm 25 and I haven't had skin like this for about a decade! Over the past few months I've wasted so much money on the products you can buy at the pharmacy and finally gave up and went to my GP. I paid the £3 NHS Scotland prescription charge and it has worked absolute wonders so far. My skin was clearer within 2 days of using this product and a week later, my skin only has the marks where my spots were. It did dry out my skin a bit, but nothing a good moisturiser won't fix. It warns that it can bleach fabrics and your hair, which is something to be careful of. I used old pillowcases but somehow managed to get some on my purple duvet cover. It's not noticeable though and I would still definitely recommend it.

Pros Saw results in 3 days
Cleared skin quickly
Improved long term quality of skin so I don't have to keep using it
Doesn't dry out skin
Prescribed so it was free
Cons None!
Bottom line I had bad skin for about 3 years so I started using Duac. It started to work immediately and the results could be seen after around 3 days. It worked quickly to get rid of my spots and it helped improve my skin quality too. I no longer use it and I only get the occasional (and very rare) spot. Other reviews say it dried out their skin but it was fine with me. Would recommend this product to anyone!
