Pros No pros. Perhaps made my acne worse.
Cons Did not help my skin and also made me feel sick, after a few weeks I had terrible acid reflux, which lasted a few weeks even after I stopped the medicine. Took a lot of Tums until it finally subsided.
Bottom line I will stick to topical solutions, ie: benzoyl peroxide.

Bottom line Im 24 years old and i had acne problems since i was 15 years old. My brother was in the same boat as i am .Anyways he went to the doctors and he was prescribed doxy and a face cream.however the pills made him sick, so he stopped taking them. So i thoughtmaybe i give them a try and in to weeks of taking them my face waas totaly cleared. But then as soon as i stopped the acne came back but anyways i went ot get them refilled and they work great it just sucks that i have to worry on pills everyday to make my face clear but what else can i do right its worth it. So i think of it this way instead of worrying alllllll day abhout what ima do with my face I worry twice a day that takes seconds of taking theppill.

Pros Clears up acne after about 6 weeks and works petty well for about a month or two.
Cons Most likely, this antibiotic will stop working because the bacteria in your skin will become resitant to the medication. This is more likely to occur if you miss doses or overdose.
Bottom line I used doxycycline for about 5 months and it worked for about a month or two. However, I had a major acne flare and my face was even worse then before I was taking the antibiotic. If you are planning on taking this antibitotic you'll be pleased to see you're acne will go away for a little while but eventually the bacteria will become resistant to the medicine and your conditon may worsen

Pros I've been taking it for two and a half months and I notice that I don't get any deep deep zits anymore.
Bottom line I'm writing this from a mental point of view. I can't believe I am even bringing my fingers to this keyboard to write something on an ACNE site. I've never had mild acne until this summer when it hit me like a ton of bricks. A ton of big, fat, scabby, zitty, bricks. Its only a zit! But it wasn't A zit...I dont smother my face in the pillow and spend my whole summer alone in a bed because of A zit. Go outside and have fun! But you can't have fun when you can't be in control of how you look. I must admit, I still don't have it as bad as other people... but the breakouts that I use to have once or twice a year come to me every week now. I really want to find hope in this medicine. Not to sound ignorant but if we can do amazing things like brain surgery or gastric bypass (spelling?) we should be able to find one pill that helps us. I'm sick of having false hope's and up's and down's. I just hope I can look back on this and laugh or say "Thank God Its over"
ya know?!

Pros Clears and smooths skin, makes it less sensitive and easier to look after. Overall I look a hell of a lot healthier after using Doxy.
Cons I got sick from taking doxy on an empty stomach and with not enough liquids and it was really painful, so make sure you dont lie down for a while after taking it and drink lots of water. it makes you feel a bit sick so take after eating.
Bottom line If anyone reading this has Rosacea I strongly recommend asking your doctor to put you on Doxy. I've never had particularly bad acne but recently my skin was getting worse (lots of rash like pimples on my cheeks, neck and back, skin felt painful and inflamed that my doc diagnosed as Rosacea). I've been on Doxy for about 5 months and my life is a hell of a lot easier and happier now that I dont have to worry about how awful my skin is going to look when i get out of bed in the morning.

Pros It works like a charm! really really well! least for me it did!
Cons antibiotics are dangerous and if youve ever taken a single dose of them you have a candida yeast over growth in your body which can be harmull in many ways. they also supress your immune system.and it comes back but not as bad.
Bottom line i took it twice. cleared me up like a charm both times.

Pros Very Cheap
Used as an anti-malarial while travelling, so it was 'double duty'.
Cons Made me sick to my stomach if I did not drink with lots of water and food.

Didn't so much work.
Bottom line Better than nothing, but not by much. I still had cysts and bad pimples. (I would say the medication reduced my outbreaks by 10%.)

Plus, taking antibiotics for this long creeps me out. Your body is probably building up a resistance.

Save yourself some time and try something different. This just isn't going to cut it.

Pros When my Acne was really really bad, it helped to slow the reappearance of new cysts. I was on it for about 3-4 months.
Cons Over a year later, my acne is still coming back - not as bad as it was last year, BUT Doxy doesn't really stop the bumbs completely.
Bottom line Try it for at least 4 weeks if your acne is really bad - you should see improvement. BUT - Side effects (for girls) - prolonged use of this product gave me a yeast infection. It's an antibiotic so it kills bacteria - good and bad - girls have "good" bacteria down there that helps keep things normal - but Doxy kills that too...
