| Pros: | I noticed improvement within 4 - 5 days of starting it. I am prescribed 150mg two times a day. |
| Cons: | sunburn at 8.30 in the morning and outside for 5 mins, I learned quickly to use factor 50+ I also get prickly itchy feeling for about 10 mins after taking it. |
| Bottom Line: | It works, I've been on it for over 6 months now, and I have found if I stop using I break out big time within 2 - 3 days. Then it takes a further 4 - 5 days to clear it back up again.
I still get some very mild break outs while on it, but nothing like before. I was suffering from cystic acne before.
I'm just hoping I can drop it all together eventually. |

| Pros: | Easy to take, cheap with insurance, complexion is clear :) |
| Cons: | can get nauseous if you don't take it with food but I always do. |
| Bottom Line: | I get light to moderate acne most of the time but sometimes it can get severe depending on my stress level. I tried microdermabrasion for a year and it worked really well but I had to get it done regularly and if I missed one appointment, they would be back again. I was using glymed's supplies, 5% benzyl peroxide, and toner which had salycylic acid. It was just getting too expensive and I was tired of going to it regularly so I went to see my dermatologist who asked me to take 2 100mg tablets twice a day and I have been taking these for over 2 months now and my complexion is almost clear. I still get one or two but for the most part it is clear and after 2 1/2 years i'm finally happy. I was sick of applying all that stuff to my face every morning and night and I had dryness sometimes! My dermatologist also gave me the dual topical treatment with clindamyacin and benzyl peroxide but I used it only in the beginning. I hope I won't have to take this medication for too long... |

| Pros: | Can't really think of any... my skin hasn't improved at all! |
| Cons: | Have often felt nauseous after taking the tablet. Also the odd stomach ache after taking the tablet. Weirdly, I've also felt a lot more 'bloated'. |
| Bottom Line: | Been taking Doxycycline twice a day along with a adapalene gel (that I apply at night) prescribed by my doctor. I seen NO improvement in my skins whatsoever! Extremely frustrating... have now started using tea tree oil instead and my complexion has improved mildly... but still not great! |

| Pros: | Clears about half up...works well. No side effects for me. |
| Cons: | Takes a month to a month an a half to kick in (long process). Can't drink milk 1-2 hours before or after taking it. Sun-reactive. |
| Bottom Line: | Works pretty well. I'm on 150mg once daily (morning or night). Drink a bottle of water with it (: |

| Pros: | Cleared up acne within one week, no new breakouts! |
| Cons: | Sun sensitivity |
| Bottom Line: | My acne wasn't really bad but this cleared it up within one week of starting the medication. I haven't had one new breakout since I started taking it. I have noticed that it makes me more sun sensitive so I just make sure to wear sunscreen, no big deal. Other people have talked about nausea but I haven't had any of that, even at a 150mg dose. But overall, I would definitely give this a try it has worked wonders for me! |

| Pros: | none |
| Cons: | very sensitive to sun |
| Bottom Line: | I haven't noticed any improvement in my acne since starting doxycycline. I have severe fluctuations, some times my skin looks pimple free, others it it quite bad. However it was like that before doxycycline so i believe it to be ineffective. |

| Pros: | Cleared up my acne very quickly...been using this medication in addition to Retin-a and has worked wonders. |
| Cons: | Sun sensitivity and get some stomach aches every now and then but over all Ive been able to tolerate it. |
| Bottom Line: | Been using retin-a for 10 yrs now and was starting to develop cystic acne around my chin so my doctor gave me this medication to try in addition to my retin-a and I have noticed a big change. My acne has cleared up 90% ,my skin looks alot smoother and my pores are smaller. |
