I started taking Doxycycline about 6 weeks ago and during the first month i broke out really bad around my cheeks and mouth when i usually always had acne around my forehead. But it was because my pores were clogged and it never came up to the surface and so it stayed beneath my skin. I tried everything to fix it. Doxycycline helps to bring the bacteria to the surface and thats just what it did. The last two weeks or so i just now notice how much it has been improving and now my forehead is almost completely rid of acne. I am a senior in high school and the only thing i have been wishing for is for clear skin for graduation! and i think it might come true

I've been off and on antibiotics for acne for probably 6 years or so. I'm 24. My acne is at is worst ever. This will be the 2nd time I've taken Doxy- I'm on Adoxa currently. I have OK insurance but it's a $35 co-pay for Adoxa because it is a name brand. I've started seeing results although I'm expecting to see more hopefully. I do not want to go on Accutane becuase of the series of side effects. I am also starting to think that the whole reason why my acne is so bad is because I'm on birth control pills. I've been on different pills for the past 6 years as well. I'm fighting one pill with the other it seems. Soon I'll probably go off both and see what happens. Anyone else have a similar experience?

i hope this works. i started 2 days ago and it's my last hope. if it doesn't clear up the doctor said accutane will be my last option . i have had acne for 8 years and tried everything even proactive... i wish everyone would get togther and sue the crap out of these false promised companies. people always seem to say man don't you take anything? i have for 8 years nothing works. i feel there there should be class action suit for prooactive and other false company ads...the truth is some people will always have acne .. i think going to an allergist is a good idead. it's just combating acne ain't as easy as some companies say it is.

Ive been on a medicine called bacetrin, it worked well but i had an allergic reaction and had to stop, so my doctor proscribe a similar medicine that u all know as doxcycline, i take the 100mg twice a day with Benzaclin in the morning and retin a at nite.. it is a really good combination and i have been seeing excellent results. Also invest in neutrogenas fresh foaming cleanser, a very good face wash that makes Retin A . from my experience the best way to tackle ance is to see an allergist. They can test you for various things that cuz acne . I was allergic to 4 things called, Staff bacteria, Candita, P bacteria , and histimine. they then give u drops of the thing ur allergic to...to put under ur tounge 2wice a day to make u immune... the reason that im allergic to them is because of the various use of antibiotics.. the antibiotics might work well for ur face , but they also do damage to the good bacteria in ur intestines.which is why you break out when u stop the medicine... your intestines is one of the main causes of acne from toxins in ur body... once you stop an antibiotic, i suggest to go to vitamin shop and get Ascodopolis pills, known as probiotics. they will replenishin the missing good bacteria and clean out ur intestines , and it helps out alot.... also try getting Liver support, with milk thistle... it helps clean out ur liver which can also cuz acne from toxins in your body. you wanna try to clean out ur system as much as possible...

Just started doryx today and I have also been put on benzacin cream as well hoping it will work well for me. I am 33 yrs old and started to get acne after i had my son which is now 9. I beleive for older women it is diffentley a hormone issue. I know the dr. told me I would not see results from the treatment until about 8 weeks so I will let you know how it works. By the way the person (kirie,ut)
you should get a life!! I am sure you are a little brat trying to hurt peoples feelings but your day will come sooner or later when you as well will get piazza face as you describe it. Your hormones have not fully developed yet so if I were you i would watch what i say.

I used Adoxa (doxycylcine) for exactly one month. It did nothing. My skin got WAY worse for about a week and a half, then got neglibly better, but never cleared up and after a month of use, was back to exactly the way it looked when I first went to the doctor. Anyhow, my copay was $130 and I have decent health insurance. Also, it made me extremely naseaus if I took it on an empty stomach, AND gave me a yeast infection.

I have used doxycycline before and recently started using it again in combination with differin. Before I was also using Benzaclin during the day which is benzoyl peroxide with an antibiotic. I had a pretty bad breakout and got back on the differin and doxy and cleared up pretty well within the past week or two. Here's what I have done. The key is to drink lots of water to avoid irritation in the esophagus. I have also improved my diet and water intake, and have been getting out and exercising more. I take the doxy an hour or two after dinner and I haven't had to throw up like I did last year when I was taking it. I have been taking it in the evening and have made sure not to miss any doses. Then I take vitamin A, Vitamin E, and zinc in the mornings. I have seen a lot of improvement and hope it conitinues, but I still have red pigmented marks, and have to wear makeup to cover them. I'm thinking about laser surgery for these.

Doxycycline seems pretty shady. I took two 100mg pills per day for 5 days before I stopped. I would get slightly dizzy which wasn't really a problem, but I would also get blurred vision, and was absolutely unable to concentrate in the afternoons. I'm not sure if the trouble concentrating came from the increased effort in physically focusing my vision, but I was pretty much worthless.

It has been 2 days since I last took doxy, and am currently experiencing five of the six symptoms associated with liver damage. Doxy is also prescribed to dogs as an antibiotic, where liver damage is frequent in cases where too large a dosage is issued.

For humans, the recommended dosage (according to pfiezer) for treating "serious bacterial infections" is 200mg for the first day, with subsequent 100mg/day doses.

I can't really rate how well doxy works because I didn't wait very long. I had very mild acne, and decided to take meds to clear things up and be lazy. My acne did worsten within 24 hours of the first dose and has stayed at the elevated level since.
