Pros It cleared up about 80% to 90% of my acne including my shoulders.
Cons When I didn't take it at the regular time or when I forgot to take it I felt really sick.
Bottom line It was worth the 9 months that I was on it.

Pros Clears Back up real well. (I recommend for back acne not face acne.)
Cons Doesn't do much for your face.
Bottom line Since I was 12 I've been trying to clear up my acne - 4 years. Back then it was my face would have some random breakouts, not consistant just random. The following year I thought I'd cut my hair short thinking it would help. It didn't. My Acne flaired up, spread to my back and got really fierce, I couldn't sleep and when my friends patted me on the back "OMFG" - I refused to tell them because Bacne is embarrasing. So finnaly I decided to treat it, I used Benzagel 5, Acne Masks, Creams, Cloths but NOT pills. So, after 4 years I convinced my dad to buy me something. The following day I went to the doctor's and she prescribed some doxycycline pills. So now, I'm using it regularly and I'm glad with it but it's doing jack for my face. Now I have some convincing to do, see if I can't get some more expensive creams or something.
Too anyone whose been in the same situation as me, in a worse, or just needs some cheering :

Pros Works in conjunction with Benzaclin and Retin-A...so far, so good!
Cons This is the first time I've had any side effects, but I happened to burp (sorry, I know) yesterday after I'd taken it, and my throat and nose burned for quite a while and my throat STILL hurts...so just watch out.
Bottom line Worth the risk if you're willing...I don't know why people with mild acne are even on this, I had moderate cystic acne and so far, it's cleared me up.

Pros I started seeing results within a week. My skin isless blotchy, bumpy, and inflamed already.
Cons None, really. Mild constipation so far.
Bottom line I recommend this for anyone suffering from rosacea acne or perioral dermatitis. If you take it as directed, you're not even going to feel anything out of the ordinary.
I've only been on it for 7 days and am supposed to stay on it for 2 months, but the results were really fast.

My skin was a total disaster with inflamed perioral dermatitis and rosacea acne. I mean, really gross, painful stuff.
7 days into the doxy treatment and it is all but gone. I am still a little blotchy, but it's faded to the point where you can't really tell unless you're up close. And even then it's not so bad.
I hope it continues working this way.
I have also eliminated all makeup products/creams containing known allergens/irritants (parabens, SLS, etc) and have replaced my face wash and moisturizer with all-natural, all-organic products.

The difference has been huge, and I also recommend doing this in addition to the doxy treatment.
I am also using it in conjuction with

Pros I just started taking this medication a few days ago. So far so good.
Cons If I don't eat something with this medication it gives me pretty bad acid reflux. I've also noticed that my hands and arms are very sensitive to the cold.
Bottom line I'm hoping this will work. I'm also using in with clindamycin phosphate and tretinoin gel. We'll see.

Pros none
Cons made me break out in whole new places. i still have the scars on my cheeks from taking this stuff. i stopped breaking out there after i stopped taking it. and no it didn't stop my breakouts in the usual areas.
Bottom line for me it was about as crappy as it gets. guess it works for some people.

Pros Cheap, Easy to use.
Cons I have been on doxycycline for 7 weeks now and have seen little improvement. I even used it in conjunxtion with benzoyl peroxide but have experienced litle progress. I have mild acne and am very frustrated by the lack of results that i am seeing.
Bottom line I recommend this product to everyone with an acne problem. It works for some but not for others. If there are no results after 9 weeks i suggest you move on to another medication. It may be time for accutane for me.....

Pros Clears up small pimples right away and smooths skin works well
Cons has the "worse then better" kinda thing for the first few weeks used kinda got worse no other side effects for me
Bottom line I had steriod induced acne till i got kicked in the face (relized that no amount of muscle could help you there :P) went to doc to see if he could help clear it up put me on tetracyclin... kinda worked. He asked me if i was happy with it i said "na" he put me on minocycline (angle choir "AWWW") minocycline worked nice you still get lil pimples every now and then but bareable this worked for me for 9 months then pescription went out. Went back to docs he said... "well cause you may have built a resestance to it we are going to put you on doxycycline" I unwillingly agreed cause minocycline worked so well for me and 3rd week worked great for me 1st week taking it i broke out bad but that was to be expected with most of these drugs... Anyways good luck with all of your treatments and know that something will work although this will probably work for you as long as you take it like you should :P
