Pros its takes time for full results, but definatley works, take it from me, i went too 2 doctors, trying every presciption cream on the market.

Good luck, im so happy i can talk to girls again
Bottom line Ive been on doxy for 2 months, its the only thing out there that did anything, take it after your biggest meal, i was supposed to continue with like 6 creams, but after years and years of searching, im so sick of creams they havnt been doing anything, so i have been pretty much leaving it up to doxy now that my face isnt so gut wrenching to look at, still wash face everyday, creams might make it work quicker, i cant believe i wasted a year and hundreds of dollars trying to find a cream, i didnt think a pill would work, so if u get anything i recomend this one.!

Cons I've been taking doxy for 3 weeks now and I still see no results. So far, I havent experience any side effects. It might help some people clear up fast but not to other. "Its expensive".
Bottom line It might take a "few" weeks to show improvement.

Pros worked very well within a few weeks. I did have some stomach upsets, but with food and plenty of water you're fine. It really cleared up my face, although blemishes were still present
Cons Had to wait for an hour or so before you could lay down. Rembering to take at certain hours so that you don't miss your dose and wait for the next. Nausea if you don't take it with food. You had to exclude dairy foods when taking this Rx.
Bottom line Works well, but you need to stay on it until your doc says get off of it. If you get off of it completely and come back on after a year or so, it may not work the same because your body is now immune to the Rx.

Pros easy to use!
Cons makes me feel kind of sick even though i take it with food and water! and the sun burn things not the best!
Bottom line my skin has just really flared up this year (im 19) so i finally went to the doc and she put me on doxycycline as well as differin gel! its only my third day on it and havn't really noticed any results yet but in saying that it hasn't got worse either! im on 100mg tablets for a 3 month dose! my hormone levels are being tested too so might end up on the pill for it too if they are out of balance!

Pros It works very well for about 6 months. Then I developed bacterial resistance to doxycycline.
Cons A test done in 2001 showed that 55.5% of the people developed bacterial resistance. [link removed]
The acne came back after about 6 months.
Bottom line Works well for a while, but if you are unlucky it will become resistant like a flu virus and come back. Bacteria mutates and it is clear that it did. It's cheap, but temporary results.

Pros Easy to use. Worked eventually.
Cons $$ expensive. $50/month for the pills my Dr. prescribed ($35 rebate might come three months later or it might never come at all). Easy to get suntan/sunburn.
Bottom line The first three months I was on Doxycycline, it did not seem to make a difference. The last month, however, I started working out again - lifting weights and doing 30 minutes of intense cardio - and then my acne completely disappeared, not even one blemish. I also use OTC Neutrogena Clean & Clear Face Wash morning and night (Salicylic Acid 2%).

Pros taken doxy for a two weeks and acne has totally cleared up -- i don't even recognize myself in the mirror. hopefully it will continue to work once my course is complete.
Cons a little hard on the stomach -- have to eat at least a small snack before taking morning dose. Don't like the limitations on eating dairy.
Bottom line The best thing I ever did. All the OTC products weren't working, but this took care of the problem quickly and efficiently. I find myself looking people in the eye and smiling instead of trying to hide part of my face.

i have just been to the doctors and got a prescription for doxy! When i was young i always had beautiful skin..but now that im a teenage and my hormones are raging and i am very stress at school becoz of yr 12..so now i have terrible acne...it's really unattractive especally when i plaster on makeup to try and cover it up...i have used so many creams from elle bache and other expensive brands..AND THEY DON't WORK! so hopefully my skin will now clear up becoz of doxy! i'm just a little concerned about the side effects but i think it will be worth it to have good skin!

I have been on doxy for almost 4 months. I am 44! I have had acne on and off since I was 11. I did accutane 12 years ago and last year my acne started coming back. My face is geting better now with the doxy, but I do not like taking it. I do have to make sure I eat and drink plenty of water or else I feel sick, but I have never thrown up. I wonder how long I will be on it and when I stop I guess the acne will return. I don't want to do accutane again. It is frustrating. All the same feelings from my teenage years have returned witht his bout of adult acne. It sucks! I didn't think the doxy would ever work, but at least I am seeing results...finally as I am nearing the 4 month mark. Then what? How long do I stay on it??
