i've been on doxy for over 2 years, this drug does cause some uncomfort in the asophogus, but overall it has worked great for me. as said, it does not ELIMINATE, but it DOES cut down alot of the pimples. i used to in conjunction with duac for a while with great results, latley i have only been using the pill.

I've been on Doxycyclene for about a month now and it suprisingly, in conjunction with tazorac, brought my pores to the surface. My face is very bumpy and you can see the puss coming, it literally pulled the zit out...but, not sure if it was the tazorac or this, i started to break out where i didn't before. I never broke out by my ear and like teh side of my cheek, just in my T-zone and chin, so that was a bummer. i'm hoping that its just bringing all of my pores to the surface to be swept away...if anyone else had this problem could they please refer back to my answer in their response thanks!

Works great in conjunction with topical products, but I too have noticed the stomach insanity and heartburn. It seems there are mixed messages regarding the calcium thing. I heard you weren't supposed to take it with calcium, but someone on the thread said his doctor told him to take it with milk. So now I'm confused. I have stopped taking it the last couple of days because the heartburn and stomach pain is just too much.

Ok I find it interesting that a lot of people are getting "heartburn". Your doctor should have told you that YOU CAN NOT LIE DOWN FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES AFTER TAKING THE PILL. The pill is an extremely strong antibiodic that just eats away at your esphogus if you do not follow these instructions.. causing permanent damage! You can't take it on an empty stomach because it doesn't mix well with the acid in your stomach and your body rejects it. Dairy products shouldn't be consumed an hour before or after because it weakens your bodies absorption rate. I have found the eating fruit doesn't mix well either because of the vitamins in it. You also need to be consistent about taking the pill at the same time each day so your body is able to settle into a rhythm and know what to expect. I've been on it for 3 weeks now and it has cleared up my acne caused by bacteria incredibly well. I am happy. I'm taking 100mg twice a day along with a benzoyl peroxide wash and differin.

This Drug is DANGEROUS!!! Yes, it did help my acne, I was on 100mg (Doryx) twice a day for 6 months. Almost 2 weeks into my treatment I started having dizziness, blurred vision, dark transparent spots in my vision and "strange migraine like" headachs (I have had chronic headaches and migraines all my life). I already had a bp problem so I tried to dismiss it all. On July 25, 2005 I was diagnosed with Psuedotumor Cerebri or Intracranial Hypertension (an overproduction and inabilaty to reabsorb spinal fluid). My eyeballs were hemorrhaging the optic nerve discs were extremely swollen, I now have permanent damage to my left eye and I will always face going blind as there is no cure for this disease/disorder, only meds, shunt placement, and optic nerve sheath fenestration surgery. I stopped taking Doryx on Aug 12, 2005, by the 18th I had a significant decrease in cerebral spinal fluid and better vision. Keep in mind I was also already taking a drug to draw the fluid off of my brain and eyes, but it was not effective until I stopped the doxycycline.

ive been using it for over a year. at first i noticed a slight change but now i still have pimples everywhere. i only recommend to people with very little acne

It was really good for my acne. But I think it really made me have a horrible memory. Like seriously, I was forgetting things just left and right and I wasn't doing too well in school either. My mom kept telling me not to take oral pills, especially since it would just treat acne. I've listened to her after a year and I've been using other topical acne products.

I started taking doxy about a year and a half ago, and when i first started, it worked great, along with benzaclyn, and I pimple free for almost a year, then my face broke out the worst it had since I can remember, and the I went off of it for about 6 months, and now I'm back on it and it's not working at all, because my body is now immune to it.

ive been on this drug for the past two months and it hasnt made any difference to my acne, however im still going to stick by it for another two months, ive tried a few other drugs but they have had no effect.

This product worked great for about 4 months then just quit working altogether. Now I am stuck trying other antibiotics that won't work while my acne is slowly getting worse.....what to try next....
