I have fairly mild acne, and I tried many different things for awhile that didn't really help. I decided to use Doxycycline because the other stuff was causing my skin to peel off like crazy and I'd have to slather on non-comedogenic lotion if I didn't wanna look flaky, and I also wanted to clear up my back and chest acne. After about a month and a half nothing really happened, but then I broke out, and it's been over a month and I still haven't gotten any clearer since the break out. I got these little things called papules I think and they don't go away very easily :(. I think I'm going to go back to the skin shedding topical creams...

I've been using Doxycycline for two months now and my face still looks bad. It cleared up all the small bumps but now I get more cysts. I use it with Retin-A micro. Why is it causing more cysts? The Retin-A dries them up really quick but I'm still getting them.

Saw this site while looking for other possible side effects. Been taking doxycycline for 3 weeks to prevent infection from oral surgery; I'm sure it's working OK for that, anyway.
After about 1 to 1 1/2 weeks, my face began to itch all over and sort of "break out" in bumps that resemble (and feel like) small mosquito bites; face gets oilier faster; this is when it itches most, so I have to wash it alot (relieves itching 'till it gets oily again). The weird thing is I've never had a problem with acne before, other than the occasional mild hormonal "break out" (and no, haven't been around any insects lately).
I definitely have to eat something before I take it. Can't wait to get off of this.

I've been on Doxycycline for 6 months and it really has cleared my skin. I have found that if you have an empty stomach and take it,you will get very sick to your stomach ,but if you take it when you're not hungry or at least have a little something in your stomach it should be fine.
Just make sure not to eat anything with calcium, magnesium, or any other mineral before using. It loses its absorption capability. I also was prescribed something to increase absorption of the Doxy. The drug is spirolyctin, or something like that. It also acts like a diuretic. You might want to ask your doctor about something like that if it's not working for you. However, I am nervous about going off of it. I hear that immune system functioning can be effected and acne can come back worse. We'll see... I'll let you know.

I just started taking Doxy in combination with Proactive....So far I have noticed that I'm not breaking out in the mornings, but I am definitely more sensitive to light.. I usually get really tan and not that red, but lately I have been burning in the tanning beds. I also noticed that my skin has been tingling which is weird because no one else has mentioned this. Overall 1/2 a month of this is isn't so bad!

The med worked realy good for the first week, but then all of a sudden during the second week i had side effects. The "rare" but happens "side effect" my face got swollen and my eyes looked looked like golf balls. They say the side effects are rare but they lie. i am the type of person were my body can handle any med fine. it realy is not worth taking. also after reading other peoples comments i realized that also my face has gotten the worst it has ever gotten. my acne broke out bad. i thought it was me but i realized that it is because of the meds. warning do not be fooled and take the med its bad.
